  • The medics took their sweet time getting there...

  • they put mats everywhere except where they sheuld be

  • one word come to mind..

    WOUNDERRRRRRR

    and

    BROOK!

  • poor guy that certainly should have hurt like hell!!!

  • iv been watching a few of these vids, they make it look so easy, then i was this one, which, for me, shows how serious a single miss judgment could be...

    was very nice uptill then.

  • Oooooh, that looked nasty - coupla bonus broken ribs for effort!w

    Awesome manouver though

  • Poor guy, Should have looked into his move a bit more. That move would have been perfect if he only judged it right.

Great performance all round though, hope he's alright.

  • competition is good, brings the best out in people and evolves the sport to new heights in general, having a championship is always a wonderful idea, gives something for existing and new aspiring freerunners something to strive for.

  • man he was doing soo well then that one fatal flaw messed him up, he did great anyway i give him props

  • SARGE SARGE SARGE SARGE !!! admirable bro, eres un heroe no cualquiera se quiere levantar despues de eso, te deseo lo mejor, si se cae se levanta YEAH!!! lo mejor para ti sarge!!!

  • damn that hurts, but he is still great no matter what,an ordinary people cant do those things,he's a freerunner and im proud if him

  • Ces genres de competition ne devrait pas exister!! C'est n'importe quoi sa devient trop commercial, c'est nul. Je suis contre

  • freerunning can be competitive if it likes, i dont really care, there are no "rules" in freerunning which prevent it.

But as long as Parkour preserves it's dignity and freedom im happy.

  • Yeah, Parkour ftw

  • in these guys seperate videos they are amazing, its jus this doesnt even look challenging for them

  • they aren't that good (compared to wht i have seen)

  • no fluidity or nuffin , quite boring to watch :S

    pk

  • He sort've bailed like 20 seconds in...

  • he didnt bail he just totally chose the wrong movement

like choosing a vault for a cliff

  • which kinda resulted in a bail...

but would have been sick if he nailed it!!! :D

  • i think there was some fluidity but i think parkour has much more in it and thats why i like parkour better :)

  • Good for him :)

Freerunning Isnt supose to be a competition Sport.

    F*CK World Championship...

Its gonna destroy the sport, júst like soccer.

Its not a show. Its an art. And every runner should know when their messing it all up.

  • that guy tryed to put on a good show, if you play it slowly, he actually saves himself by half-catting it before slipping off. i bet anyone less talented would have simply smashed head first into it and died. props to him for trying!

  • knocked the wind out of him huh. better luck next event!

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Gutted

  • Quit with the arrogance. QUIT WITH THIS FUCKING MUSIC! And finaly were these athletes even aware of what the course looked like before they performed. Because half of it seems to be them throwing their arms around aimlessly whilst looking around the place.

  • I don't suppose anyone knows the name of the song?

    Also myafroisthecoolest it's not pride,

The more free running is commercialized and publicized the more opportunities there are going to be for people,

Companies are starting to use free runners more in adverts etc and this publicizes it more,

I'd love a job as a free runner and I'm sure half the people here would as well,

Anyway if you got the chance to be in the world championships wouldn't you take the chance?

  • Oh okay sorry, what was your point?

  • pride comes before a fall... sorry but i think he had it coming... what happened to 'no champions, no leaders, no egos'? those at the top have lost sight of the true principles of parkour/freerunning... people should take note

  • 'no champions, no leaders, no egos'

Sorry, I just really liked how that sounds!

Ah yes - that's because that is what true freerunning and parkour is all about.

    ;o)

  • The guy who falls is the best reason why not to organise competition, stop with it you see what will happen

  • Is this freerunning?? It's even worse then I tought. You see what competition does to freerunning. No concetration, no flow, just some backflips & some vaults. My opinion: Not worthy of being called freerunning.

  • i agree lol

  • Everything they do is for the entertainment and approval of the crowd - where's the freedom in that?

  • It's there choice, They free to compete no ones forcing them. The crowd approval is a s much for them as it is for us. They feel good when they know they have entertained.

BUT I have to admit the lack of fluidity put me off this event. all the stopping and starting was annoying.

  • i was there it was really gd i had to go all the way to london and the person who fell omg tht was bad he went to hospital but was out before the show ended but he didnt come back :( and i met kerby there it was gd i gt a picture with him and he said hes ginna enter nxt year and tht the person fell becouse he rushed

  • This guys style is gash.

  • Its not cool if you can do 1000 vaults once.

But if you can doe 1 vault 1000 times perfect!

  • Now you see what you get when you put competition in freerun. Sebastien foucan himself said there should be no competition in freerun.

  • and thats why competition doesn't work.

  • Not really.

Competition is against the whole point of free running, that's why it doesn't work.

If it was just about safety then you could compare it to scateboarding, or BMX.

  • No me parece prudente el vid.

    pero bueno ahi esta.

Ojala y sarge se recupere pronto.

    Ánimo!!

  • A Wonder!

I can belive it when i see that hes alive and stand on hes feeds! It was realy the worst bail i ever see in my live and the hole roundhous was under shock for a moment! Sarge i a Natural Boy with great skill, he is a Mexican hard guy and very shympathic, God bless him!

  • Star Chamber wish Sarge well. Star Chamber are pleased to be involved in promoting this cutting edge sport with their music. Various tracks accompany this and the other Barclaycard World Freerun Championship 2008 videos. Visit the myspace starchamber to find out more. Tracks are also available on iTunes. Congratulations to the winner and all involved in this cool event. Looking forward now to 2009!

  • Cool tunes.

As artists yourselves you should probably be aware that free running is not a sport, it's an art.

Rho (Street Tracers).

I hope you make a quick recovery Sarge, I respect the fact that you got back up. Anyway, I loved those flips you pulled off before your fall! Respect, Rho (Street Tracers).

  • Well despite all of the comments as to why this event was not what people made it to be...

Jorge if you see this, hope you are recovering smoothly.

  • lol im in this vid (0:57 black hat) it was a good nite but could have been alot better had the athletes cared more bout their performance thn th ecrowd cheering and the stage had been bigger, anyways im hopin to compete nxt yr and win it :D

    Lio

  • Freerunning is not about performance. You do it for yourself. This was therefore not freerunning ... I don't know what you'd call it, an Acrobatic/tricking contest maybe. Then of course it wouldn't sound as cool and the sponsors would be less interested.

The business community must hate the fact it costs nothing, yet gives so much to the practitioners. They will try and sell you anything, and in this case they'll convince you your crap unless you win their worthless trophy.

    Don't buy it.

  • Parkour is definitely not for competition but I disagree about free running, the reason this competition didn't work out as well as people hoped is because:

1.what was up with the arena, it was so small, a load of free running is done in open spaces and with actual running involved which would be impossible there

2.they obviously didn't know what to do, in the olympics etc they plan everything done to the last step

The guys are obviously great free runners but this comp didnt do them justice

  • i loved the way blue found his touth about half an hour later

  • omfg.... it's looks not so dificuilt, but this fall is aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • event looked rediculous, thats a prime example of complacency and sloppy movements put together to show of and provoke a reaction. Other 'competitors' i respect what they did, but the morals behind the event are off.

  • I agree partly, from what I've seen I don't like the design of the obstacle area they made for the event and also every performer I've watched was much too occupied with the crowd watching rather than their own performance and in this case safety.

  • Well said.

  • unlucky dude..

  • That was very silly.

  • Wow....what a wipeout!!!

  • Unlucky bail, good start though.

  • quem gira vai pro inferno... eu disse.
