Every time im looking at Gretsch vids, your face pops up. You look a little young for the ragtime type music. Still enjoying my jumbo rancher acoustic. And of course the strat and jag also. Ran my acoustic through an MXR micro chorus on clean channel with some gain and it almost sounds like a 12 stringer. Best 70 bucks i spent in awhile.
Was looking at some of your other videos. You have a very nice guitar collection. : ) I don't feel bad about the 4 I own now. Although, my wife still thinks I'm crazy. Thanks for all the wonderful videos you put out here. I am enjoying listening to them.
i did this song at a retirement home and ive never seen 90 year olds go wilder :P but i have to thank u for helping me and my playing hope u keep it up
You are wonderful on both songs. Great!! What talent!!! Enjoyed very much. Thanks for sharing. Gwen P.S. I haven't visited your channel in a little bit, will definitely be back soon.
you never fail to impress me. your better than me by far. Sammy masters did a sort of rockabilly cover of red wing. i think he called it "rockin red wing" thoug. anyways, you might like it haha. once again, reat job and dont ever stop pickin that gretsch
In 1954 I bought Chet Gretsch, and worked on MR Sandman for a long time. Getting the rhythm and finding all those (unknown chords) was a major undertaking. At that time there was no one to watch, only the record, where you lifted the arm and put it back to try again.
I stumbled accross your videos by accident and I must say that both my ears and soul are warmed by your beautiful executuion of Chet Atkin's masterpieces. I have been looking into learning to play Chet for quite a while now and I was wondering if you had any recommendations in reguards to books or lessons. Thank you for making my day. Keep on doing what you do!
If you're every in the heartland, contact the Indy Guitar Society. We'd love to have you (and your family) as our guests. You'll have to play for your supper, but we'll treat you like royalty if you show up!! (I was going to say, "treat you like the Kennedys"' but that family doesn't have very good luck.) You're are great picker, and you'll just get better (if you practice). And do your homework!!
Considering your young age this is very nice picking! I know how much it takes to get that far! Keep on practising. I have been playing for over 40 years and always been a Chet fan. Feels good to see young people go back to the roots. My favorite player at this time is Martin Tallstrom from Sweden. Check him out! I am sure you will be as amazed as I have been and will enjoy his renditions. Search for "Pinofluvius" on youtube. Greets from Germany.
You're fantastic! It's great to know there's hope for the musicianship of the music world. Wish you all the best and hope that you'll branch out to all types of guitar styles, because I'm quite sure that whatever you'll do, you'll be great at it!
Wow! I grew up listening to Chet Atkins, he was my first guitar idol and a Gretsch Country Gentleman was my first good guitar. It's so great to see and hear this beautiful young girl playing this music so well. Keep it up Gretsch'n!
I'm a great fan of chet but I have 63 Years, but you have only 13 Years, incredible. I made the back for Mr Sandman and Winter Wonderland same of the original. If you want it , tell me:ChecK my Video Write: R.Maheux
thanks for the reply, so you learned by watching clips, that's very good. i was asking because of the "recitals" you posted, is that something your family set up to show your gift? just curious, hope you don't mind me askin' and keep on pickin' gretsch'n!
You are awesome to watch. It's great to see young people interested in this style of music. That is some beautiful country in the background. Don't ever stop playing, you have a great musical future ahead of you.
Both great numbers! I used do watch your videos for learning a little bit of Chet's songs. I've been doing fingerstyle about half year and I guess sometimes Its two hard take by ear or something just by yourself. Very nice!
Your video proves that "practice, practice, practice" is not a good advice if you don't have talents. I have played guitar since 1975, but I do not believe that I can ever reach your level...
I'm really impressed with your playing. I've been playing finger style for some 35 plus years, and only recently have gotten into Chet Atkins. Do you get to attend any of the Chet Atkins Appreciation Society meetings? Keep up the good work.
You play Mr Sandman better than I did when it came out about 1955, and I had one of the first Chet Atkins Gretsch guitars out. It was the small one with the leather around the body.
You and Bryan Browne (14) and you (13) would make a real dangerous team and everybody else would quit....My favorite man/wife team was Joe and Rose Lee Maphis.
you realy do play lovely, its a joy to hear you. did you get to meet chet? mike and i got to spend some time with him and had a real good pick and played for him at his 70th birthday. he was a lovely guy and i think we all miss him. take care. chris
Thank you Chris, I didn't get to meet Chet. When I discovered his videos on Youtube he had already been gone 6-7 years. I have only been playing his style for about 1 year now. He is my hero! I have all kinds of books and magazines with his stories and tabs. This is how I get to know who he was.
Vox makes great amps! I do have a Vox Valvetronix AD30. Its a solid state amp with Digital sound and it also includes a Tube preamp with various channels and amp modules. I always keep it on the clean channel which is quite impressive for Figerstyle guitar players like you and me. Its affordable, but if you prefer a real tube amp, it will cost more. I encourage you to research the internet or check your local music store. I hope thats good advice for you.
Right now I have a small Rogue amp that I use a pod with to enhance the sound. The amp isn't real great so I am looking for a new one. I might be getting a vox tube amp soon if the price is right.
You era just amazing... I cannot find the words to express how I feel about your playing in this age. Just keep it up, and you'll will be a world sensation (pretty soon)
By the way, I'm learning this song as well! Its hard for me, and you seem to make it look easy. Perhaps I'll post my version as soon as I get a video camera hooked up to my computer. I'll try it on my Rickenbacker 12 string guitar. What do you recomend as far as getting tabs for this Chet Atkins version?
My Lord, I have been playing these songs for 30 years and you play better than me. Keep it up.....Aint it fun. Makes me sorry I sold my Gretsch Country Gentelman. Thinking of buying a G5120
How many Gretsch guitars do you own? Could you list the kind of model guitars you have? I'm thinking of buying one. George Harrison played those guitars during the early days of The Beatles. That was Chet Atkins influence on The Beatles.
Hi! I own two Gretsch guitars. they are great guitars! I highly recommend the the green guitar I am playing which is the Gretsch Country Club G6196 it plays as good or better than a Chet Atkins Country Gentlemen. Its a bit of money, but its great! The other one is a G5120 orange Gretsch and is a lot less money but, does not sound as good as the higher end Gretsch`s.
Thanks for the reply! I would love to own the Country Club G6196 but its way out of my price range. I might have to settle for a Electromatic G5120 hollow body double cutaway. I already paid $2K for a Rickenbacker 360-12 string. I do admire Chet Atkins for his finger style picking on the guitar, but my main influence for me are The Beatles.
I know, the G196 was out of my price range too. I was lucky to find one used on e-bay for a better price. But . . . still expensive and I have to work it off by mowing lawns and taking care of horses for a whole year!
I can tell you that I also own an Epiphone Casino, Epiphone Les Paul model, and a Hofner Violin Bass,2 Ovation Guitars, one 6 string and another 12 string, and a Nylon string Spanish guitar. The most expensive as I said before is my Rickenbacker 360-12 string.

Oh my Gosh! I think I'm in Love! I spent two entire months memorizing the chord structure of this particular song. But, I NEVER was able to play it!
I NEVER could figure out the appropriate "Finger picking" arrangement.
I was really disheartened about that episode. I REALLY devoted myself to
TWO ENTIRE MONTHS on just this piece to NO avail. Great Job! I wish I
was as good.

I've never seen any lady fingerpick much less play chet atkins. You did a superb job. I'm planning to get a 6136; I can't wait to get it.
