I work at Dover AFB and it is one of my jobs- the main mission here- to return these heroes with the utmost dignity honor and respect. We provide a police escort for them. I have taken part in many, and every single time I get chills and tears come to my eyes. It's very heartfelt, especially when I think of this song while the ceremony is taking place.

My wife, daughter and myself were driving past Dover AFB and I told my daughter I hope we see one of the big planes landing. We did, and my 2 year old got really excited. I heard this song on WXPN about 10 minutes later. I feel like an ASS, but the song is a great reminder and a good kick in the ASS.

i am a resident of dover for a very long time and when ever i hear the plains over head i always say a prayer and ask god to bless the family of those who are being brough home and help them with there pain. i have 3 nephews in the milatary and i pray everyday that they do not come home aboard on of them

It would please me to know the big airplanes were landing empty, but until that happens we need to honor those fallen brothers and sisters and pray that the precious cargo and pray for the loved ones they leave behind. I disagree with you on the policy of pictures. It was misreported. The pentagon is right to let each soldier receive proper honor with their families and not have their bodies and caskets be part of a media circus.

Question for all who've commented they work/have ties to DAFB.....it seems that there are very few news reports of deaths of US service people in recent months....hopefully, that is accurate, but I'm wondering....have the media just stopped reporting them?

Don't get me wrong. Our heros are still lossing there lives over there. The number of deaths have gone down in past few months but the news is so twisted and one sided that they don't want to report it. It's pretty sick in my opinion that they want to get there ratings off of the deaths of our men and women serving over seas. Really opens you r eyes doesn't it!

Love this song! I too work at Dover AFB on these C5s. Ive been over to the desert and loaded the precious cargo you sing of onto our C5s. It makes you cry every time you see a plane come in full of these "Angels", as we call them. Thank you for honoring our fallen and I pray others will too!

Thanks so much for an awesome song. I also live near the dover air force base. My son loves looking up in the sky to see the big C-5 airplanes fly over our home. I live 3 miles from the base - C5s take off every day at 4pm, and land every night at 8pm. They fly over my house.
