I don't agree with this. I think photoshop is more like a tool. It's all about the artist, not the programme or machine. Let an amatuer draw something like this using photoshop. I don't think he/she will make it. Actualy you can split it in two groups: "traditional art" and "digital art".
And now my comment for this vid:
Wow dude o.O, that's pretty awesome! The work of an professional :D
No, he's saying that the program has many nerfing qualities, like resizing, undo etc. If it was traditional, you'd have to erase the whole head and redraw it to make it smaller, but in photoshop all you do is select it and bam, re size
I must agree with Davencin and Ice, but it's true that it takes two to create something in this case, because the programme isn't going to place that line for you, you have to do that yourself, and those are the skills that are needed. But I should say that if you don't practice traditional as well, that your skills won't improve, because you can't make mistakes (Since the computer fixes them all for you with one click) But I think Mr. Hamamoto knows exactly what he is doing.
Thanks for agreeing. Yes, I do agree with you about the program not planing the line for you. The artist has to have an eye to figure out where the line should be properly placed.
for the record,I wasn't saying that Hamamoto was an amateur, I was just showing Computerhoofd where Davencin was coming from : ]
I understand your point (And theirs) completely, I draw as well, so I understand where this is coming from. I do think so that because of the whole Computer Art Program phenomenon people started to neglect the traditional art, and especially underestimate it. I think, and I say this as an artist myself, that people should open their eyes more for the traditional art, because it is and remains the most beautiful and original.
Totally agree, and well said. When you see a great piece of traditional art, whether it be a pencil, charcoal sketch, a rough painting, there's just a feeling there that knowing it was done traditionally that's very satisfying.
I am fond of both types though Each has it's own beauty that can only be achieved through it's own method.
Yes, working on traditional does help. But for a long time i would work only digital. And it actually improved my skills. For example: i can now draw a head with no erasing. And draw it in under 30 seconds, maybe more, but you get my point. If you chose to re size then no your not getting much skill in, but your also noticing the mistake and will less likely make it the next time.
@computerhoofd and really Photoshop doesn't do much for you except saves paper ...When you make a mistake in both traditional and digital artwork, it can usually be fixed on a equal level. painting? paint over what you've done. drawing? there is a thing called an eraser my friends... Pen? Erasable ink pen or tracing paper re-draw should fix that. just because photoshop makes cleaning up mistakes easier doesn't mean that it draws anything for you.
wonder why black mang/anime characters have such larges lips , not very realistic even tho I'm sure there will be those ignorant people that say "BLACKS HAVE BIG LIPS" .... or something more ignorant.
yay, a really nice picture, ur style looks amazing, i'd love to draw like this, and not my current style.... =3= well, saying so nothing 'll change, lets start practising this style xD
yes! I can't draw children at all, and little BOYS are even harder. Well, it might have been speedy but it was still entertaining to watch...one question though...what tool do you use to place down all of your shading when you do it? It looks easy! Is it fill pen on a low opacity or something?
wonder how he turned the drawing to blue...

There's no way a person can work that fast. The artist fast forward it so the drawing process will not look so slow.
