omg i met him 2dai n my skool n he played all dese songs n den he played a funni ass song once every1 left my teacher let me talk 2 him n he waz realli nice i got his autograph on a picture of him n willie nelson he's really gud haha i met him !
I work at Dover AFB and it is one of my jobs- the main mission here- to return these heroes with the utmost dignity honor and respect. We provide a police escort for them. I have taken part in many, and every single time I get chills and tears come to my eyes. It's very heartfelt, especially when I think of this song while the ceremony is taking place.
My wife, daughter and myself were driving past Dover AFB and I told my daughter I hope we see one of the big planes landing. We did, and my 2 year old got really excited. I heard this song on WXPN about 10 minutes later. I feel like an ASS, but the song is a great reminder and a good kick in the ASS.
What a powerful song from someone with a strong social conscience and sense of humanity! I have had the good fortune to hear John perform this song live, and I highly recommend the experience.
What an amazing song. There's songs that grab you by the throat and wrestle you to the ground and throw you two for three -- this one made me take out the whisk broom.
Thank you, John. Needs to be required listening for every legislator and stupid functionary who forget that they deal in human lives, not names on a list.
This is the users mother. I was at the dentist today in Dover and heard this song for the first time on the radio. I really like this song. Thanks for playing it for us.
i am a resident of dover for a very long time and when ever i hear the plains over head i always say a prayer and ask god to bless the family of those who are being brough home and help them with there pain. i have 3 nephews in the milatary and i pray everyday that they do not come home aboard on of them
Wow. This song is amazing. We're stationed in Dover. I hear the rumble of c-5's all the time. God Bless for putting feelings of just about everyone I know into such amazing lyrics. Thank You. I wish I heard it more often. 92.9 The River hear in Dover does a great job...All stations should follow suit.
my fiance' is a marine who had to take the caskets off of the plane and back to DC for the ceremony this song really tells the story that is sometimes forgotten about and i'm proud to say i'm from delaware n marrying one of the few proud men!
this songs means a lot to us people in delaware it shows that we are a state and we can do things that is unexpect and that we can fight like anyone else in the united states but the only station i have heard it play on 947 wdsd
God Bless all those who service in any branch and teh song is wonderful. It needs to be played more so that no one ever forgets our fallen heros. It would please me to know the big airplanes were landing empty, but until that happens we need to honor those fallen brothers and sisters and pray that the precious cargo and pray for the loved ones they leave behind. We need to pray for the living and hope they all come home alive and save. God Bless you all and God Bless America.
I hate Country music...but I heard this song on WXPN and it touched me and brought a tear to my eye. My son is serving in the US Army. He is still in training stateside.
"It would please me to know the big airplanes were landing empty" If its any comfort if you came to the flightline you would be pleased for the most part, lots of cargo, cant say much OPSEC
I heard this song on the local country station while I was working on Dover AFB recently. It is a strong message that needs to be heard. These young men and women need to be recognized and remembered.
My Friend told me about this song and it touched me when I heard it. My son just joined the USAF and I am very proud of him and all men and women of all military branches. Thank you & God Bless you all.
I disagree with you on the policy of pictures. It was misreported. The pentagon is right to let each soldier receive proper honor with their families and not have their bodies and caskets be part of a media circus.
As for your song and sentiment, Keep up the good work. May God bless the American Serviceperson.
Question for all who've commented they work/have ties to DAFB.....it seems that there are very few news reports of deaths of US service people in recent months....hopefully, that is accurate, but I'm wondering....have the media just stopped reporting them?
Don't get me wrong. Our heros are still lossing there lives over there. The number of deaths have gone down in past few months but the news is so twisted and one sided that they don't want to report it. It's pretty sick in my opinion that they want to get there ratings off of the deaths of our men and women serving over seas. Really opens you r eyes doesn't it!
It's hard to say exactly what I want to here. But I have a close connection with this song, similar to many who've posted here. This is a beautiful song.
Love this song! I too work at Dover AFB on these C5s. Ive been over to the desert and loaded the precious cargo you sing of onto our C5s. It makes you cry every time you see a plane come in full of these "Angels", as we call them. Thank you for honoring our fallen and I pray others will too!
I head this song for the first time today. I am a member of the Dover Air Force Base Honor Guard and i have been telling everyone about this song. Hearing it brings a tear to my eye.
Thanks so much for an awesome song. I also live near the dover air force base. My son loves looking up in the sky to see the big C-5 airplanes fly over our home. Next time we see one I will be sure to let him know that a hero is flying home. Thanks for an awesome song! Glad to hear that it is getting lots of air time in our area. The local radio station was saying how they are getting an overwhelming amount of requests for this song!
He is the most under rated singer songwriter out there. He has great songs but doesn't get the airplay he deserves. Dover is awesome as is I Will Not Fear.
John Thank you for this powerfull song.I live near Dover Delaware. I often wonder how many C5 coming home with our military to be layed to rest. Our American heros.Welcome home.
Very well done

Amazing! Incredibly powerful, as are so many of John's songs. It's a crime that every radio station in America doesn't play songs like this!
