Badly -- in fact the thing is literally tuned with a hammer. Worse -- it acts as a nice concave mirror and heats up in the sun and distorts. A solution (no joke) is to throw a bucket of cold water in it.
On the subject of the sun it does act as a good concentrator of light. Timon played in a steel band at this years San Francisco Aids walk -- and his hands got sunburned.
