believe it or not the thing that makes the lights flash on and off are METAL HAIRPINS that are put torether in a pattern in a cylindrical shaped thng called a ROTOR... so lights only turn if the electric current meets with the hairpin, these lanterns go as high as a 2 or 3 storey building.Kapampangans are doing this for decades already and different groups or barangays compete for the year's title... no computers... pure genius...

no, but a few people from the Philippines bring their Christmas lanterns over. I think they sometimes sell the lanterns there. I am from San Fernando, Pampanga where most of these lanterns are made. :D
