I HAD to post this scene. I could not get over, and still cannot believe, how many places one can hide a phone.The audio commentary on Disc 1 of Season 1 of the episode "Mr. Big" has Mel Brooks commenting about how he thought up the idea for the shoe phone and where "Would you Believe..." originated.Mel thought the shoe would be the most absurd place to find a phone. There were hundreds of scenarios that came to mind when dealing witha shoe phone.
The "Would You Believe..." came from Don!

Oh, the many phones that Get Smart showed us through the years! Everywhere from a comb to a suit or a fire hydrant! Brilliant stuff!
Yes, Don's "Would you believe..?" started in his stand up comedy days, so did his "Maxwell Smart" voice. He originally thought it would be too annoying but a friend convinced him it was too funny not to use. Good thing too... I love the voice!
