Do you work for the airline? I doubt if the pilots let civilians in. Come back and see us. Spend your money in Vegas. Right by lake mead we have GoldStrike Hot Springs and Arizona Hot Springs. We also have fortification hill for great hiking.
PSA airlines and Southwest are two different airlines folks. And PSA is no longer flying. Don't get your facts confused... Titles are close, but not the same airline. And your right about one thing. Southwest only flies 737s.
@ats90mph The L1011s weren't very profitable aircraft for PSA, Which is why they only had them for 2 years I think. They realized that the L1011s weren't really suitable for commuter flights that were an hour or less in duration coupled with quick turnaround times, However, One of PSA's L1011s did go on an around the world flight, But that was for promotional purposes I think.
@Dmiteii443 Hell Yeah Baby!!! You got THAT right!!! NONE of today's planes could EVER top the Tristar in terms of looks, sound, reliability, roominess, comfort, maintenance & simplicity of operation.
@ROADIE37 Simple. They use an instrument called the attitude indicator. As long as they don't exceed a certain degree of pitch, they won't scrape the tail.
Very nice, but I'm curious....when was this filmed? I'm guessing between 1993 and 1996 (that explains why Lake Mead was so full of water). I see the Luxor pyramid (built in 1993) but this shows the old Hacienda just south of that - it was torn down in 1996 and replaced by the Mandalay Bay in 1999, with THEhotel at Mandalay added just west of it in 2003.
And in the Middle east somewhere (Saudi Arabia?) there is an L-1011 on permanent display/ storage out in the elements. However, the bird still looks graceful with elemental-weathering.
@solomonpilot767 The L-1011 was not a cheap plane when its production ended. Lockheed went to far...and with only one engine choice....that was a no-brainer for failure in a fickle market. They were fun to fly as a passenger. If the plane had a bigger wing for range...or just been engineered to have two engines for a later date...it wud have stayed around. But it was produced in the toyota scheme of " we will make it the way we want to..you buy it!"
@505stealth thanks 4 the info and,if i had money ,i would buy it but, some country they still operate that queen, such saudia they use it 4 royal family!
@lvkeith83 Royal Airlines. The airline was acquired in 2001 by Canada 3000, which in turn went bankrupt in the months following the events of September 11."

yesrpo 2 months ago
@yesrpo they did do 727s for a while, but mostly 737s, no widebodies.
Fabo0315 1 month ago
@Fabo0315 and i believe they are getting 727s again with the purchase of airtran right?
yesrpo 1 month ago
@yesrpo No, but airTran does have some 717s and I dont think those will be gone by the time they merge operations.
Fabo0315 1 month ago
@Fabo0315 yes 717s, sorry, i knew it was one of the two

@ROADIE37 I was wondering the exact same thing!!! Must be some kind of special aeronautical magic trick we don't know about!!!
ford9572 6 months ago
@ford9572 Ground effect helps. And L1011s Direct Lift Control helps too I believe.

The L1011 Tristar is my favortie civilan Lockheed jet. My favortie Lockheed jet is the C-5 Galaxy and the F35C made it behind the L1011.
