  • He went through so much... And lost it all...

  • I thought it would be an happy ending but unfortunately...

    Very very sad !!

  • such a sad movie, :c i fought tears back at the end...

  • kim ill sung , kim jong ill and kim jun onn , super fat pig fuckers , they eat until they become so fat and let others to be starved to death .they put their own peoples in the concentration camp.this is what happened when stupid fat pig runs the country

  • Most heart gripping movie I've ever seen. No Hollywood stunts, but showing one of many hardships of the people of DPRK. More people who demonize the North Korea need to see this. It's the government that's to blame, not the people. I pray that grace like rain will shower on the people of North Korea soon.

  • and dont forget, economically speaking, north koreans are uneduated and hence they can only do low-wage jobs and thus contribute little to the economy. so govts see little incentive to help them. with all due respect to north koreans, we still need to help them!!

  • people might be asking, why does the china govt not help north korean refugees?? its not just about giving money and aid and help to them! there are possible implications to that. for example by doing so this might undermine north korea's sovereignty and weaken relations btwn both countries!! worse is most governments work with limited budgets and the fact that they have their own problems means n koreans once caught get sent back.

  • I have read many comments and according to those comments I read I realized how most people dont have ill thoughts about the North Korean people themselves but the government...I am glad that people are supportive towards these people...For awhile I thought most people would just go by the progpaganda that they have been fed .....Thanks to Youtube we are able see somethings that we couldnt before and this educates us and we are able to see whats really going on....

  • I'm Thai. If they escape to Thailand, I'll help them every way. But Thailand border is so far from NK border. It's hard to escape to Thailand.

  • And to think all he wanted was to send some medicine home to his wife

  • I spent 10 years teaching English in South Korea. I taught children and grew to have relationships with many people. I cannot describe how I feel about the apathy of China and western nations to the plight of North Korean people simply because North Korea does not have oil and China, South Korea, Japan and Russia want a nice little buffer zone between themselves in addition to not wanting to be swamped with starving refugess. Such selfishness can only be described as absolute cruelty.

  • @saisonqwerty Well said.

Too bad that psychics and people who can see in the future have predicted that North Korea is going to attack South Korea and Japan in 2012. My source was Projectavalon net, and then look for psychic predictions for 2012.

    I hope they are wrong.

  • good movie. wish more people could see it so they know how good of a life they really have.

  • wow this film was heavy.@Yesica i had the same feeling. so sick this isn,t possible anymore in almost 2012 i think if the whole world wil help.then people can life free

  • :'(

  • Foundations that help North Korean people:

    Grantmontomeryblogspot com

    Trust org

    LINK global

PLEASE HELP THESE PEOPLE! Too bad I'm personally out of money, I would send something myself.

I think this movie was better than the Aviator, thus it deserves an oscar.

I don't think America should attack North Korea. But Kim's whole government must die. They are bad poeple and they hurt North Koreans. I don't know much about the situation, but I think North Koreans should join South Korea.

  • @Jmjager1 Well said!

  • And give money to people who need it if I can spare some.

  • THATS IT, I'M GOING TO HELP PEOPLE IN NEED AND SEND MONEY TO FOUNDATIONS WHO HELP NORTH KOREA!

  • Ssoooo sad i almost cryed also based on true story

  • if the world cares so much why don't they save them? I heard how America is the greatest force for good yet where are they? I heard a general say they could beat them easy. Then why let them suffer? Only time they care about North korea is when they get a new weapon.

  • @jordler US only interfere or attack a country if its worth the attack. Like if there's oil, or natural resources. Thats why they love the middle east. but you cant expect them to interfere in every single country. If they do, they would have to save even more millions of people from other countries like Myanmar or cuba. And thts unfair for them. The whole world should come tgt to save these people. And I believe one day we can.

  • Oh my friggin god. This movie was so sad. now im gonna be really sad for the rest of the day. fudge

  • What can we do to help? I have been watching a lot of these NK stories/tragedies and we cant do anything... were just like the father in these movie... no matter how much we want to help there is nothing we can do... I just hope and pray that the NK communist regime will soon meet its end... and I do hope that the people of NK will finally be re educated on what is really meant to be a human being... to be respected and be able to live with dignity...

  • The ending is a bit sentimental, but the movie is all in all a great depiction of the NK life and the plight of the refugees.

  • Studio Ghiblis "Grave of the fireflies" is by the far the most saddest war-based anime ever..

  • THIS IS SO SAD. IF I WAS PRESIDENT OF THE USA I WOULD FIND A REASON TO INVADE NORTH KOREA JUST LIKE BUSH FOUND REASON TO INVADE IRAQ. WE WOULDN'T BE FIGHTING FOR OIL. WE WOULD BE FIGHTING FOR A PEOPLE'S FREEDOM. WE WOULD ACTUALLY BE FIGHTING FOR SOMETHING WORTH FIGHTING AND DYING FOR.

  • @BigMrJuarez Agreed, except US tried to do exactly that in Vietnam, and you know what happened.

  • When can China grant these people refuge status? Common ! I am disappointed at my motherland, because as Chinese, we help others. That's a virtue that we live by. It is a shame. I hope China can change their immigration policy.

  • @BookRocky24 As a human being, that is the right and kind thing to say.

But things are not so black and white. What if China revise their immigration policy as you suggest and allow North Korean refugees into China, that will make a few North Koreans live better, but would it be fair for the Chinese natives who would loss jobs en mass to North Korean refugees who want to work for a much lower salary?

  • @Ravensteinzh they can be sent back to south korea.

  • @MrJonslife Good suggestion, but note that I was responding to a suggestion regarding "Chinese immigration policy," which similar kinds has proven to be bad for native population.

  • Let this be a lesson for all of us. Never leave your passport behind in the airport.

  • I felt horrible after watching this movie.

its not just a movie, it's reality.

    this is happening everyday there.

I felt guilty too. we so often eat and throw food away without thinking about this.

I'm trying to be more aware of what I eat and cook, or what I throw in the garbage.

    I'll pray for them.. :(

  • wow... what a great movie! sad ending tho...:(

  • sad ending :(

  • DEATH TO COMMUNIST SCUMS !!

  • I cried........does that make me less of a man? Or does it make me more of a human?

  • @ZelZarKi More of a human.

  • We need a coup d'etat in North Korea to remove the current regime.

Any1 got any plan to start this coup?

  • Одни слёзы...........

  • we should drop video cassettes of this film into north korea so all the people there can see what a dick their asshole leader is.

  • @guitarhamster102 u think they got TVs and cassette players in NK?

  • @guitarhamster102 do u think they are stupid and dont know? Theri just scared.

  • @guitarhamster102 thats provided that they have a player at home....

  • I have to say that I would have liked the child to at find his father in this movie.

I don't like cliche endings perse, but this movie is just so depressing, it would have fit the movie to see a semi happy ending.

At least see the two reunited.

Because this way, let's face it, the father loses all his friends and family, the child loses all his friends and his first love. I mean this movie is just sadness on an epic level.

  • I thought this would end Joon and Mi-sun able to cross the border and will be adopted by the father.. So sad.. T_T Too bad, for sure the NK citizens won't be able to watch this movie because their government will ban this movie to make them look good which is NOT.

  • @nicegoodspeed1 i bet the NK government has banned most movies already ..

  • I pray safety, peace, hope, happiness, smile, and all the other good things be brought to North Korea people.

  • Welp, I feel like crap.

If anybody needs me, I'll be at the corner of the internet.

  • Joon dies!?!? are you kidding me? FUCK!! that aint right man!!! joon and his little girl friend couldn't have a happy ending? this movie was way too sad... this WORLD is way too sad to let this be a reality. liberate iraq, but noth korea's malnurished army is too much to take on?

i don't see why China, can't step up and take North Korea for themselves. it can't be worse than what's going on already.

  • That was literally the saddest thing I've ever seen in my life.

  • @ZhouFantastic Me too. I saw it some time ago and felt like I'd been emotionally run over by a truck.

  • They forgot to put whitey as diner in the final credits

  • This film makes me wanna slaughter all the juche fuckers.

  • :,(

  • They would not all be dead if they would have stayed in the embracing arms of the DPRK.

  • Can someone explain to me why he brought those meds in the first place? Were they really vitamins for his son?

  • omq. I cried. omq. This so sad. How the whole family went through all this and at the end, 2 people died. This is so sad. :'( Please be grateful for the freedoms you have. God Bless the North Koreans. North Korea will be great someday.

  • No no no no noo.. Please tell me he didn't die. Oh god, this is so sad. I cried.

People, please don't take what you have for granted. North Koreans are living in hell while we have anything we want and any opportunity and ofcourse freedome.

God bless all the people of North Korea. Stay strong.

I really wish Korea was one again. How beautiful that would be.

  • tugged at the heart strings, love this film , very sad but well done.

  • Saddest movie ever. Remind me to pray for the North Koreans and may God be merciful to them and deliver them.

  • Wow, this was the saddest movie I ever saw.

  • )':

  • i think its not the way of the government that's hurting the people, but how the leader decides to handle his power. in all honesty i think north and south korea can be 2 different countries with the government they have right now. the problem is kim jong il. china is a communist state. but I am a chinese and i know how the leader treats the people and how they react. i can assure you it's not even close to north korea. bottom line, don't stereotype governments.

  • @hinikunayuki of course it's humans who are to blame. The point is that if god does exist, he's allowing people such as North Koreans to be born into quite literally an entire lifetime of suffering. He either has no power to do anything about their situation, or he does have and he doesn't use it. So to quote the author Sam Harris making the same point: "he is either impotent or evil".

  • wow, can't believe after all that they killed the wee guy - what a heartbreaker!

North Korea surely has to be the most horrific humanitarian crisis we've ever seen - it's completely obscene that a situation like this is allowed to exist in the 21st century. North Korea actually serves to reinforce my atheism - god has far too much suffering to answer for in this world...

  • why dont these things ever end happily?!?!?!?

  • I Cried...

    No happy ending :'(

  • i wonder how its like to lose ur son, wife, and bestfriend :(

  • as a japanese american i have my deepest respects to people that have to live in such horrid regimes such as kim jong ils, if any north korean refugee reads this then i am sorry for what you had to go through.

  • im in lost of words right now... i am a south korean born and living in america. let us all work together to bring down this ruler known as kim jong ill, his family, and regime. reunite korea under south rule.

  • now I shouldn't be complaining about my life. there's no need to complain anymore, because my life is nowhere near this.

  • so heartbreaking... just so heartbreaking... this movie just changed my thoughts on what my life is like compared to them. and i thought "i" was poor because of how much my family is in debt right now. I'm so thankful for everything now. this country, my parents, and just everything that I have. I'm very thankful.

  • So they just killed all of the main characters??? The mom, the boy, and the little girl??? What kind of an ending is this?!?! Why would they do that?

  • Why didn't Joon get Mi-Sun out with him? Even if she died in the desert with him, it still would have been better than starving to death in some juche re-education camp, where the guards either don't notice or don't care that you're dead.

Hopefully someday, some top army officer will wake up to the suffering of their people and do the right thing, overthrow the Kim dynasty, cast off juche to the garbage heap of history and launch a campaign of de-Kim Il Sungization.

  • @Ulysses1994XF04 did you see on one of the previous parts that mi-sun died of her back injuries with all those maggots feeding on her wound......she died before the lady with the bribe money arrived at the camp to "buy" joon out of the camp

  • @cobracurse

Wait was that dead girl her?

  • Kim Jong Il sure loves his movies. I wonder if he'll ever watch this one.

  • I wonder if kim jong il saw this movie...

  • indeed this is one of the best inspiring mo vies i ever watched! no matter who we are we are to love and care for one another. Jesus loves everyone, if someone goes and follow the exact teaching of Jesus there will be no killing instead healing, caring, loving each other. We are to love everyone but that's hard! therefore let's love someone whom we are aware of, close by, relatives and friends, neighbors.

  • @dc5555555 i am not a christian but i have to say that whenever some psycho leader tries to be G-d or achieve immortal-like status, great pain, suffering and death always ensues (hitler, stalin, mao, mussolini, pol pot, kim jong il, kim il sung, )

  • Mongolia welcomes North Koreans, the government provides air fee to South Korea. But Gobi desert is very harsh, they boy should have walked along side of the boarder and eventually would have been picked by Mongolian boarder patrols. Sad movie.

  • when the people of the world attends its Sunday Church , ringing the bells at the budhist temples or to their daily prayers to god Allah. There are thousands of childrens dieing each day in North Korea. He who has ears have heard. He who has eyes that see's and still does nothing when there is wrong doing's, hurtings around him and gives no hands to them is like an animal without conscience. He who claims to be gods childrens shall be an example of Sins

  • The close friendship between Joon and Misun was extremely touching. Two young children who had their right to a happy childhood taken away, indirectly, by a man who values the preservation of his backward regime over the lives of those who suffer for him.

What gets me the most is that the majority of deaths in North Korea are preventable, but Kim Jong Il would rather maintain his position as leader than feed his people. That just makes his crimes against humanity even more unforgivable.

  • This movie makes you apreciate every little thing in life that you take for granted. As an european i am very sad to see that this kind of countryes still exist in this world. Fuck that little fat midget KIM IL FUCK and i hope south korea will manage to unify the country.

    Support from Macedonia :/

  • now they are still having suffering in NK. How to help them ? I wanna help them.

    With love from Thailand.

  • one of the saddest film i ever watched.....brilliant...10/10

  • I have to say that I would have liked the child to at find his father in this movie.

I don't like cliche endings perse, but this movie is just so depressing, it would have fit the movie to see a semi happy ending.

At least see the two reunited.

Because this way, let's face it, the father loses all his friends and family, the child loses all his friends and his first love. I mean this movie is just sadness on an epic level.

  • nice movie.

  • everytime it rains, i think of those who are trapped and suffering in NK..

  • I think I'm gonna be depressed for weeks after watching this film. Brings tears into my eyes and pain in my heart.

  • KIM II North s korean leather is a bastard , i wish live enough to see him, hanged by the American or south korean s military .. that country should be invaded and taken over to give a better life who still there ... it is a really sad movie, heart broken ,...

  • I happened to find this movie on accident, the history of the 2 koreas facinate me. This is one of the best films I have seen, my heart really goes out to the plight of the North Koreans its very bad. Its very difficult to keep your composure. thank you for posting this excellent film

  • Is there an alternate ending to this film??? Like where he meets his wife and son and lives happily ever after

  • @pstchaseki face the truth

  • @pstchaseki

What would be the point?.. there is never a point of sugarcoating and running away from the truth..

  • For the father that lost so much, he needs to go on and tell his story so nobody else suffered as he did. Granted, he lost so much but gained so much more......freedom

  • At least for a time in your life, be thankful of what you have. Give your parents or anyone who took care of you a big hug, we should be happy we had an easy life with the people we loved, we could speak whatever we wanted without fear and we had food, education, games. What would I give to show this movie to the "sweet 16 f**ers" that curse their parents because they gave them a blue bmw instead of the black one they wanted.

  • heartbreaking....because it's true story and it's still happening there

  • really, this is like one and a half hour of pure sadness

when i watched this movie at the theaters, my friend and i cried so hard that the couple next to us were looking at us like we were freaks but i just couldn't stop the tears flowing

  • This is the saddest movie i have ever seen.

  • Sad part is I can't say "It's just a movie" and turn my head away. This is real, by the gods why can't we do something to help thise people?

  • This is the most beautiful and sad movie ive ever seen, Just sad really sad.

  • CHinese need to straighten up and start accommodating the poor defectors. fuck chinese government for being so incompetent on human rights issue. They are too busy eating up the world.

  • to all the defectors that currently on their way at this moment, please be brave and strong and you will see the light ahead very soon, may the god heard your prayers.. god bless you all.

  • @bounjune all mankind deserve to live freely peace!

  • Be interesting to know how close to the real story this is. Breaks my heart severely.

  • crap, I was not expecting this ending at all! :(

  • I once read that Kim Jong Il has approximately four BILLION dollars deposited in various locations around the world, just in case he ever has to flee North Korea. Although hopefully if that ever happens he will be caught and sent to one of his own labour camps before he can access any of it.

  • in Mongolia?

  • Wow great movie

  • This movie kills your soul

  • There is so much suffering in this world today. Unfortunately that is how things are and they most likely won't change. People each day suffer from much injustice and lack the freedom to speak out against it. North Korea is no exception. People have one life. In that life they grow up once, get an education once, love once, and die once. But along that journey, just like a road, you have bumbs, rough patches, or accidents along the way. So be thankful for what you have. Not what others have.

  • They even ate the dog.

  • If only the world stops making million or even billion-dollar worthable movies, how many lives would be saved????

  • I am sorry. I am sorry for those North Korean who are still suffered there. If there is any thing I could do to donate things to there, I will do and tell everyone I know to do.

I am sorry for my country too, my beloved Viet Nam. It used be like NK, hopefully it was better than NK. Although I am not a big fan of Communism, I am glad that at least my country is not a second NK. Communism is not logical but it is not absolutely wrong people! Clam the Leader. Kim Jung Il, cruse u!!!

  • anyone who knows the title of the song....?

  • @clemsonfrey shoes for Mi-sun I think

  • i love North Korean people, i hate there Government. let us liberate North Korea and change there dictator Government..

  • so sad i coulnt watch the ending... just skipped through it...

if there was any justice, all those brainwashing propaganda making motherfuckers should all die of the longest most painful death possible its not humane what theyre doing FUCK KIM JONG IL HES SATANS ASS BITCH AND HOPE HE DIES ASAP

  • damn sad ending. :(

  • DAMMIT! i was really hoping for a happy ending! why!?!?!

  • @jadeyes914 Because in reality this is how it happens!

  • why Obama doesnt send heavy bombers shelling Kim's palace after seeing this movie as I would certainly immediately do?BECAUSE HE AINT ANY BETTER THEN HIM!

  • @eulex10

i don't see any other leader doing anything. at least he ordered a face off recently. what are the other nations doing about NK? SK sends food to NK, but i doubt they'll keep doing that after the shooting recently.

  • id be more then happy to help a north korean escaping to another country....

  • Why don't they finish the job and show the father dying in a plane crash

  • It's been ages since I've cried during movies...

  • Single tear :.(

  • Long live our great father Kim Il-Sung. Death to the traitors.

  • @NLR884evr Kim il Sung is in hell eating Hitler's shit

  • i believe in non-violence. if i had kim jong il here i'd shoot him in his stomach let him bleed out. whoops a daisy, whoops a daisy guess i'd have to shelve the non violence just for that one time.

  • @vardor

you'd just shoot him? that's all? i was thinking of something worse.... i'd humiliate the bloody crap out of him in front of all this people, expose him for the heartless ass he is, and then hang him from his damn castle or whatever it is. i'm not even a violent person.

better yet, do the first two, then force him into the most infamous prison in the world. let the cellmates take care of the rest.

  • This happens all because of one mans insanity. Their wont be a tear shed from if Kim Jong Ill was to die of a stroke right now. I hope it happens and his bitch ass son can go to hell with him. Fuck I'm so mad right now I wish he was here so I fuck his ass up. I wanna just hit him in the head untill I see his brains. Then I would keep him alive half retarded tape his eyelids open and stomp on his sons chest untill he goes into cardiac arrest. Then I would let him starve to death.

  • @flippnbricks2o8 btw his son is 40 something and is crazy too. Just sayin.

  • As touched (I was crying at the end) as this movie makes me feel, I can't help but think, on the second hand, that perhaps there was a dubious propaganda element from the capitalist South's point of view. This could just be really good fiction.

  • @Invilidity Any capitalist rule is better than Communist shit. Even China isn't Communist any more except for the name of the ruling party. Fact is that DPRK is Hell on earth.

  • @Invilidity /watch?v=fiouWXZ3hbY

the sound quality is really bad, but it sounds like korean. the uniforms look north korean. that girl... is definitely starving. just look at her face.

we will see one day if the movie is a true depiction of whats really going on in north korea. one day soon, i hope, when north korea's government falls.

  • What??? Joon died in the end????? So sad!! He survived hunger, the beatings in the North Korean concentration camps and then that??

  • after watching this film i have many thoughts in my mind:

    1) i am very thankful to God for where i live

    2) the courage of these people amazes me

    3) this story is only a single representation of a very true reality for many North Korean defectors

    4) i will never forget these people

    5) i said it already, im so very thankful to God for where i live

    6) this movie should be shown to the north korean govt Thankyou Lord for everything we have, what these people do not have, we pray for them also.

  • all i'm thinking of is............ that sun of ***** is kim il sung i wish he would DIE of tuberculose like the mom of joon did and the sun of the sun of a ***** can go to hell as well.......... it are always sutch sad storys like these you'll easely forget cause we've never ever experienced a thing so bad as this what we call bad they call a lucky day but only think of the past or at other nations like cuba thing are going wrong there as well all so sad only cause people want power no matter...

  • Don't hate North Koreans.. But Hate those two leaders Kim Il-Sung and Kim Jung-Il and Communism.. Those background make them belief equality and Now it became Totalitarian, Arrogant and Now he will remember as worst leader in 20-21st century..

  • Don't sleep on the desert w/o tent.. Temperature changes too rapidly that it can easily kill them in some places. In this case I think his lack of Nutrition and Thirst put him to death.. Well in Christians Belief there is a eternal life after death so Hopefully those family can gather once again and live happily forever.. ppl born in North Korea deserve the 2nd Life, this is truly unfair for them..

  • wow it was a great movie even though it ended the way it did. so much sadness

  • I wish that this story have happy ending but it can not be . Because this was true story for this family. I am so sad for the people of north korea. Only i can prayer for them and worker who try to help for north korean people to except which there life in danger too.

  • Whoo! What a movie Okay, now I have to go watch Disney or something, I won't be able to function with this sitting on my mind.

  • If I ever rented a car, and had the chance to drive to Cambodia while on vacation (or living) in Thailand, if I ever met a North Korean in Cambodia, I would surely take the risk to smuggle that North Korean in the trunk of the car and drive back to Thailand. After that, I would send him/her to the South Korean embassy in Bangkok and send him/her to Seoul out of the expense of my credit card.

  • @sheltv100 you are my brother

  • @sheltv100

If i ever meet a North Korean, i would help them too because even though i am not rich. I still live a luxurious life in the US compared to the North Koreans and it is something every free person takes for granted.

  • @sheltv100 i would try to help them too, even when i have no job and no car. i should have enough money to save at least one.

  • @sheltv100 Sure you would.

  • @sheltv100 we need more people like you in this world peace!

  • @sheltv100 Wow..That's very generous of you.....I am glad we still have good people left in the world....

  • Thank you for sharing this with us.. a heart breaker..

  • I am from China, I am sorry, so sorry that the generation of my parents saved the current Kim's dynasty which leve millions of suffering to people in North Korea. What can we do now? Lord, do you see this, all of these?? Show us the way please!

  • @jl929 appeal to the government of China. that's something that everyone should be doing. Doing exactly that from Canada. Let's make a movement!

  • @yjc826 i heard recently that china would be willing to accept a reunified korea governed by seoul with a benign alliance with the usa. that means bye bye kim jong il. maybe there is hope after all.

  • @jl929 it is all China's fault for fighting the United Nations in 1951. The UN almost defeated Kim Il Sun's evil empire. Mao Ze Dong is a communist idiot
