I bought a mighty mite neck too, and I have to say that it is very good stuff. I wanted to make an experiment with this neck, and it turns out to be one on my best neck ever!
@thedistortedguitar1 The mighty mite was pretty nice. I replaced it with a Warmoth neck several months ago. I paid around $600 for it, so the quality is top notch. (SS Frets, Wizzard Profile, 3A Birdseye)
Is the EVH Frankenstein pickup F-spaced? Eddie's original one wasn't and that's why he had to angle it to make the magnetic poles align better with the strings . Just asking because I'm interested in getting one if they're F-spaced. :)
@Jackadee321 Yes, pretty good for the money. The warmoth neck is about twice as much or more. I had to have the frets cleaned up as they were a little rough.
It had a nice fit. All I had to do was line up the neck and drill the holes. I was pleased with the quality of it. I plan on replacing it next year with a kramer style warmoth neck (reverse banana style).
Oh okay. What did you use to shim it? I'm just curious because everyone has their own way it seems...(^_^) I always use some left over wood pieces and work on them until they fit. ^^
Right now, I just shimmed the mounts with metal nuts. This is leaving the middle of the pickup suspended. I was going to cut some wood and fill this area with it so the pickup is fully resting on it.

why did you do the copper shielding, what use does it have?
cheers
ThrashingBuddha 11 months ago
@ThrashingBuddha Shield from electrical noise. It creates a barrier for the control cavity and cover.

your body doesn't have parts of it cut out for the floyd so do you need that.

marineman825 1 year ago

hows the tone of the EVH with the swamp ash body?
darkmagicforce 2 years ago
Not what I expected. It is a little thin. I'm going to try a Seymour JB and see if it improves.
Earnhardt12345 2 years ago
really? i have a jb in my esp. its good but it lacks definition in a lot of places. just see how it works out.

It's probably the birdseye maple neck.

How did you mount the pickup to the body? I mean don't you need to shim it? It must be pretty low, not to say out of range...?
megatroll 2 years ago
It is shimmed up. It is about 1/8" under the strings.
