  • u are so poor... only 999999G :P

  • how did you beat him as the mage? arn't you supposed to be a wizard by then? Amazing job though, Chaos can be very tough.

  • @pumkinboy1 There is absolutely no obligation in the game to be Wizard to get to Chaos. ;)

  • I'm best. I have FF1 at my crappy three year old sony ericson cellphoine.

  • @f4rtg34ji Actually, as a thief, you can pwn Lich in Final Fantasy Dawn of Souls. The thief is a greatly improved class in that version. With Runeblade equipped, you can take down Lich no problems early on.

  • @f4rtg34ji Solo White Mage can be done too. I've got a video of it too. The hardest solo party was solo Black Mage though. ;)

  • The developers should have thought through that a max level solo blackmage could Physically defeat Chaos (he wasn't even promoted to black wizard...), which is why FFI desperately needed a superboss like Omega Weapon, but not that powerful obviously but enough to challenge the light warriors at max level.

  • No level 8 magic? Weak.

  • lol Black mage rocks in Mario Sports Mix for wii

  • @xXxEstrellaOcultaxXx don't forget mario hoops 3 on 3 for ds

  • @BmanNintendo I know, but mario sports mix is better

  • bah, you spoiled it for me :P lol nice vid. no dislikes makes me feel proud of the rpg community! good taste by all *nod nod*

  • You rock!

  • HADOKEN!

  • This is cute.

  • You just proved my claim that a Black Mage is beast. I knew he had potential.

  • I'm sorry Chaos, I'm afraid I can't let you do that.

  • What wep?

  • @EpicBubbles1 Everything was shown in the vid. ;)

  • dude ure sick!and in a good way!

  • Epic man... FF1 has to be my favorite Final Fantasy ever. That had to have been frustrating to get to Chaos without Save/Load State. The Temple can be a real doozy, especially for a lone Black Mage. Oh, and you don't get nuke for being just a mage either, and basically no healing ability. I've beat this game countless times, even with solo characters, but never with a black mage (never had enough patience). I saw that you have tried this with just a white mage. Which one was harder?

  • @superguy106 Black Mage, because he cannot heal himself with Healing Magic. ;)

  • Comment removed

  • I was about to cry foul and whine about TASteless save state luck manipulation, and then I read the description and saw the video. Nicely done! :)

  • @eggiex1 Thank you very much! OMG This one took me so mucn time to do. Temple of Fiends at the end, even if I tried it over and over and over, it was nothing compared to getting strong levels. Reset and reset and reset again! Fortunately, I only had one character to max up, but it's still lots of work. However, througn it all, I had lots of fun. About save state thing, I really think that it would only remove the challenge. When I do accomplishments, I do it legit. If not, it is no challenge. ;)

  • Hal is a Legendary Badass

  • @Cannonquail Thank you very much dude! I am just trying to do my best. :))

  • wow, solo black mage with no class change... tough!

No way out of temple of fiends!

  • YOUR DEFENSE IS WEAK! FAUGHT IMPS TOUGHER THAN YOU, GOOD KNIGHT TURNED BAD KNIGHT? GOOD NIGHT FOR YOU!!!

  • @Ryanvader85 Not that long, may be one week. Lots of tries in the Temple of Fiends though. He! He! In fact, I did this challenge at the same time as one of my good friends. We both started a game, and talked about our progression day after day. And, because I did all the other solo characters before, I already known exactly what to do and how to proceed. So, even if it was a tough one, it was really fun, since I also read that some people did it for true, so I knew it was possible. It is! :)

  • EPIC

  • how did you hit critical every time e_o

  • @supersmash27 The "Fast" Magic added to the Masmune powers allowed me to hit that hard with lots of critical hits. If Chaos' "Slow" magic would have worked, I would have been in trouble though. ;)

  • @HalDanGhor oh, yeah, i forgot you used fast.

  • @supersmash27

Critical just means that at least one of the hits were critical... so hitting 6-8 times your bound to get a crit

  • Great job, now try the white mage solo at like level 16?

I'm not sure if thats the level from running from everything and using fear on kary

  • @lottabullets54 Well, I did White Mage level 50. At 16, it would take too much luck to be able to do it in a legit way. I bet that guys who would use cheats would be able to do it at 16 or so, but that's just not my style. ;)

  • ....If i get it right Hal,the black mage, was dragging is 3companion thieves that died(how i dont care) all along in the dungeon? No wonder he beat the crap out of Chaos >.<

  • @MrKiwi2323 They've been dead at the very beginning of the whole game. The challenge was to complete the game only with this character. :)

  • This is final fantasy 1 from NES, game that i so admired during my childhood :D even though im not from english speaking country so i didnt understood anything it was great just to try playing it:D i finished it bout few years after first game turning on

  • haha, incredible dude. great job. I'm going to start a solo quest too.. likely fighter, white mage then black mage (best characters).

    nice.

  • Balls o' solid rock, right there. Very impressive. I'm working on a solo black belt right now to kind of ease into the whole solo challenge thing. Perhaps I'll try one o' the mages next.

  • awesome. I tried the black mage only and got to the temple of fiends before my computer crashed, i tried getting to chaos like 20 times then i lost my saved file. i'll try this again one day. i'm pretty sure that the black mage is the only solo i did not pass it with. the black wizard i did already.

  • oh yea now THIS is original epic. it doesnt get much better then this.

  • I'm glad I bought this game on virtual console! It's so fun ^_^

  • Your black mage should have used hadoken.

  • He doesn't have any ninth-level spell charges.

  • I really think the most difficult team is Solo Thief :S

    ...

do you ever tried FF3 Solo Onion Kid?

    I'm playing this ;)

  • It's your opinion and I respect that! :)

About FF3, I only played and finished the game once. Never played it since that time. I hope you are having great fun in there! ;)

  • That would be difficult since you would have to change the Onion Kid into a white mage in order to cast toad and mini. (I don't think he can cast magic in the Famicom version, I'd have to check). o~o

I'm currently Lping FFIII and have done bosses for it already.

  • Solo Thief is only really harder in the beginning due to Astos, who needs massive level grinding (25+) to kill, whereas WM and BM both have spell takeouts (Mute, Ruse tanking, attack spells).

ToFR is easier on a Thief than a BM because a Thief has an edge on stats (better weapon, HP), although the WM has even better HP late game due in part to a high VIT stat, and will do more damage using a Heal Staff than a Thief would with a Rune/Coral sword thanks to the Heal Staff having higher Crit%.

  • when you can upgrade your characters?

  • As soon as you get the Flying airship, you can start getting preparations if you want to upgrade. ;)

  • @HalDanGhor which game is this is this for the gba

  • @chalnick910 "Final Fantasy I: Dawn of Souls" if I am right. ;)

  • @chalnick910 this is the original NES Version of FFI, if you're asking what the GBA copy of FFI is then yes as he said it's dawn of souls.

  • @chalnick910 this is final fantasy 1 for nintendo entertainment system (or nes) the final fantasy for the gba is Dawn of Souls and Dawn of Souls comes with final fantasy 2 you can tell because in dawns of souls the battle graphics are different

  • ah,he isn't upgraded?

to a black wizard who ROCKS??

  • Not, because the challenge was to do the game as a Solo Black Mage! ;)

  • better with lvl 8 magic ¬¬

  • A Black Mage cannot use Level 8 Magic. ;)

  • Wow, you really lucked out on this fight, he didn't use any of his stronger skills and stuck to crappy spells, and you got huge damage criticals in your first couple of attacks.

  • We have no choice but to be lucky to win this fight. The perfect plan can lead to death too. This video is the authentic first success of my Solo Black Mage fights against Chaos. :)

  • It's nice to see someone do it a way you could legitimately do it on a cart too - the only solo I've done was Knight, which is pretty easy all things considered.

What's a harder solo - thief or white mage? I was working on a thief solo (lost the save unfortunately, I was lvl 28 and stuck at Astos), and I'm considering trying it again. Is WM generally a bit easier due to spells like Ruse/Mute, etc? Or does thief become easier due to a slightly better weapon (rune sword instead of silver hammer)?

  • There are some points in the game where Thief, Black Mage, or White Mage is better than one of the ones I mention here, but, I really consider Solo Black Mage as the Ultimate challenge in Final fantasy 1! remember that any of them can use the magical items such as the defense, which does the same effect as Ruse, but much later in the game indeed... ;)

  • I'm gonna go out on a limb and disagree here - after doing some thinking I'd have to say that the Thief has to be harder, if not the White Mage. Sure, their HP values are both higher, but the Black Mage has the level 3 offensive spells whereas items (like the Mage staff) can only cast level 2 spells.

A BM also has the Fast spell, something that's not given by an item, and a Fasted Masamune user is quite strong, even if it's a BM. I'm guessing Chaos is much harder for Thief/WM because of that.

  • As you wish, but I can confirm that Black Mage was the toughest of them all at THE VERY END in the TEMPLE OF FIENDS. I did all three, and especially because of the low HP, getting to Chaos and beat him was really a hard task. Try it yourself, then please tell me about it. ;)

  • I do plan on soloing every class with/without class change, so I'll take your word for it. I still hate the thief solo, if only because of Astos. ;_;

  • However, about ONLY the Chaos fight, the shortest fight has to be the Black Mage one indeed, as you mentionned, because of "Fast", but it remains the closest fight ever, because of the low HP. ;)

  • wow

  • I'm curious. wasn't there character up grades in FF1?mor did that no show up till the remake?

  • There were characters upgrades in this one too. It's just that for my solo runs, I didn't get those in order to have a better challenge every time! ;)

  • what a brave little mage

  • Very epic winsauce! :D

  • omg

  • Dude Solo Nice

  • Howd you manage to get all the EXP (9999999....) Without cheating 0_o ??

  • First of all, having only one character multiplies the experience points earned by 4. Also, there are pretty good places to level up fast. My favorite is in the Ice Cave against the "Eye". With only one "well equipped and ready" character, it is VERY fast! ;)

  • Welcome to the Final Fantasy Solo Hall of Fame. :)

  • ...I'm having a hard time with this game with a full party...

  • Oh wow thats so awsome! ♥

    *faves your video*

  • I was just wondering did you save and reset before level ups to optimize your stats/hp, I got my mage to 50 and his stats/hp are much worse than yours

  • Yes I did! And, OMG, it was a real pain to get the stats I wanted to get! However, every time I got it, I was so proud! Also, it increased my belief that I could succeed beating the game with all solo characters! And, I did it too! :)

  • wow epic music lol... i wan it for my hand phone ringtone

  • You did this also with the White Mage. I've beaten this game only once and that was with all 4 guys intact for the final battle. Why did you not have your guys "honored" to where they all get upgrades? Was there something that they can't do when the mages become wizards?

  • With both White and Black Mages, the challenge was to do a whole game with only each of them, in solo. I didn't get the "Upgrade", because doing it would allow them to equip more items, use more magics, and I wanted to do the challenge at its most difficult level. ;)

  • Hardcore man.

    !*&$ing ultimate hardcore.

  • i so want a sprite sehet of this X3

  • Ur BMage has balls the size of watermelons.

  • OMFG

  • absolutely nuts

    hardcore gaming at its finest

    5 stars

  • Hey, I also named my Black Mage "Hal". What a coincidence, but in my case it's a Final Fantasy and Bionic Commando crossover/parody.

  • Yeah! I remember Hal in Bionic Commando! He gives us the Bazooka, right? Mine was for HalDanGhor The Gamer. ;)

  • Yes he gives you the bazooka. I'll send you the video, see if you get the reference.

  • Yes, but don't worry. I did my own full run of Bionic Commando on YouTube already! I know the game very well! ;)

  • I don't think I've ever seen Chaos cure himself... Which is funny, because I've heard that all enemies repeat a specific cycle of special attacks. I guess it makes sense, because normally I just use FAST on my Masters and Ninjas, and the battle only lasts 4 turns at most.

  • Yes, they have cycles. However, sometimes, they can randomly skip some of their cycle moves! ;)

  • awesome i have the gba version and beat it

  • When they remade this they should have remade the mechanics

  • then they would have just made a new game

  • Zzzz... haha ^^

  • You're a fucking God.

  • Thanks again, but the main thing is to never give up. Yes, this task was very difficult, but because it was a possible challenge to beat, I had great fun going at it! :)

  • aaaaahhhhhhh FF1 brings memories back

  • Holy crap bro! One word just about sums it up: Pwned!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow. :O! Good job on the boss battle. I probably would have never been able to do it with a black mage.

    Oh, and one question for your emulator. How do you record stuff on it without it being a Nsv file or that lame Hypercam 2 thing with no sound and bad effects? x~x;

  • The emulator I use is "Fceu Recording" I record all my videos in .AVI and I have no problems with sound at all. I only used this one since I can record my runs with one of those! However, sometimes in some of my vids, some effects can be seen, but they are not so bad. ;)

  • :O! Your right, it's working for me. I just switched my Emulator from Nestopia to this "Fceu" one. And...I'm still kinkering with it but I'm sure it'll work. It has been so far. ^~^

Thank you, and have a good day. =]

  • Great! Your turn to have fun now! ;)

  • Sweet, now I'm going to start uploading some of my Nes/Famicom maybe SNES (On a different Emulator) onto Youtube. :O!

Maybe I'll upload one this week...XD Well, Imma' message you so I don't over-stuff your comments. Great video. ^~^

  • Thank you very much dude! You can comment my vids as often as you want! Yeah, uploading vids here is great! Keep it up! ;)

  • Masamune ftw. I expected you to spam spells. The white mage can use Masamune too, but then you wouldnt have FAST

  • I did it with the White Mage too! Just look at the video. I showed how to beat Chaos with a White Mage. ;)

  • Oh god... Was this with a non-promoted Black Mage? That sounds pretty brutal.

  • Yes it was. Using the Fast magic helped a lot! ;)

  • Jeez, this must have took a lot of hard work. I salute you for this awesome accomplishment.

  • Yes it was! Thank you very much!!! :)

  • wow simply wow. mage has a story to tell at every town " Ya i defeated Chaos... by myself"

  • LOL I can tell you I was really proud when I finally did it! Each try against Chaos was enjoyed! Just getting to him was a challenge! This fight is really the first fight when I finally got him! ;)

  • I've heard it's possible and frustrating, much easier with a ROM and an emulator that can save anywhere though still very difficult. Gratz. I'm going to try this on the Wonderswan Color version.

  • Yes I used an emulator. We can save everywhere, but I assure you I did the challenge the way we HAVE TO do it. I started over and over again to conquer this whole game with a Black Mage alone! It is really challenging, but it is a great and funny challenge! What is the purpose of doing it in saving everywhere where we cannot save in a true game? Not fun and no challenge in it! Let's be true players please! ;)

  • so the whole game you had 3 dead monks and an ubor black mage?!?!?

  • Wow very cool! Black mage has always been my favorite!!!

  • So you do stay the same class the whole game

  • Yes. For my 6 solo games, I didn't change class with any of the characters! ;)

  • very impressive. thank you for making this video!

  • so you beat the rest of the game with 3 thfs and a blm? and you didnt cheat? hmm...

    <--- Sceptical.

  • I understand that you can feel that way. However, can you tell me where is the place you think we cannot get by? It seems impossible to your eyes, but I assure you it is possible! Indeed, I died over 100 times in the Temple of fiends before I can get to Chaos himself. Thieves were never used in the game. I just got them killed in the very first fight against Imps! Forget about the idea that I can be cheating. I am for REAL! ;)

  • Oh, and I can tell you that the Ice Cave was a very difficult place to beat. In fact, there's 3 difficult places in this game. First is Marsh Cave. Beating Wizards is the hardest ones to my eyes with a Black Mage alone. I had to level up a lot before getting them, and I had to be lucky enough to get only 2 of them to kill and hope they don't hit me with too many strong hits. Second place is Ice Cave. Mages, Ghouls and Sorcerers can mean death! Third is Temple of Fiends: Gas Dragons + Kraken. ;)

  • Mike1Gomez, don't make stupid comments unless you know the game. Solo no class change is indeed possible, and a solo thief is WAY harder due to the lack of early game firepower till you get the attack items. The defense sword's RUSE effect and the BANE sword make any solo possible, though I think the chance of killing CHAOS with BANE is 1/200ish. And from when I've played, solo Knight is easier than 4 White Wizards, IMHO.

  • the fact that you didn't heal yourself makes it all the more impressive for the black mage

  • Ive been thinking about getting a tattoo of the black mage.

  • I didn't know the Masamune Crit every time. Hmm..

  • The Masamune doesn't Crit every time. However, using the "Fast" magic before using it makes it do lots of Critical Hits. Just look the fight I did with my White Mage against Chaos. It doesn't always Crit, because my character couldn't use "Fast". ;)

  • They need to post this game for the virtual consol on the wii so i can download it.

  • chaos suffered stabbity death :p

  • Even under the best of circumstances (except for the fact I rarely built experience to level 50), I was never sure whether I would beat Chaos any given attempt. I'm really impressed.

  • wow

  • Well so much for NUKE

  • Great vid!!

  • How?! Level 5 Confusion...! Great Job.

  • Speechless...A++

  • Heh, one NUKE and you wouldve been dust. Is it just me, or is CHAOS obsessed with spells? I rarely see him use physical attacks.

  • It depends of your luck. I saw him attack like 7 times in-a-row. It seems there is a pattern he uses for the order of the magics he uses, and he can break it if he attacks here and there... It depends on when we push the A button to begin the active attack turn... ;)

  • i love all final fantisy i have em all lol

  • You, my friend, is CRAZY!

Black Mage pwnage. Must've been extrememly hard to get to that point of the game. So...to you, I give you:

    1) A cookie! (::)

    2) A 5 STAR for being crazy!

    3) Fav

I know I may sound like a n00b or whatever, but is it possible to Job Change on the NES version? I mean, I played the Origins version, and it is said is identical to the NES version.

  • Forget about the n00b thing my friend! Each character can evolve...

    Fighter=Knight

    Thief=Ninja

    Black Belt=Master

    White,Red,Black Mage=White,Red,Black Wizard.

However, nobody can change it after it has been done! In this game, I didn't use this change. And yes, I am crazy! :P

  • Ahhh. I see. Just checking. XD

  • MAGNIFIC FINAL BATTLE, MY FRIEND!!! Great performance, level maximum, best equipaments, black mage solo... You are a great player... Please, check too my solo performance against Chaos in the Final Fantasy I - Dawn of Souls (gba). GREAT FIGHT FRIEND, CONGRATULATIONS!!! 55555 stars for you! This video is one of my favourites!

  • Thanks a lot! Sure, I'll see it! yes, this solo game was really hard to do, but I just loved it! I am made for challenges!!! ;)

  • Can you do a complete run of FF2 for the NES?

  • Which kind of run would you like? Should I show only bosses or more? Just tell me please... ;)

  • This is the best of your fights. I have yet to get a solo black mage run in (even with 99 heals). Kudos to you. I got to chaos once, and saw Cur4 and Nuke in the first 4 rounds.

  • To beat him, we really have to be lucky at some point! Me and a friend of mine have started this run at the same time, separately. We had lots of fun in starting again and again each time our character died. It was a race I'll never forget. Each time we got to Chaos, we described our fights, and we often died. We knew we could have won the fight, and that's why we never lost hope, each on our side, to beat him! And we both did it!

  • Man you are a great player of final fantasy!!!

playing all game with one character is very hard!!!

    Congratulations!!! :D

  • Thank you very much!!! Sure, it was hard, but I just love challenges!!! I had a lot of fun doing this!!! ;)

  • Lol, FF 1 for Snes :P I thought for GBA :P!!! XD
