  • Is it possible to turn the blue POWER LED off? It kinda annoys me, especially when watching movies in a dark room. Thanks for replying.

  • @yahuui Black electriction tape ;)

  • I just bought this one, but the colors are really spotty if you know what I mean.

  • I just found out they are selling at costco until sunday for $199 with a $40 coupon of theirs. Hopefully they have some left. Love it they add a year to the manufacturers warranty and if you use amex card you get an additional year. Time to upgrade my 19in Samsung LCD as well it 4yrs old. Ciao

  • I just got 1 @ the 2009 Hong Kong Computer & Communications Festival, and it 's a steal @ HK$1990,which is about US$250 :)

This baby has a pleasant viewing angle & the 2 digital image sources can be connected without loss of quality........NICE!

  • hi there, I thinking about buying this LCD, but i have two questions on you: 1) how looks black color, is it real black color - in movies-games?

    2) what is the distance (height) between desk surface and beggining of LCD screen (in inches or centimetres) in lowest position of LCD monitor?

sry for my bad english :S :D and many thank you for your advice

  • Its a contrast ratio of 50'000:1 so its great for black and white.

2-3 inches off the desk (at its lowest) 6cm metric

  • thanks dude, i'll buy LCD this week, because I have still (about 3 years) old 19" LCD Samsung and I hope, that this will be great change for my eyes :-))

  • Hey I'd like to say thanks for making this video because I could not find any info about this monitor. I think I might actually buy it now since the price is good as well. But a few questions, How do the colors look compared to your TV? Also, can you please list the specs listed on the box suc as contrast ratio and stuff and the contrast ratio of your TV? Thanks!!!

  • Ive no longer the box. But it did go on about the 50'000:1 contrast ratio.

Compared to my 46" screen its better looking. Its obvious cause its much smaller with the same pixel resolution.

  • How's downscaling on this monitor? I know my computer isn't gonna handle playing games at 1080p for long. Would like to know how the image quality is on lower resolutions like 720p. (too blurry or acceptable?)

  • With all LCD, they have a Native resolution. So the crystals dont fit any other resoultion perfectly. Ive tried lower resolutions (1280x720) and it sucks. The image is fine, as in text is clear to read. But as the crystals are arranged to suit 1920x1080 you can tell the difference.

£100 should get you a good gfx card that could cope. Good luck.

  • Alright, thanks for the info.

  • Thank you for this, there are still very few reviews online for this one. It's helped me make up my mind. The next time I leave a YouTube comment I'll be viewing it through a Samsung 2494HM :)

  • sweet! im well happy with the monitor. Cant really fault anything much.. Only two things that are a bit annoying are:

    1. DUST MAGNET

    2. Speakers are 100% treble only.

    Same as their LCD TVs.

  • You just blew my mind!! Me too!

EVERYONE JOIN THE SAMSUNG 2494HM CLUB!!! WE TAKE APPLICANTS ON SUNDAYS AND WILL HAND OUT REFRESHMENTS.

  • lol good game

  • Could you also do a big favor and show what the widescreen looks like? I've owned a (really good actually considering the age) Flat Samsung CRT monitor for the past 5 years and I've never really experienced a wide screen monitor before. I'm curious as to how various sites and folders look in 16:9.

    Thanks again, great lil review.

  • Just bought this today (along with a fairly amazing rig) at NCIX but I have to wait a week to use it. I just can't wait. My current comp is 3 yrs old and waaaay behind the times. This is a BRAND new monitor. These videos are like the only thing I can find anywhere. No reviews up elsewhere, it's like its not even out yet!

  • Yeah, its why i did this vid. I was looking everywhere for a review or any information on this monitor. Couldnt find anything.

    Hope this helps.

  • Do you play any games on it? If so I'd love to see what they look like.

What is the rest of your system like?

  • hi. there's a program called "Nokia Monitortest". you can then set the background to white and move the camera from middle to left and right side of the screen.

  • hi thank you for the videos. can you please post some videos of the view angles? or while playing movies or games. thanks

  • What viewing angles did you mean? Ive shown the only two. Horizontal and vertical. Let me know and i'll see what i can do. I do a quick game video in the mean time.

  • "Comment removed by author" whats that about?

  • sometin like "thanks man and god bless" but i decided to ask one more time :)

    Anyway thanks man.

  • Nice HD video. Your place is a good spot to test the (2x)3watts Speakers of this monitor, see how loud and crisp it goes. Also a demonstration of its 50,000:1 contrast ratio would be nicer. tnx in advance

  • Ok buddy, i'll see what i can do.

I havent used the speakers yet, but i'll plug em in and give my two bits.

Not sure how i can show contrast ratio.. But i'll do some research.

  • Ok ive done a test on the speakers.. They really suck for bass, and middle is hard to hear. The speakers are not very powerful either. Ive a preamp that boosts signal as well as an equalizer which both seem to fail to get any extra performance out of the speakers.

As with Samsung LCD TVs the speakers are only basic as they expect the consumer to purchase a seperate purpose made speaker system.

  • However, if you dont need +100dB i guess a subwoofer could compliment the speakers. I dont recommend this though as they really are pants.

  • OK. one more thing. Have you tried connecting a device(like PS3 or DVD player) to the hdmi port AND your pc connected via DVI and Audio in? curious how speakers behave when toggling thru different Sources. The purpose is to use for PC and Baby Room Monitoring :)

  • No i havent tried the HDMI port. I havent got a device i can use on it. I can connect the monitor to the PC using HDMI but its the same experience.
