I say, abolish health insurance and tax people. Even if we are taxed we will pay less than we do for health insurance. Put those companies out of business. Why pay 100.00- 500.00 a month for insurance when you are not even sick every month and your prescriptions are not covered in the equation?

brotherturtle: I lived in Sweden where they have a mixed economy and socialized health care. I NEVER waited months or years. I walked in and waited 15-20 minutes for a doctor. My bill with prescription was no more than 10.00.

I was given a paid taxy home. I was admitted for an emergency as well. You tell me, have you EVER experienced that here in the USA? Woudn't you like to? I sure wish I could go back but I cannot even afford a plane ticket.

It was as good as mine, if not better. My partners Grandmother had excellent care. We visited her frequently in the home she stayed, which was posh. His other granny had polio and was also well cared for.

There has housing for handicapped people and schools for them as well. The healthcare for chronically ill is always increased with the hope that handicapped and elderly can live as comfortably as possible in their homes.

They have public transportation for people in wheel chairs as well.

I would also like to add, if you have a chronic illness in Sweden, you wait no more than three days to see someone. Emergency's are always seen right away, meaning as soon as you walk in the doors or call.

Under the American system...I waited 8 hours in agony (gull stones) one day. No lie. Then they botched the surgery. I refuse to pay what they botched. If it was cheaper, maybe.

Additionally, in Sweden the doctors listened. I was not being talked "at". I did have choices.
