i use to have a bichon frise. till i moved and my parents decided to take her to the pound. When i was at school i came back looking for her. then my parents told the news to me. after i begged for days to bring her back we went to the pound to claim her back they said they put her to death 30 minutes ago. she was my first dog ever and i had her for 5 years. i will always love my beloved coco.

@asiangirl761 Why should your parents have to raise your dog while you are gone? i find it very wierd that the pound would just put a young bichon frise down, as small dogs are highly sought after. makes no sense.

and breeders are no better than puppy mills. your all producing puppies when there is a world full of unwanted animals. your no better than any of them. your out to make a buck, period.

You should always get the puppy DIRECTLY from the breeder, after seeing BOTH the parents. A good breeder will NEVER ship a puppy - putting a puppy in the cargo hold of a jetliner is creul beyond words, as the separation from the litter is traumatic enough. Any breeder willing to ship a puppy IS NOT concerned with the welfare of the dog - which should be a huge red flag.

My friend just bought a 8 week old bichon puppy from a breeder in Clearwater FL yesterday, his name is Theo, he is one of the most adoreable, healthiest puppies iv ever seen

I had my Bichon till he died at 17.5 years of age. If he is a purebred with papers then expect to pay a bit more. I think my stepfather paid around $800 for my "son". They said they gave him a discount cause the little thing was a runt...my baby was not a runt...he was big in his mind!

A breeder is the BEST thing you can do.

You have no idea how many puppies are affected by puppy mills.

A TRUE BREEDER will care for the puppies and sell them at an appropiate age. Not only you should be allowed to see the parents, but healthy puppies come out of it. Hence, Longer life companions.

Only breeders should breed. Not normal people.

Raising puppies is not a cheap task. And breeders are the cheapest option. You can also adopt. That's cool too. :)

@Gallion i agree to stay away from anyone but a breeder. we bought our first bichon online and he we had to put him down 4 days later and 3 thousand lighter due to a liver shunt. please dont make the same mistake! we have 2 bichons, both bought from a breeder locally and are very happy with them. good luck

The breeder who I bought my Bichon Frise from not only sent me an application but also interviewed me too, I liked this and also she kept in touch to check on Lily as although she is now my dog she feels she is a sort of Grandma as Lily's mom and father are her dogs. She genuinely loves Bichons and for her it's a joy breeding them and finding good homes for them so others like myself can have joy in their homes from these beautiful loving dogs!

Your dogs are beautiful, but please, please, make sure that you do an intensive interview (perhaps a 4-5 page questionnaire) of prospective buyers. I work with bichon rescue, and there are some really abusive people out there. Know who will be caring for your precious babies. They need to be protected, as they are defenseless. God bless them.
