To clarify the whole Luffy/Ruffy thing: Oda originally romanized his name as Ruffy wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy back when it started to be localized outside Japan. Then, not being fluent in English, he realized his mistake and changed it to Luffy. This means that, regardless of whether or not it is a mistranslation, Luffy is his official name outside of Japan according to Oda himself.
