spencer tried to sound like dallas in they're only chasing safety. its pretty easy to tell. if you listen to Define the great line and Lost in the sound of separation he sounds like himself and like how spencer sounded in his old band. "this runs through"

Dallas Taylor (The original singer) was a very depressed individual at the time of Underoath, and was having troubles with his girlfriend/future wife and his heart wasn't fully in the band, as his mind was preoccupied. So the band and Dallas both decided that it would be best for him to leave and get his priorities straight.

well I like both vocalists. but personally I'd have to say that I like Spencer better, simply because with him, his voice is more unique. he doesn't sound a lot like other screamers. and he's improved A LOT in his screaming since They're Only Chasing Safety. Dallas sounds kind of generic. He's talented as fuck, but his voice is very plain-sounding.

But I will say that their lyrics were exponentially better with Dallas. I love Innocnece Stolen, Watch Me Die, and A Message for Adrienne.

To be honest, Spencer sounds somewhat what's-to-be-expected of most screamers. That being said, I think that Spencer might have a bit more of a range in his screams. Dallas' stuff has so much emotion, y'know what I mean? The lyrics feel so much more personal. Which you mentioned.

Dallas and Spencer both have talent, i like both, but i do like Spee better. i like Spencer's story of how God saved him from his drugs addictions. also Spencer does tend to scream with the rhythem of the song, so it is a bit easier for most people to understand.
