  • classic, simple rock. you cant beat it

  • i was introduced to this song during the early 70s from the dustpipe lp by a good friend...rip TONY, B .

  • This is a great English/London stoner anthem from the early 70s - I loves it!! The Quo are a great band - I loves them!! As far as I'm concerned they're up there with the other great London bands like The Who, Sex Pistols etc..

  • 4 of em fell out the chair...........

  • pretty stoned boys !!!

  • wish QUO would do one more C.D. sounding more like THIS !!,back to really good sounding QUO went way to soft rock in the 80's onwards I.M.O.

  • Pity they never caught on in the USA....they would have made enough coin to have retired 20 years ago. On second thought...tour and be jammed.

  • @Pighood, as a rock music fan from the USA I can understand why this band ever made it big over here. There's nothing about their music to get excited about. Even Grand Funk Railroad was better than these guys.

  • @spahnranch69 Nah, Americans are just plain stupid. Oh, I forgot - ignorant fatto's too...

  • @ChoppaWhoppa1, I can't disagree with you when you say that Americans are stupid, ignorant fatsos. Status Quo is OK, but they were overshadowed by much bigger talent....Led Zeppelin, Alice Cooper, David Bowie, Jethro Tull, Edgar Winter, etc....You wouldn't deny that, surely?

  • @spahnranch69 I'm sure you understand my comment was tongue in cheek, but nevertheless - no, I don't agree with you. I think Quo sweepes the floor with Alice Cooper, Jethro Tull and Edgar Winter. If you only had said Johnny Winter, then I'd agreeed with you. I can't really comment on David Bowie as he's an artist I haven't listened much to.

  • wen they were gud'

  • First live band i ever saw was Quo 1977 blackpool opera house, just replaced Quo live on Cd,tBackwater, 45 hundred times+in my chair best Quo ever.

  • Cooooooooooooool or what!

  • first saw the Quo in B'ham in 1980, seen em several times since, cant wait for the next gig at Shrewsbury quarry in July 2011, 30 plus yrs of the Quo, still rockin.

  • this is the first track i ever heard from status quo fourty years ago and its still the best track i know of theres

  • Legends! Parfitt looks 'bout 10 lol

  • The dumbest thing I ever did was sell Ma Kelly's and Two Head LP's back in the 70's. Might hafta try ebay to restock my Quo collection!!

  • Guid stuff. Ah huv this on a RED record.

  • So nice.

  • This is definitely in the top 5 most awesome quo vids ever! I didn't even know this track was this old, this vid must be circa 1970, f ing awesome!

  • Truly endorsed. a gem this clipping. Is there anymore? Quo fan Ngaruawahia

  • Great blues rocker which is sadly not remembered much today.

  • So So good....... Half open rules.

  • This is awesome. Thanks very much for posting it. I just happened across it by the luck of the draw and how good is it !

Pity they didn't keep this raw guitar sound going...just about the best thing I have heard of theirs.

  • "This is a song that helped us get us where we possibly are" Rossi Live '76. It's just beautiful.

  • This song was the first I hear from status quo, it was in 1978 I was 13 years old living in mexico, well the point it's that I have had the privileged to see Status Quo in Los Angeles, California in 1996. my dream came true to ge to see this england group very famous in Mexico city and like the song said around the world, lol. Vientos huracanados por este gran video en sus inicios

  • Good old quo.

  • You know what ?I quite like this dippydoo tune

  • looks like kurt cobian!

  • Francis sings "My eyes were half open...." and indeed....throughout the whole song he seems to having trouble keeping his eyes open at all....seems to be far out....stoooooooooned

  • Don't know why this band never made it big in America when other british boogie acts like Foghat did.

Too British, where Foghat sounded like an American band

  • Fantastic song and feel by the band before they went commercial. Any Quo fans know which album this originated from? Can only see it on compilations.

  • It was originally a single only but it's now included on the Ma Kelly's Greasy Spoon album as a bonus track.

  • ma kelly's greasy spoon is the one your looking for.

  • the genial thing of this song is, that you can play it on the guitar while you lie in an armchair =)

  • How hurtful. What would Phil and Peggy Mitchell have to say about this?

  • I saw Quo at Liverpool Empire in the early 70s and they were brilliant. What the fuck is the matter with human beings that they feel the need to anaylise such simple fun like music.Go to a gig ,let yourself go and then go back to reallity and worry,if thats your wont, and carry on.

  • Awsome song,I hate blues but Quo take it to an interesting level,Rossi is a great guitarist !

  • Kurt comes to mind,

  • am man in a helmet said whats taht ya using!! HA amazin luv this song... any1 explain to me wots its about???? please

  • A man in a hemit was a British Policeman, asking whats that your using!

  • ahh oh yeah corz!!! i get it nice one lol been doin me head in 4 ages

  • hey thankks so much for this!!! havent heard this for about 38 years!!!!! brilliant !!!!

  • You are a complete tosser!

  • Am I not entitled to my opinon? Even Nick Cotton would agree with what I have said

  • This was made at a time (71) when groups weren't manufactured, most rock bands wrote their own music. The privilege of being there and seeing groups like Quo, Nazarath, Free / Bad Company, Thin Lizzy, Deep Purple etc... to name but a few, perform at their best in the 70's as young men you woundn't have such a narrow view point. However my comment was not necessary and apologies for any offence and if you get the chance see some of these now old men perform and perhaps your view may change!

  • Isn't it sad that people's comments disappear when others disagree? So much for freedom of speech

  • I'd hafta insist: Sorrowfully today's world doesn't deserve this jewel.

  • They got eyes like piss holes in the snow. Must havew been a good smoke

  • Status Quo best band ever still rockin now !

  • brings back great memories !

    Thanks

  • Kids, that's what happens if you live on a diet of chips, cheap beer and dope: you might accidentally end up making a pretty good record.

  • bad boy song

  • Shitty crappy sick world of today DOESN'T deserve this marvel in any way!

  • QUO nuff said great

  • Great stuff, People too easily forget their simple early music was so good. It was 'something bout you baby i like' that burst the bubble for me. That was not very good to say the least. This is great

  • Quo in their early years.... so very awesome!!! Thanks, quoeffinmad, for postin' this classic!!!!

  • The almighty Status Quo....just can`t get enough of them, I love you Quo, keep on rocking xxxxxxxxxxx

  • Would have been nice to hear the full song !!

  • when was that ?!

  • When I first heard this song I thought it had a sort of Kurt Cobain vocal sound to it. After seeing the video its spooky because Francis Rossi looks like a 1970's version of the grunge master.

Great band, great song, thanks for the post

  • jeez dude! me and the wife said the same thing! Rossi Cobain!

  • Looks nothing like him or sounds like him!

  • Well actually I can see the likeness.

  • When he (Rossi) first starts singing you can see it. If you watch Nirvana's MTV Unplugged you can see what I was refering too.

  • yep you're right

    got something of 'im hehehe

only he wasn't as depressed as mr cobain was...

  • Thats awesome stuff! Great song and classic footage.

  • The classic line up indeed. Ffing brilliant.

    Period.

  • Great blues........

  • The classic Quo line up..

  • I've loved this song ever since it came out. It was a staple of our bands setlist in the early-mid 70s. Come to think of it, most of our setlist was Quo. Hey we were 17 and loved to be LOUD.

  • just about what I feel about this one.

    Age is similar too ...

  • Yeah, great ole raw stuff from quo about the use of 'certain substances' and Brown Ale* (*John C!) Frank looks suitably and genuinly stoned in this vid. Wish i knew were to get an original copy.

  • who needs to search for the fourth chord.

    fantastic.

  • the thing with the 4th chord is that this song uses 6 chords...

  • real class!!!

  • chugs along beautifully

  • Poor mans canned heat as they were known as. Luv the early stuff, still listen to "dog of two head" album. Saw them live in New York city a few years ago, small crowd (they never cracked America) Still one of the best live bands I've ever seen.

  • one of their best albums is that one pal, can't beat the early stuff.

  • Poor mans Canned Heat my ass! Canned heat were bad, sloppy musicians period. Check out their Woodstock performance to see what I mean. These guys never made it in the states but were far better musicians and performers.

  • Love this song! Canned Heat style.

  • Blues, Quo Rock!

    Love the song

  • didn't know this song... not bad!

  • Francis Rossi was just DIVINE looking

  • A ye! Sounds so good! Hands together for SQ!!!

  • anyone seen the 94 gig alan lancaster+j.coughlan on quodimencia. wish they could get back together without that dummy rhino.

  • yep Rhino spat water at the crowd in norwich, uea! he is a nob, pissed my wife off, and i was embarresed.coz i made her come too the gig.

  • A true classic, John Coghlan full of 'motivation' as usual ! Great song !

  • I don't think Francis Rossi had drilled the hole through his Telecaster at this stage had he???

  • give it a rest guys this is one of the coolest tracks ever chill out

  • love the bass

  • rock classic! This bad just dont get the respect they deserve-Legends!

  • wicked song with a good blues/rock vibe

  • Absolutely brilliant - cheers!

  • Quo was the first band I saw live (1978). Have not heard this song for ages (and never seen the video)- thanks

  • awsome stuff this is! real quality Quo....

  • why did it all go wrong eh? they were great.

  • They went commercial mate sadly.Think mate? In the army now !!!!!! IS THAT Quo I think not.

  • you are sadly rite mate. wat a shame. still love it though!

  • The rot set in as far back as Rocking All Over The World. But it was Margherita Time that really killed them for me. Still love this stuff, though. Everything up to Blue For You rocks!

  • im sorry to say you are rite mate, i dide see them last year and they really held it together well, and were really good! sum later tracks were ok red sky i

liked, lol about the hole in Rossis tele, snotmale, he painted it green on his kitchen table!!

  • brillant stuff

  • great song nice and heavy

  • What a gem, quo at their raw best.

  • Glad to see the real Quo, with the bad lads still ( too bad to be in Quo! Must have been psychotic plus. )On the Level onwards and they lost it.

  • wish their music could have stayed in this style -lost interest after on the level

  • Awesome! One of my favourite Quo songs

  • Man, oh, man! Whoever in da fucking world you are, oh man! I haven't words to spell "thank you". In the middle of half a million of videocraps, I found this 24 k jewel here. Thanks!

  • Glad you enjoyed it mate - Quality like this deserves to be readily available!

  • me 2 duder so cool
