When David was in Iraq, he and his team worked really hard to transform that nation, so its citizens could emerge from the persecution of the tyrants and terrorists that infested that land.
Most politicians do not represent what I & others want to see in them. Many act like imperialistic kings instead of ordinary people. They're disconnected from the people, & always end up serving themselves. This country is screaming for change. We get officials who get more breaks than schools. No real solutions to any problems. EXAMPLE, Immigration, What are they doing?Nothing , to concerned about offending someone, & its not Americans they're worried about.
he knows much better hes smarter and sneaker then bush is like dont cover up his actioons hes comes from same gan as bush come on u fightin in iraq for they fuel there is no terorists and besaid and how manny bilion of money they spend there ? for what ? why they just dont take thouse money and buyld better school sistems or give better pensions for older poeple or just poor familys so fuck u maybe its just me but it all doesint make sens (my english is shit but your first learn my language
Obama is the worse thing to happen to he planet since the dinosuars dies and prbably worse then h1n1 he dosen't desreve to be considered black. and Samyriana you say your not oppressed but do the men where you at no your using a computer right now and if you were educated you wouldn't be muslim casue you know the truth about all religion
and by the way, Obama is what happenned best to USA until now, believe I am Muslim, I am a girl, I am educated and not opressed, and I'm prouf of my religion and respect all the others, open minded enough to point out the negative of my owns people when I feel they are wrong, and I can tell you, Bush destroyed your dignity your respect, all along with your economy and progress, Listen to Obama, he is a good human being with a good heart, Peace for all the children and grown-ups.
omg! r u blind! jeese do u even know wut hes doing! he hasnt done anything good and the only thing he has been doing now is saying sorry to any country he can think off. oh and raising taxes. btw tell me when the stimulous packages are going to be working cause all we have now is a thing called bills! ya thats good work. do u even know that 50 million people in the united states are illegal immigrants. ya we have to pay for all their crap to. so get a life and get ur facts str8 for once! jeese
ya we finally get some money and he has a way to spend it =D lets pay off our debt now wasting it on stuff that doesnt work. did he do anything that he said he would do?
ya and it is there for LEGAL immigrants. why do you think that they put the posts on islands. also its 40 million people without health care and 15 million of those people dont want it. are you praposing we have universal healthcare? are you will to pay for other peoples health care. ya think on that
Well you already pay for other people's children to go to school, for the police to protect other people.
Most of the European Countries have Healthcare for everyone, It's a right, everyone gets high quality treatment.
Europe already know that Education and Health Care should be free to everyone, not just the rich, the U.S need to realise that sooner, for the good of the Americans.
dude i dunno the hell who is olbermann, i'm telling YOU that if the 'rules' u're talking about has been followed, and if bush did not target any civilians, i wouldn't be posting any comments about any babies daying! peace
Uhh, the fall of an Iranian theocracy would adversely affect Hezbollah, among others. Al-Qaeda and Iran are not tied, the former is Sunna and the latter is Shia.
my point is that the best way to defeat terrorism in that area of the world is to take over the countries who harbour and supply terrorists (ie Iran and Syria) i use Al- Qaeda as an example because not everyone knows about Hezbollah and Hamas
No...you back out, bring everybody home, leave the freakin' place alone. Let them run their lives, their economies, their governments. Become a benign USA. A place no terrorist groups would WANT to attack. Become old news. If the big rich kids gang up and keep kicking the nerdy kids at the school, sooner or later those nerds will gun the place down. If you keep picking at the middle east, the USA will always appear to be a tyrant. Ask yourself...why isn't Canada a tad fearful of terrorism?
if we leave, all we have done there would have been for nothing. 4000 americans would have died for nothing because another dictator will just step in and take over.
canada doesnt have any allies in the Middle East so they dont have any enemies in the middle east
No...it wouldn't have been for nothing. You had 8 years there. You killed 100,000+ of their peoples. Something. Their cities are bombed and destroyed. It looks like Call of Duty 4, the video game. Your country got to make it's response. One day 9/11 became 8 years in response. Forget trying to shape the political scene...it will NEVER work. Think of the stories about the USA passed down from father to son over the next 10 generations in the middle east...the bully won't win, EVER.
it can work though...it just takes a bit of will power from both the United States and the Iraqi people. if you form a government that doesnt accept terrorism and we help out- i think it can be done
Good comment.....I think it's amazing that so many people really believe in all these boogymen the government has created so they can start wars and protect us from them. Canada is not afraid of the boogyman because they don't believe in ghost stories....apparently, Obama does. 19 pissed off Arabs? That's sounds like one of those outrageous conspiracy theories that Bush warned us to "never tolerate".
Be vewy vewy kwiet.....I'm hunting tewworwists....
what do you know about the Quaida, do u know for sure it is in Iran, what do u know about Iran, or Islam or Quaida, or arabs, or anything beside what ur loca
local TV is trying to feed u fuck wars man, keep huging ur mug full or coke as well as ur slice of pizza, and switch off CNN, it's not doing ur culture any better
i'm a Marine captain and have served in Iraq since its started. I am tired, fustrated, dissapointed, and overall sad that many of my friends and soldiers have died for nothing. In the end we will not get anything from Iraq. I want to come home and be with my family and friends. I want to sit in my couch and watch football. I dont want to kill anymore people who we call insurgents yet they are morelikely nationalist who are fighting for their country. AMERICA helps us come home. help us.
he has a lot to learn, but he has the right direction and intelligence to adapt. that's the quality i noticed when i recognized him as potential before most did. he'll ask the right questions, get the right answers he needs, and use the information he gathers to make the right decisions. i'm interested to see his office run.

obama doesn't know shit about the war. three years in the senate, WOW! hail the fucking messiah. obama gets elected, you can count on bin laden and al Queda having a victory party. He will loose a war to win a campain. (USAF Hoorah)
where was all this shit talking right after we went over there? now that we kicked the talibans ass your cozy enough to bitch about bushs policy of winning. tv has nothing to do with why i want to win a fuckin war- if you knew what a war really was you wouldnt give me that shit about children being there. we dont target civilians(its against the "rules") grow a fuckin brain and stop spouting whatever kieth olbermann says- i look forward to your next comment!
Obama was right on the surge! He never said the surge wouldn't help to keep violence down, what he said was it wouldn't achieve Iraq's political goal. What helped the most was the agreement with the Shia's and Sunni's for a cease fire. Obama also said it would take our eyes off Afghanistan and Pakistan, and that our military would be underfunded and would be under in troops! OBAMA HAS BEEN RIGHT ON ALL THE MAJOR ISSUES. MCCAIN HAS NO RIGHT TO TALK ABOUT ATTENDANCE WHEN HIS IS THE WORST IN SENATE
Yo Rambo6310? that general poor thing, he looks pale under the light of the truth, the time has come to give some answers, a feedback, him and his heavy suit full of medals, those medals must be very heavy with blood and skulls and souls of innocent babies; whom been shot down, talking about targets, go keep playing ur video game, me talking about real shit, plz tell ur young people to come back home, and concentrate on rebuilding your own country, it's scrolling down
kawan, you dont get it. Listen to this video. First Bush will be out of the loop, second Barack will target the real issues with the government hand off, what do you think will fix this problem? Barack has a fresh look on the issue and he wont bring prejudice into it!
I don't like that cough after him saying he appreciates the sacrifices they are both making. Body language says something- did he really mean that? It's not always what he says, but how he says it...
It seemed like a genuine cough- if you want to split hairs. That would be piss poor politicking at a time he's running for president and trying to get the "Reagan Democrats" on his side.
Had it been intentional, I think it would've been more enunciated and obvious.
"So your supposed to be a humanist while at the same time talking trash about a fellow human?"
Saying that is like jumping on someone who flamed you on the internet because they said they were a Christian.
Being a Humanitarian has nothing to do with not insulting someone stupid.
----
Also, who cares about the number of attacks "thwarted?" How can you say they wouldn't have been stopped before Bush? What was the last attack on American soil before 9/11? Pearl Harbor.
Therefore??? Is there someone who actually respects president Rain Man? wow
I agree with what Obama is trying to say. I think we should pull out because wether its now or 30 years from now Iraq will never function on its own. The truth is the only reason this conflict drags on is because certain people make of money of war. I've got friends in Iraq now, theres so much disinformation between there and the the US public is scary.
YES, youtube is under the same manipulating media "providers" as most tv news stations.
why do you think all Fox does is call out Obama for some crap his acquaintances say, in church, of all places?
What does that have to do with the actual man running for President? NOTHING
What does it have to do with the man who is currently President? again, NOTHING. the last thing the news media wants to do is call attention to the state of our county AS IT IS NOW, as it exists.
A man spends 20 years of his life attending a church headed by a man with racially charged...if not completely biggoted views. He stays in that church and 20 years later he doesn't denounce those opinions - instead he calls that man his 'spiritual advisor' and appoints him to a top level of his own personal staff.
What does that have to do with anything? How is this man's judgment? Isn't that a MAJOR factor in your decision if someone should lead an entire nation? His ability to judge people and circumstances?
And about your schooling - don't think that more school = better judgment. As we see with Obama and your lack of ability to see any valid reason to pay attention to people he chooses to keep close to him - more schooling clearly doesn't mean you make better decisions.
-Read my 3 posts starting at the bottom and moving up-
That said - I personally would meet with any person who could potentially change the course of a country - so if Akmadinajhad or however you spell it - if he can change iran's course - I would be confident enough that I could make a difference and I would make that meeting. As leaader of the "free world" as they say, I would expect no less. Bush is not a true leader. Problem with Obama is he is weak.
Obama was poised and prepared and respectful to Petraues, who has the awful and impossible job of cleaning up after the fools who launched this trillion dollar abortion. His line of questioning was well focused on attempting to elicit from Petraeus a sense of just when, in the coming millenium, it might be reasonable to....stop the bleeding and come home. The response he was rewarded with had no more value than a dial tone.
The trillion dollare abortion has kept america safe for the past 7 years. Im sure youll be the first to cry for help from the government if something does happen. The world is an ugly place and sometimes war is necessary.
Your right, because Petraeus is being told by the powers that be, "prepare for an occupation".
The American people have been getting "dial tone" speeches, and answers, for 8 years. I just don't know how some people accept that, even applaud that.
It's because too many Americans have become lazy, and accept the words of Blitzer, Coulter, or O'Reily as their own.
Doesnt matter what school he graduated from. The man has no history in politics. Hes lawyer who can talk slick....those are a dime a dozen. If he is so smart why doesnt he write his own speeches, of which have made him a superstar. One thing is for sure Obama is definately smarter than YOU are. LOL
parade of horribles here we go ..spent most of the time stumping for president..at one time said i will as k this question u dont have to answer it may be a repeat anyway geeez peeez I will never vote for this man
obama is right if us is strnjoger in the world it has to speak and

If there was ever a person who fit the label of "empty suit" its this man. He is a snake oil salesmen...sounds good and thats about it. God help us if he wins the election.
Yeah, uh and empty suit implies that the peson in the suit is an empty head. So, if your trying to insult someone at least think it through. This man is famous because he gave a speech one time. A speech HE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH. LoL. BTW, under Bush our economy has seen a record boom. Even bigger than during the 90's. Look up the facts not opinion. Numbers dont lie, people lie about the numbers.
whatever imnot arguing about obama i like him but i was saying that how long hbush wants blame iran iranian hate alghaede mr bush i have question howmant times did u speak with alghaede?how much did u pay to em?how long u had conversation with each other? han?now he want blame iran.their country(iran)the majority of iranian are shia but alghaede are sooni btw alghaede arenot muslim cuz they just call em muslim but they rnot imnot an iranian but i believe that bush is with algha
Im sorry man i cant understand what your saying. But I do have one question for you, do you believe Iran over President Bush? That man has stated he wants to pursue genocide. Do you take his side?
no i dont believe iuran but i do believ that bush is lier he just want to use or manipulat iran cuz as we know iran has rich story and rich it is rich country and bush want to use em from different way btw i dont believ iran as well but i do belive which is bush is with alqade cus majority of iranian are shia so how can they were together its unbelieveable i dont believe that bush just wanna blame iran for nothing..just call em teroist
You said you dont believe Iran and then went on and stated why you believe Iran over Bush. So which is it. I thnk i know what it is. Your such a bush hater that your blind with hatred even when it comes to the homicidal maniac in Iran. Your blinded with rage and its sad.
not dear i hate both govern they wanna argue with each other all the time but yes i do hate bush cuz i hate him cuz i know what kind of human is he i dont like us which is in iraq and killing people in iraq in the other hand i dont like iran which is they talkin about iraq or they are in iraq or whatever anyway peace..
Your absolutely right but majority of Bush policies have not been failure. Therefore I can only assume that people who say these things say them because they hate the man. As far as Obama goes how can I hate a man I know nothing about. Hes a junior senator who has said nothing but CHANGE for 9 months. Believe me if i hated him, I would be admit it.
if you consider the rampant commercialization and promotion of TERRORISM in places where it doesn't exist, and cover-ups, lies, and disinformation coming out of places where it tears countries and people apart, a "good policy", then yeah your right.
OUR NATIONS CURRENCY AND VALUE TO OTHER COUNTRIES IS FALLING APART AT THE SEAMS, AND YOU SUPPORT THIS ADMINISTRATION?
yah i told u i hate him i dontknow why somepeople like him?he is bullshit im sorry but its true also i hate ahmaghi nejad too and their govern but bush is bigshittt.
Gas is $3 something in early 2008, without us even seeing the end of the usual summer "boom" in gas prices.
Those are the numbers that matter to ME. Also, the record deficit that Bush managed to turn Bill's record surplus into in a mere 4-8 years is amazing too.
Why don't YOU look at the numbers, like our National Debt, the Unemployment rate, the Foreclosure rate, and Gas prices.
Gas prices has very little to do with the president. The deficit has been cut in half. Bush had to deal with 9/11 and enron. Bill only road the internet bubble and by the end of his term the whole country was in a recession directly because of his actions. Foreclosures are because of shotty lending. Why dont you wake up and see that the economy has had the largest boom it ever had. Your just another bush hater.
largest debt yet recorded (you're a dumbfuck for not including iraq war into your voodoo calculations for debt)
large inflation for nearly all goods
absolutely stagnant growth throughout
record profits for absurdly small group of business executives
yeah that's just about the largest boom ever, except the boom you are hearing is the sound of this country fucking exploding over the disaster that was the bush presidency
How bout the truth now. Largest job creation in the nations history, no attacks since 9/11 with over 20 thwarted, Gas inflation is not controlled by the president. Any other stupid liberal beliefs you have that I can dispell. Cmon gimme some more so i can take you to school again.
Your an idiot who has been brainwashed by the mainstream media. I would vote for Bush again if I could and he will go down as one of the best presidents in history. You are blinded by your personal hatred.
PS Escalating gas prices have little to do with Bush. Matter of fact if it werent for his actions we would be much worse off.
I've taken the best economics courses, with the best professors, our country has to offer. I clearly have a better handle on the current situation than you.
Bush will go down as one of the greatest presidents???? HAHAHA
No, he will be remembered as the president who ran the country as his own personal oil corporation: right into the ground.
All other disasters aside, how are you okay with what is happening to the value of our currency? The value of our citizens?
If you are so "educated" in economics surely you can appreciate the concept that economies are cyclical. Growth, recession, growth, recession, growth, recession...you get the idea? Personally, I am "okay" with what is happening with the value of our currency. If you were so educated, you would know a weaker dollar puts our domestic exports at an advantage on the world market. You are also a bit rusty on your history...remember the Japanese scare prior to late 1980s? Guess not.
Berkeley is not the "best" economic institution this country has to offer.
And I suggest you stop getting your news from Michael Moore, The Daily Show, and the Communist News Network. Rationalize the world for once and think on your own instead of spewing hateful propaganda everywhere.
If you really did take all those economy course you would know about economic cycles and understand why the dollar is in the shape its in. If your fancy school had and government classes you would also realize that the president doesnt micro manage everything that goes on in the economy. Marke my words, history will be kind to president Bush for the good he has done in such a turbulent time. You are too blinded by hate to see it. Thats sad.
Senator Obama is very naive to think that you can have a positive dialog with Iran's President. His poor judgment and lack of experience will only add to the problems America has to face.
Please how is IRAN 7000 miles away from America a problem.
Who gave America right to have any weapons at all. I am not Muslim or middle-eastern, my question why are you guys so imperialistic or superiority complex.
Trade and love people, dont get into other peoples family troubles - its going to be worse for you.
Executive Branch Dream Team = Dr. Ron Paul, Jesse Ventura, Mike Gravel, Dennis Kucinich, Cynthia McKinney, Robert Wexler, Marci Karput, Ralph Nadar, Russell Means, Peter Schiff. Bob Barr
yah i think this is good man go obama go!;)if us or bush or obama aevryone speak with iran freindly not muniplat their countries it become relationshp to each other i believe that!
I don't believe that if we leave Iraq that Al Qaeda will take over. This is McCain's and the neocons mistaken ploy. Think about it. The Shiites were the oppressed minority for years and now they are the majority in the government and militarily (including Sadr's militia). Shiites are the majority in Iran.
Do you think for one minute that Shiites would let a band of Al Qaeda who are Sunni's
Wackiavelli - exactly. I thought the best question in the entire hearing was whether Sadr was positioning himself to be Ayatollah of Iraq. Maybe the USA (via Iraq) should just attack Iran to stop that. Sounds very deja vu. Oh yeah. Saddam did that in the 80s.
This is a war of attrition. It can only be "won" if we stop declaring enemies and start declaring partners, including Iran. The US albatross is that we "broke it".
These hearings are a waste of time. They are just a forum for the politicians to wash their hands of responsibility even as they offer a podium for the neocons to push their asinine foreign policies.
It's too bad this hearing turned into a day for political posturing.
Obama needed to look presidential, show that he has a grasp on the facts, and ask questions he could use in a stump speech. He had a grasp of details and facts, but his interruptions were arrogant, so I guess he came across as presidential, since presidents are often arrogant, lol. And, I see today he is using all of this in his campaign speeches.
I'm so tired of Obama acting like a monkey throughing s**t against the wall trying to see what will stick. He's promised a new type of politics and spews lies and makes false statements about McCain and Clinton in every speech he makes. EXAMPLE: Accuses McCain of wanting a 100 years war when he knows McCain said we may have to occupy Iraq like we have Korea or Germany for 100 years. Rezko, Rev. Wright, Farakan, Weather Underground, are his associates; no wonder he's never been proud of U.S.
"taraballou " : are you literate ? the spell check is BUILT IN for christs sake. its not all that hard to hide your retardation, although from the "comments" youve regurgitated its clear you don't spend much time thinking for yourself.
widgetbrain, maybe your computer has a built in spellcheck, mine doesn't. What are you talking about, and why do you feel the need to be such an arse?
Obama using congressional hearings to campaign for President is disgusting. For over a year Obama has been Chairman of the Committee on Afghanistan and he has not called a single meeting (even though he says the war on terrorism in Afghanistan would be his focus if he were President). How can people be so blind? He has the power to do something about terrorism in Afghanistan now and he has done absolutely nothing! He has not held one meeting! Empty suit does not begin to describe Obama!
Obama is the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on European Affairs, not AFGHANISTAN!!
Andrew J. Fischer, a spokesman for Republican Sen. Richard Lugar, who is a minority staff member of the Foreign Relations Committee, said something as major as NATO's role in Afghanistan would typically be held before the full Foreign Relations Committee, rather than Obama's European subcommittee.
to camshaff: Obama is NOT chairman of a "committee on Afghanistan" its a Subcommittee on European Affairs. Clinton has implied that it had jurisdiction over terrorism in Afghanistan but a spokesman for Sen. Lugar (R) pointed out this is not really accurate- anything as major as NATO's role in Afghanistan would not be dealt with by that Europe subcomm. but the full Foreign Relations Com. But I still think its wrong for Obama not to have called mtgs, there are other things the comm. could address
Real questions? What are you talking about? Want to see real questions rewatch Kennedy and Biden questioning. His questions only showed how clueless he is.
omfg obama! I agree with 'troysr2005' Those were real questions which we all want answered. Its immposible to achieve what bush wants to achieve. Rethinking the ultimate goals of this ridiculious war would certainly bring this unnessesary killing (of innocent citezens of iraq) to an end. Good on you obama, YOU GOT BALLS.
He (obama) has made the most concrete and clear goals which are achievable, understandable. The truth is that there are other forces (military industrial complex, oil companies, political agendas) who would like to see this war go for ever. This is more of a fight of agendas rather than having this war ended and having a stable Iraq. Obama's statements and question confirms his commitments of having this war ended and a relatively stable Iraq.
I am an Obama supporter but this was not a very impressive performance by Obama. General Petraeous had to rephrase his first question and he was not assertive in asking specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time bound questions. He needs to do much better than this if he wants to win in November. I thought the General was very intelligent and he articulated his point very well but the ambassador is useless. I also thought Joe Biden asked the best specific questions... my 2 cents
Listen to him from the time 12:00 to 13:00. That's his point. He says "Bush's goal is intentionally set at such an impossible level that to achieve that US. has to stay in Iraq forever" and we middle-easterns know that even staying forever does not achieve that goal.
There's no sitting down and talking to Muslims 'cuz they've been brainwashed by the Koran and Islam to use talks and peace accords etc. for time to plan their next wave of attacks. This is called a HUDNA. They cannot be trusted at all.
Yasser Arafat was a perfect example of the Islamic mindset. He was given everything he asked for, but then turned it all down and launched his Intifada campaign against the Israelis, murdering thousands!
Remember that Obama was brainwashed by Islam as a child!
And you know all Muslims! and all Christians! and you know Yaser Arafat was given all he asked for which was his country given back to Palestinian people. Come on man, stick to something you know more about.
You have a very narrow minded biased view of things.
1. I urge you to check the facts surrounding every single agreement or meeting between Israelis and Palestinians, I assure you, in every single agreement, you will find the condition that Israel still maintains control of Palestinian roads, Check points, airspace, AND the right to build settlements on Palestinian land (Both west bank and Gaza)
By the day, the Palestinians' land shrinks, as Israel adds another new settlement to its territory
However, I'm not about to defend Arafat, I never particularly liked him!
However, you need to understand that every religion has extremists, and as christianity grew to become more fundamentalist during the middle ages, it was a direct result of the state of Europe during that time. It wasn't called the Dark ages for nothing. Muslims are currently living in their own version of the Dark Ages, with corruption and wars running wild, but that's not to say that they are all extremists!!
You are so right about Obama being brainwashed as a child. The school was only for a couple of years, but that is when a childs views can be easily shaped. We also have to take into consideration the years he was under the influence of his Muslim father and then his Muslim stepfather. Obama does lean toward the Muslim belief and Black Liberation Theology also leans that way. That is why he remained at Trinity Church for 23 years.
Islam is not peace. Terrorists are taught to use "peace" to buy time to plan for the next round of attacks. They call it a HUDNA. An ex-terrorist has admitted this since converting to Christianity, which btw is punishible by death and required in Islam! He knows it, but knows Christ has saved him, so he is now spreading the truth and warning others about the evils of Islam.
Search for and watch all of "PROPHECY: ISLAM AND SATAN"
America is disintegrating politically, militarily and economically, according to Ahmadinejad, who boasted that Iran's nuclear achievement is a turning-point in history that will change the international order prevailing since World War II.
I think that this was a good video to watch, good ?'s good points, the ambassador I don't know what that guy was talking about. ummmm....lets just leave
"And so I think that some of the frustration you hear from some of the questioners is that we have now set the bar so low ... is considered success, and it's not."
Mar 2008
"And, see, the problem I have is if the definition of success is so high, ... If, on the other hand, our criteria is a messy, sloppy status quo ... that seems to me an achievable goal"
Its really quite pathetic.... A decorated general trying to do his job, has to sit there and be interrogated as if it was his idea to war with Iraq. You are 100% right. Bush and Cheney should be there, not a General and a some pussy slack jawed ambassador
"pussy slack jawed ambassador" LMAO. perfect description. and ya u guys are so right, i feel for patraeus, but i honestly think he should just say fuck it, and tell it str8 to the american people how big of a clusterfuck bush put us in.
Of course not... there isn't even an army to fight. We can't say we're at war with iraq, and once we defeat the iraqi army we can claim success. Were at a war with terror. How do you defeat terror? erase the word from the dictionary? alot of people are terrorized by spiders... cant fight a war with a word.
All I know is that Al Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) has to be severely weakened, almost to a shell of its current state, before we should entrust the newly-formed Iraqi forces with dealing with it. It is beyond irresponsible to leave Iraq with a strong or even moderately-strong AQI behind. Honestly, it would probably be faster for us to cripple AQI then to wait for the Iraqi forces to strengthen enough. Given the progress we've made so far against AQI, I'd say we're probably about 3 years away.
text- not to mention its our moral duty to help out the iraqis who were displaced by the illegal war bush initiated. least we could do after we killed half a million CIVILIANS.
Wrong. Its much easier for AQI to UNITE Iraqis under the banner of Defeating the Invaders than it is to unite them against their own government forces. The presence of US Troops gives them a clear Target and makes their own government look like a puppet!
It's near impossible to achieve peace in Iraq as long as US has a presence there, muslims from all around the world will see the US as the oppressor and will flock to Iraq to Fight! You CAN continue killing them, only to see them easily replaced
Agreed...its probably all got to do with religion where a Muslim mentality is more agressive and hard-lined than non-Muslim nations like Vietnam, Germany et al. Its a pity really as they (Islam world) has no one else to blame but themselves for de-grading its reputation to rest of the world.

Well you already pay for other people's children to go to school, for the police to protect other people.
Most of the European Countries have Healthcare for everyone, It's a right, everyone gets high quality treatment.

my point is that the best way to defeat terrorism in that area of the world is to take over the countries who harbour and supply terrorists (ie Iran and Syria) i use Al- Qaeda as an example because not everyone knows about Hezbollah and Hamas
ccfb40 2 years ago
No...you back out, bring everybody home, leave the freakin' place alone. Let them run their lives, their economies, their governments. Become a benign USA. A place no terrorist groups would WANT to attack. Become old news. If the big rich kids gang up and keep kicking the nerdy kids at the school, sooner or later those nerds will gun the place down. If you keep picking at the middle east, the USA will always appear to be a tyrant. Ask yourself...why isn't Canada a tad fearful of terrorism?
kevinwayte 2 years ago 2
if we leave, all we have done there would have been for nothing. 4000 americans would have died for nothing because another dictator will just step in and take over.
canada doesnt have any allies in the Middle East so they dont have any enemies in the middle east
ccfb40 2 years ago
No...it wouldn't have been for nothing. You had 8 years there. You killed 100,000+ of their peoples. Something. Their cities are bombed and destroyed. It looks like Call of Duty 4, the video game. Your country got to make it's response. One day 9/11 became 8 years in response. Forget trying to shape the political scene...it will NEVER work. Think of the stories about the USA passed down from father to son over the next 10 generations in the middle east...the bully won't win, EVER.
kevinwayte 2 years ago
it can work though...it just takes a bit of will power from both the United States and the Iraqi people. if you form a government that doesnt accept terrorism and we help out- i think it can be done

YES, youtube is under the same manipulating media "providers" as most tv news stations.
why do you think all Fox does is call out Obama for some crap his acquaintances say, in church, of all places?
What does that have to do with the actual man running for President? NOTHING
What does it have to do with the man who is currently President? again, NOTHING. the last thing the news media wants to do is call attention to the state of our county AS IT IS NOW, as it exists.
that way, Bush is immune
bfurness80 3 years ago
A man spends 20 years of his life attending a church headed by a man with racially charged...if not completely biggoted views. He stays in that church and 20 years later he doesn't denounce those opinions - instead he calls that man his 'spiritual advisor' and appoints him to a top level of his own personal staff.
kawan222 3 years ago
What does that have to do with anything? How is this man's judgment? Isn't that a MAJOR factor in your decision if someone should lead an entire nation? His ability to judge people and circumstances?
And about your schooling - don't think that more school = better judgment. As we see with Obama and your lack of ability to see any valid reason to pay attention to people he chooses to keep close to him - more schooling clearly doesn't mean you make better decisions.

The response he was rewarded with had no more value than a dial tone.
dinnerbucket9 3 years ago 3
The trillion dollare abortion has kept america safe for the past 7 years. Im sure youll be the first to cry for help from the government if something does happen. The world is an ugly place and sometimes war is necessary.

Your right, because Petraeus is being told by the powers that be, "prepare for an occupation".
The American people have been getting "dial tone" speeches, and answers, for 8 years. I just don't know how some people accept that, even applaud that.
It's because too many Americans have become lazy, and accept the words of Blitzer, Coulter, or O'Reily as their own.

numbers:
Gas was $1 something in 2000.
Gas is $3 something in early 2008, without us even seeing the end of the usual summer "boom" in gas prices.
Those are the numbers that matter to ME. Also, the record deficit that Bush managed to turn Bill's record surplus into in a mere 4-8 years is amazing too.
Why don't YOU look at the numbers, like our National Debt, the Unemployment rate, the Foreclosure rate, and Gas prices.
digiverse34 3 years ago
Gas prices has very little to do with the president. The deficit has been cut in half. Bush had to deal with 9/11 and enron. Bill only road the internet bubble and by the end of his term the whole country was in a recession directly because of his actions. Foreclosures are because of shotty lending. Why dont you wake up and see that the economy has had the largest boom it ever had. Your just another bush hater.

bfurness80 3 years ago 2
bfurness80,
If you are so "educated" in economics surely you can appreciate the concept that economies are cyclical. Guess not.

And P.S.
Berkeley is not the "best" economic institution this country has to offer.

nickg797 3 years ago
If you really did take all those economy course you would know about economic cycles and understand why the dollar is in the shape its in. If your fancy school had and government classes you would also realize that the president doesnt micro manage everything that goes on in the economy.
Do you think for one minute that Shiites would let a band of Al Qaeda who are Sunni's
take over the country militarily or politically?
Wackiavelli 3 years ago 4
Wackiavelli - exactly. I thought the best question in the entire hearing was whether Sadr was positioning himself to be Ayatollah of Iraq. Maybe the USA (via Iraq) should just attack Iran to stop that. Sounds very deja vu. Oh yeah. Saddam did that in the 80s.
This is a war of attrition. It can only be "won" if we stop declaring enemies and start declaring partners, including Iran. The US albatross is that we "broke it".

EXAMPLE: Accuses McCain of wanting a 100 years war when he knows McCain said we may have to occupy Iraq like we have Korea or Germany for 100 years. Rezko, Rev. Wright, Farakan, Weather Underground, are his associates; no wonder he's never been proud of U.S.

widgetbrain, maybe your computer has a built in spellcheck, mine doesn't.

Empty suit does not begin to describe Obama!
camshaff 3 years ago
good point if it's true.
pedrinpedrito 3 years ago 4
Wrong.
Obama is the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on European Affairs, not AFGHANISTAN!!
Andrew J. Fischer, a spokesman for Republican Sen. Richard Lugar, who is a minority staff member of the Foreign Relations Committee, said something as major as NATO's role in Afghanistan would typically be held before the full Foreign Relations Committee, rather than Obama's European subcommittee.
beliha 3 years ago
to camshaff: Obama is NOT chairman of a "committee on Afghanistan" its a Subcommittee on European Affairs.

You know what, your reply clearly shows your intelligence, but hey! Not like I am having anything against it, you're 'African-American' after all.

omfg obama! I agree with 'troysr2005' Those were real questions which we all want answered. Its immposible to achieve what bush wants to achieve. Rethinking the ultimate goals of this ridiculious war would certainly bring this unnessesary killing (of innocent citezens of iraq) to an end. Good on you obama, YOU GOT BALLS.

totally stupid - kill obl & al-Zawahiri
go to the root
YragQuillo 3 years ago

I also thought Joe Biden asked the best specific questions... my 2 cents
iam4mehd 3 years ago

Zile77 3 years ago
And you know all Muslims! and all Christians! and you know Yaser Arafat was given all he asked for which was his country given back to Palestinian people. Come on man, stick to something you know more about.
Hesam0000 3 years ago
You're IGNORANT
iversongirl727 3 years ago
You have a very narrow minded biased view of things.
1. I urge you to check the facts surrounding every single agreement or meeting between Israelis and Palestinians, I assure you, in every single agreement, you will find the condition that Israel still maintains control of Palestinian roads, Check points, airspace, AND the right to build settlements on Palestinian land (Both west bank and Gaza)
By the day, the Palestinians' land shrinks, as Israel adds another new settlement to its territory
beliha 3 years ago
However, I'm not about to defend Arafat, I never particularly liked him!
However, you need to understand that every religion has extremists, and as christianity grew to become more fundamentalist during the middle ages, it was a direct result of the state of Europe during that time. It wasn't called the Dark ages for nothing. Muslims are currently living in their own version of the Dark Ages, with corruption and wars running wild, but that's not to say that they are all extremists!!
beliha 3 years ago
And a Hudna is just the Arabic word for "Truce"! Stop twisting things around!

That is why he remained at Trinity Church for 23 years.
in22525 3 years ago
Islam is not peace. Terrorists are taught to use "peace" to buy time to plan for the next round of attacks. They call it a HUDNA. An ex-terrorist has admitted this since converting to Christianity, which btw is punishible by death and required in Islam! He knows it, but knows Christ has saved him, so he is now spreading the truth and warning others about the evils of Islam.
Search for and watch all of "PROPHECY: ISLAM AND SATAN"
Really great stuff if you want to know the truth.

America is disintegrating politically, militarily and economically, according to Ahmadinejad, who boasted that Iran's nuclear achievement is a turning-point in history that will change the international order prevailing since World War II.

You missed 1 little number:
1,000,000 Iraqis, mostly civilian militia killed. That's 1/20th of the whole country and 1/4 of the able-bodied men age 15 to 60.

Obama contradicts himself.
Sept 2007

Boobalopbop 3 years ago 5
"pussy slack jawed ambassador" LMAO. perfect description. and ya u guys are so right, i feel for patraeus, but i honestly think he should just say fuck it, and tell it str8 to the american people how big of a clusterfuck bush put us in.

Obama just hit it. We can't define success. We don't know what success is there. This is not Japan, Vietnam, or Germany.
chuckcomplete212 3 years ago 4
Of course not... there isn't even an army to fight. We can't say we're at war with iraq, and once we defeat the iraqi army we can claim success. Were at a war with terror. How do you defeat terror? erase the word from the dictionary? alot of people are terrorized by spiders... cant fight a war with a word.
Boobalopbop 3 years ago 3
All I know is that Al Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) has to be severely weakened, almost to a shell of its current state, before we should entrust the newly-formed Iraqi forces with dealing with it. It is beyond irresponsible to leave Iraq with a strong or even moderately-strong AQI behind. Honestly, it would probably be faster for us to cripple AQI then to wait for the Iraqi forces to strengthen enough. Given the progress we've made so far against AQI, I'd say we're probably about 3 years away.
text97 3 years ago
text- not to mention its our moral duty to help out the iraqis who were displaced by the illegal war bush initiated. least we could do after we killed half a million CIVILIANS.
fawkesbobo 3 years ago
You CAN continue killing them, only to see them easily replaced
beliha 3 years ago 2
Agreed...its probably all got to do with religion where a Muslim mentality is more agressive and hard-lined than non-Muslim nations like Vietnam, Germany et al. Its a pity really as they (Islam world) has no one else to blame but themselves for de-grading its reputation to rest of the world.
