  • I recently bought the Saffire 6 USB and every couple of days, a blue screen will come up saying something about the driver power failed and windows shut down. Ive talked to Focusrite and they arent much help as to why this is happening, but telling me ways that could fix it and so far nothing has. I uninstalled everything just to make sure it is the Saffire causing this error. Does anyone know the problem?! I like the sound when it works but i hate that blue screen of death! PLEASE HELP!!

  • ima get this XD

  • Where can i find the serial number?

  • how the hell o ya plug a guitar into this thing?

  • @KellyOnDrums in the front of the Saffire!!! And they are great!!!

  • @KellyOnDrums The two front inputs are combo XLR/plugs. You can plug either a mic or a 1/4" cable into either. If you plug in 1/4" it automatically changes to line level. If this line level is from an instrument, press the button to switch the impedance. This is standard functionality on all such interfaces.

  • @ vidswatchingguy: There is no sonic difference between USB1.1 and USB 2.0. Think of your USB cable as a pipe. For the purposes of these interfaces, both "pipes" provide all the required data beyond what the DAW is asking for.

@ Bleaksolaris: As far as your USB question the same applies, however if I were looking to choose between the Edirol or a Focusrite, I would care far more that the specs on the mic pre's blow the Edirol away. That and Focusrite has been making mike Pre's for 25 years!

  • do you know if USB 1.1 gives lower sound quality on recordings than USB 2.0 ?

  • How much difference is there. Etween this USB 1.1 and a card with USB 2 ( Roland ua 55 for example)?

  • I woudl also like to know the answer to @someonewithguitar 's question. I want to record guitar with a 57 and a rode nt2 with a -10 pad at once

  • Can you connect dynamic mic and condenser mic simultaneously with this?

    Thanks

  • @someonewithguitar Yes, but one limitation of this unit is that the phantom power switches for BOTH inputs together. With a proper cable and a dynamic mic in good repair, it should not matter if you send it phantom power. But I prefer not to take risks which is why a unit with individually switchable phantom is better (but would cost more).

  • Hi all

Is someone running Focusrite Saffire 6 USB with Linux Ubuntu, Ubuntu Studio?

    if someone, pls respond

  • you must work for Focusrite, you're like a goddamn salesman. surely there must be ONE flaw in a $200 device.

  • @alexlikestoskate Hahaha, dont just take it from me, there is a reason many magazines and blogs are saying the same thing. Limitations, sure it has a couple but at $199 for this level of kit it still blows me away.

  • BONOOOOOOO!!

  • look at this bono lookin ass nigga

  • what do you use it for??

  • i have this running thru my KRK rokit 5's and into sonar home studio 7 .. i got it to HALF work .. i can hear thru my headphones but not my monitors and i can record and see the soundwaves but its a silent recording when i play it back? idk what to do

  • my altervative outputs dont work... do i need to activate them?

  • hey I have a very urgent question. Do i need any especial cable to connect a microphone to it? what about those two inputs; what type of cable connects into them?

  • Can I connect my studio monitors to them?

  • @cen208 if you use a line cabel you can!

  • Is the latency as good or better than the Fastrack Ultra?

  • clark kent? superman, yes? haahahahahaaaha

  • on win7 64 - this thing sucks! Noise, system faillures, confusing drivers of other usb devices, low output, not able to configurate it with my daw or dj software! I am just 1 second away from kickin it into the trashcan!

  • @derGEHOERMASSEUR

do you have any better suggestions for win7 64bit ?

  • @derGEHOERMASSEUR Buy an RME input device and never look back. Of course it will cost more but works better and sounds top class.

  • @RobinParmarSound I've read reviews of people who preferred Focusrite to RME just saying.

  • @brandon5pennies RME uses technology in their hardware that gets ultimate compatibility from each interface. Their drivers are second-to-none and support is always there. The free software that comes with each unit (monitoring, mixing, recording, etc.) has no equivalent in any other make of I/O. One can argue sound quality back and forth, but these other aspects are factual. The only downside is their expense, no doubt there.

  • @RobinParmarSound I know RME makes higher quality interfaces but for the money Focusrite is arguably the best bang for your buck. If RME was in this price range there would be no contest.

  • @brandon5pennies But if it doesn't work at all (as in the post I was responding to) then it isn't worth anything, so saving money is a moot point. People at least deserve to know that there are superior alternatives. This video fails to make this most obvious point and is hence entirely misleading. Any reputable engineer would place the unit in the context of both cheaper and more expensive units.

  • Does this support 1 Pin mics

  • Does it support 1 pan mics

  • CAPO

  • i did some demos with the safari 6 and its the best my song have the best fidelity of any song :) check out my wall the song .... the birthday song. hopefully is inspires you do buy this good product.

  • i dont see any input for Guitar smh

  • @chinkyeyez20 The inputs that he first mentions have 1/4 inch inputs, so yeah it does accept guitar... I think.

Damnit Focusrite, you really need to make this more clear.

  • @chinkyeyez20 those big holes in the XLR mic connection also double as inserts for guitar/instrument cables. It's a common trick these days.

  • it 's ok , i find a solution : when i record ,in cubase i create a sound output in the connection the i link the output of the record to the second output , in this way i don't have anymore and i can record without probleme , i write this coment , because this product is a good interface , with good converter , so ......it's normal to be just , with this very good product !!! thank focusrite , i improuve the quality of my record , with this mobile solution !!

  • i don't understand what he say , but be carreful with this interface ,there is no direct monitoring , i have bought one ..it sound very good , a real improvement compare wuth fa 66 or m audio 24/96 but it's diffucult to record without monitoring , you ear your voice with an echo .and if you change the latency you obtain a big phase return ..you can record , but i think today in 2011 direct monitoring should be a minimum to record in good condition , i don't regret the sound is fantastic

  • do you have drivers for 64 bit win 7.......thx

  • how is the latency on this thing with condenser mics?

  • NOPE , PUT A BIT MORE MONEY AND GET RME BABYFACE.

  • is this sound card good .. i am making a home studio .. i have microphone rode ntA-1 .. is it good for me?

  • @ninetysixGroup more depends on your computer do you have firewire or usb. Also if usb GET THIS. if firewire (MAC) get the Saffire pro 14...Also Focusrite is launching the scarlett interface which is usb2.0 now. If you buy a Focusrite interface you will be happy. If you plan on having a pro home studio also look into the ISA430 mkII the air feature with the nt1-A = amazing. p.s. get a nice pop filter with that Rode mic they really pick up lip smacks/pops. hope that helps.

  • @Billard9 thanks ;)

  • I got one! :D

  • How much is it?

  • I have 1 of these, they're deadly xD

  • Nice done review. Thanks!

I'm curious what's that white piece of gear right behind you. It looks like a groovebox or a drum machine.

  • @catapsihopatu Its a Quasimidi Rave-o-Lution....

  • @Raydensheraj Thanks mate!

  • haaa great feeling knobs!!!! I'm definatly buying one!!!

  • first thing i said when the vid came up, "BONO!"

  • @3stylezproductions

    Hahah, he's like a Bono/Bubbles hybrid. Bubbo!

  • Hi, i have purchased "saffire 6 usb" last week but some issues have occured.i have downloaded the latest drivers and at first the interface seems to work normally. Every time i plug a mic or a guitar in and press the opposite button of line in, all the devices seem to work properly as well and i can record my voice or the guitar, but after a few minutes of use, my laptop suffers a total crash (!) and this forces me to restart it in the hard way.

  • i have been using several software such as audacity, mixcraft and ableton, all with the same results.I've already tried reinstalling the latest focusrite drivers, uninstalling microsoft drivers or even increasing ram from 1G to 3G but nothing changed. My system's runs windows 7/32 bit-1.83Ghz-3G ram.

  • @Ibanez2570P

i just bought the saffire 6 i run windows 7 and all my usb ports are 2.0 so far no problems and sounds great. help this helps!

  • hey, is this better than the novation nio?

  • thanks for this great review man, i've been looking so much recently and i'm assured this is a good decision

  • Foxerz is right about the TRS cables, mines stuck too, and its not coming out, so I don;t really know what to do. Besides that, best interface by far, USB 1.1 or not, no difference here. Plugged it in and was recording in 5 minutes or less, with Windows 7x64, and Sonar 8.5.3 PE.

  • I love great feeling knobs.

  • @Ibanez2570P

I got mine 1 month ago,it really worth its price, just download latest drivers,no problem whatsoever under Win 7 64 bit OS.it really is amazing bug free interface.

  • This is a great interface. I have not used it live but i have been using it for my midi keys guitar and voclas. works great for condenser ribbon mics. But i warn you with cheap TRS cables. Do not buy cheap TRS cables and use them on this. This has happened 2 times to me and i have had to replace it 2 times. The TRS gets jammed to the point that if you pull it out, you will pull apart the TRS cable before you break the interface. But then the other end is stuck in the box.

  • @Foxerz This just happened to me, what did you have to do to get it fixed? I live very far away from the music store, thanks.

  • @graysquirrel36 PS, for those wondering sounds great, no problems with Windows 7 x64, and Sonar 8.5.3 through JBL monitors!!!!

  • Nice, thanks :)

  • That guy looks like a porn star.

  • i gonna get one this month, i cant wait!

  • In the picture i see the USB port with the 1.1 standard? It's ok or this device is USB2.0 ??

  • @EngineV8 Yep.. i'm using it with USB 2.0 and it's working great

  • this is wicked it should be 2grang people best preamp and sound card

  • Hi im BONO

  • @oscarbrouwer Are you recording from a Dj mixer? I have a Mac and want to record my sets into Garageband/Logic. I used to have a Maudio Firewire400 and like you my sound was affected due to the sound being low while recording and when i turned up the mixer the recording would start to clip in Garageband! Im looking for a something that can handle high sound output.

  • does this work on a mac?

  • @GoodyGreatGiggles

WORKS ON PC AND MAC plug-&-play

  • can you record two things instruments at once?

  • Hey, Is there any need for an external preamp with this? Im using the SHURE SM7B mic. Also, does this work with Cubase aswell? Thanks

  • @ApocalypseDawnMusic I have your exact setup. No, but basically without another preamp you MUST have the gain at the full 10. And you still have to sing right into the mic a foot away.

  • Can i use it with windowws 7?plizzz :D thanks

  • @xOpTiCBeATzZ1 you cann .. i do

  • bought an m-audio fast track pro then I heard about this ... shame on me ! .. they both cost the same $199.99 ! >_<*

  • cant get the headphones to work ne1 got an idea????

  • getting one on monday for $180

  • This guy is cool.

  • i've figured it most out, even though it's extremely confusing, and you of course have to make input/output 'saffire 6 usb' but sometimes it doesn't work and there is NO sound in my earphones. annoying!

  • @MyMerryMelodies as you said - its annoying!

  • Oh and if you have a MAC and it's not working properly you need to try and unplug other external devices like firewire drives and such.

  • Just got my Saffire 6. On windows 7 64bit. It sounds very nice and drivers are good. With the minimum buffer, control panel says Input Latency 3.3ms, output 4.2ms! Glitch free audio too. I set it to 5.3/7.3 in and out latency as this is glitch free while my CPU idles at 1 GHz.

Headphone out is NOT independent. Headphone is output 1-2 switchable to 3-4.

Last time I turned PC on I had to unplug and replug USB to get sound out. Still looking into this.

  • @xdmasson sucks to me

  • @xdmasson how did u do this? got same setup and it sucks...

  • @derGEHOERMASSEUR You just plug it into a USB port after installing the drivers.

  • i just bought one of these and i could not be happier with it. Build quality is great and the sound as you would expect is clean and crisp.Installation was hasslefree and i'm running vista 64x. very happy over here.

  • Does anybody know if this would work on Ubuntu (OS linux)???

  • @MaghoxFr i think there are tweaked drivers, yes.

  • Does the phantom power switch, activate power on both inputs or just one?

  • @v1o Yes it does I have one it works great!

  • Comment removed

  • @ samsaturos- yes the headphones output is indepentent.

@ phatracer3- i've had the same issues with mine but discovered an easy way to fix them. just unplug the usb (the end connected to my laptop) for 5 seconds and then plug it back in. for some reason, it resets and then it works fine again. may be a pain but works for me. you don't lose anything you're working on either. i use ableton and its fine. not sure bout others programs but its ok with ableton. cheers.

  • @modernless lucky one - my dont work with ableton..

  • i have talked to technical support, and they are working on it. But if they arent done by next month, i am going to return this one and buy a m-audio profire 610

  • i have had problems with this interface, this things sounds great and has great preamps, but i am running this on a mac mini with 2.53ghz, a intel core 2 duo processor with 4gb of ddr3 ram, and at least five times a day i would be playing music on itunes or making beats on reason, or record, and the audio would cut out. Or i would be watching youtube videos and the videos would stop playing sound, and the video would just be in fast forward mode. This interface definately has driver issues

  • @phatracer3 yes it has

  • Can you give me any clue as to how to set up the sound card latency? I need to set mine up so i can use it to record, but im not sure how to link it up to my softwear, which is fruity loops sl studio! Any help would be mega.

  • The headphones output isn't independent, right?

  • @samsaturos There are independent
