Great Smoky Mountains: Conquering the Chimney Tops Trail

I hiked this Aug. 2 with my little sister, and we stopped about 2/3 of the way up the scramble. Some people just have a gift and flew up the sheer face no problem. Definitely the most intimidating scramble I've ever attempted!

Climbin it this weekend and looking forward to it. Although in August I'm going to Colorado and hikin some 12's, 13's, and 14ers. So this will be a nice little practice.

My wife and I climbed up via the far side once and nearly died. Think that trail is closed down now . If not, I don't recommend it !

When I climbed it was raining and real windy and I almost slipped and died

don't waste your time with this mole hill--hike to le conte--it is usually packed to the hilt also

Once you have climbed to the second peak of chimney tops then you will have conquered it. I do it all the time. Anyway, chimney tops looks like a little speck from the top of Mt. Leconte.

great video I went to gatlingberg and stayed a park vista ! IT's was sweet I hiked to the waterfall it was a really hard trail I met some people and then told me to check out the chimmys hike . It's been one of my dreams now there's no better feeling then climbing a mountain!
