This unit is now owned by a private individual, I think it is one of the collection owned by a DC firefighter. Note that it has a MD Historic tag, rather than the FD tag on it.
Nice video. Remember the white Seagraves thay had in the late 70s or did they just have them refurbished and repainted? Main thing I remember is the extremly loud Jake brake that it had.
@brucebaj1964 they were repainted...Silver Hill VFD had purchased 2 of these open cab seagraves in the late 60's...they were replaced with a 1984 mack and a 1990 Pierce...
Nice video. Remember the White Seagraves they had prior to this one or did they just repaint it. In the late 70s early 80s most fire depts didnt have red trucks in Maryland and DC
@brucebaj1964 Some FD's have equipment from the 80's (most of them are for sale and are placed on reserve) and some even have new engines that are in white with a red stripe. There is nothing like having jakes banned in residential areas and hearing a fire truck at 3 am Jaking down my road. Sounds muffled nowadays, even though I wasnt around for the older trucks I have fond memories from when I was a child of old Seagrave Rescue Units from the 70's with loud jakes.(I was born in 95)
@MrFWDSeagrave Thanks for the comment. I love this sound, and unfortunately not much info about this rig is online. I was out west a few years ago on vacation and saw a Seagrave similar to this that had a 71 series in it. I cant remember the exact sound or the model of the Seagrave. It's quite possible that it is a 71 series considering other -71 videos.
he is an anne arundel firefighter the fd tag is at the fire house they were white then red when both seagraves went to rehab and 8v92
