@01carlyn Go to "My computer">Advanced system settings>Advanced Tab>Performance settings>Advanced then increase your virtual memory. That process may not be exactly right, just have a look around in there till you find it.

@MrFavorite01 Computer hardware should be a lot cheaper in my opinion and the operating system should be the thing that makes up the majority of the price. Also, if you are the industry standard of something, you usually have higher prices than everyone else. Photoshop can have their price higher than other image editors; parker can charge higher prices for their pens; rolex chargse higher for their watches etc.

Sorry for these random thoughts, its difficult to explain how value works.

@chrisybwell Ah, true about that standards stuff. Photoshop is the most used, so they can do what they want. I do agree with you on the pricing as well, but we all know why they're expensive. Our earth is running out of resources, and knowing that, we can make unlimited software but only limited hardware. To be honest, the Windows OS should be more expensive, but it's known all over the world and is basically used on all cpu's, so Bill Gates got rich off of just that fact anyway. (continued)

@chrisybwell It does also depend on your skills as a programmer as well I guess. I know that was a horrible comparison, sorry bout that. Alright, lets say a computer then. You can build a very functional computer using only about $600 (from scratch) that has tons of capabilities than an art program. Why did you get much more from using less? And yes, there are people who make computers with less than $1000 that work much better than the ones we normally have.

The operating system (eg. windows) is more important than any of the hardware. It allows you to run all these programs like Photoshop, but it in itself, provides little/no functionality other than a way to use your computer.

Do you know how hard it is to make these programs? I was curious because I see full-on intense video games with a lot of textures and really great graphics along side with real life choreograph and all these expensive equipment being used just to make a game and yet, games are 25 times cheaper than Photoshop. (Minus the factor of amount of persons buying the said products)

@MrFavorite01 Photoshop would be an awful lot harder to make than a game. They cannot be really compared together though...which do you think is more expensive, a clothing manufacturing factory or a dress they produce? Photoshop is not a game, you may have to spend hours every day on it for your job. Games today, however, can be completed in about 6 hours.

Photoshop is very expensive but its partially because of it that games are cheaper. Thus it should cost more.

The other edition is Photoshop CS4 Standard Edition.

You can use Google Sketchup to make 3D models for use in Photoshop CS4 Extended - just remember to export them as .kml files (..or is it .kmz?)

@fhunkydelix What color mode are you in? RGB should work fine. Did you check if your video card was supported by Photoshop CS4 Extended before purchasing this program? If not check. If it is supported then make sure that the video card has the latest driver update installed.

You can check which version it is in the Help>About Photoshop menu. 3D is exclusive to CS3/CS4 extended editions.

Start a new document, go to the 3D menu up at the top, then new shape from layer and select pyramid =D

Down in the bottom right hand corner you should see the 3D layer (it should be the only one there). You should seem stuff like bottom_material etc, double click each one of these to colour each face of the pyramid seperately. Of course you can just paint on the 3D object if you want by using all of regular 2D tools just the same as you would when doing 2D work. =D
