As a smoker, I don't smoke around friends and family members that don't. I keep it to myself, and if someone gets in my face about it I turn into Bill Hicks. I get the feeling that a lot of anti-smoking campaigns are done out of a desire to control other people's behavior rather than real health concerns.
In other words, don't step on my shoes and I won't step on yours.
The problem is you do get into other peoples behavior. By getinng sick after a period of time your health costs make my health costs go up. The small part effects the whole part. Real health health coccerns? Smoking kills period.
Very interesting. I do think there needs to be a fine line established between so called brand cigarettes and natural/ organic tobacco. Having have smoked both, knowing neither are healthy, the natural ones cased the least problems, eg feeling ill, coughing etc. I firmly believe cigarette companies add chemicals to make them much more addictive.
I did learn something fairly interesting as a side note, a lot of health studies, and in general, are conducted by cigarette companies.
I can smoke or not and have no issues stopping. I could smoke 2 packs in a weekend and not have any issues not smoking for long periods of time until I want to smoke again. For me it is a vice not a habit. I do it because I enjoy tobacco in moderation.
Interesting video. I like how you get to hear both points of view from teens who smoke and those that are against it. That seems to be rare in videos on the topic.
I really think this video shows the world about underage smoking. It is a huge problem when they start young and grow old with it. My friend started smoking when he was 15. We ended up having an intervention for him and made him quit. He thanks us everyday for it.
We see Truth commercials all the time, about the effects of smoking. The most memorable ones are the ones in which a guy is speaking with a hole in his throat and a surgeon is performing an endoscopic surgery of lung cancer. Those were enough to make me "just say no." However, someone people feel that they are invincible and that these effects will never happen to them or they just never take the effects into consideration until it is too late, kind of like people's views on HIV/AIDS.
