@Hiei2k7 Frequent and long periods of ringing took their toll on the old, analog/mechanical bell. This new bell will last longer and will require no lubrication. Digital/electronic bells last longer than analog/mechanical bells because they have no moving parts. This upgrade was needed for a long time.
See, when you grew up in Northwestern illinois in the next county over from Rochelle and you're used to rural crossings with no lights/gates or in some cases old bells that just sound....right....These electronic gizmos just aren't right.
Actually those are the exact reasons why they were replaced. Like I said before my dad helped put every one of those up and i got the information from him. Electricode is goin up this summer these signals were getting older and out of date. The railroad is just gettin with the times and installing newer and more affective technologies. Its common sense.
My dad put those signals in. They are runnin on the old signal system but within the next week they should be running on the new. I believe they replaced all the crossing signals in Rochelle.
yea i was there when they were replacing those signals. it sucked cause i had 2 go around and cross over the up tracks instead of bnsf. but we caught like 9 or 10 trains in like 2 or 3 hours so that is pretty good
yea it was a good day. i really didnt care about the signals it was just a waste of money 2 get new signals and then put them in. i woulda just stayed with the old 1s
"waste of money"...yeah you obviously dont understand the railroad. They try not to live by the phrase "if it aint broke dont fix it". The reality is those signals were getting old and with the new electricode system goin in it was time for new signals.
or yeah. im thinkin the were done in 07. but yeah. why do u care so much? im positive i was there. the BNSF's actually went slow through there. if u know that they were done in May, then why are u asking me?

Nice video, that's my favorite kind of electronic bell (the Safetran Type 3)! Good power, too!
nsgevo89 3 years ago

BNSF2184 3 years ago
OMFG those ppl r lucky. their house is 50 feet from a crossing NOT FAIR
PossessedDonutz 3 years ago
my god... it's been done. and the BNSF electronics sound worse than the UP electronics down the street.
Guess I'll have to go to my vids from March 07 to hear that ol sweet clanger one more time.
Hiei2k7 3 years ago 2
lol yeah, but they could be worse i guess

@ic6071 I love seeing the old SD40-2s as well. I also really like the BN Executive SD70 MACs and SD 60Ms.

It's called, can't a guy be curious? I want the exact date because I want to know when I should've started hating BNSF.
TommyBNSF 3 years ago
