  • catweazle on 2nd guitar!!!

  • May be, a little bit too short...

    sry formy timber rotten spelling

  • fantastic solo at the end, refreshing to hear something so unique, great lyrics also

  • Where do you get these lyrics Nick. You are god.

  • @Brulesable fuck! isn't that what they really are?

  • "the spinal cord of JFK wrapped in Marilyn Monroe's neglige I give to you" COME ON!!! <3

  • @Brulesable yes they do ha ha

  • lyrics are special. great band! Cave wins my all time genius award!

  • Where the fuck is yo stache?

  • @mitchellanthonydillo actually I believe that is just a Squier Vintage Modified Duo-sonic. he uses them alot for 6 string stuff, it looks dead similar to his signature Eastwood tenor guitar.

  • SILVER CHALICE AWARD TO THE BUMPKIN-HOST !!

  • @Brulesable hehe yeah but they still rock :D

  • best cave album (lyrically) since The Boatman's Blues

  • I also discoverd the heavy in exactly the same way, love to those who made up sound hound x

  • Hands up if you found this because of Luther?

  • Nick , you got the spinal chord of gfk? What about his liver?Do you ATE it? When NOT , you may send it to ME ! AND I DO NOT LIVE IN FRANCE!!!

    P.S.:Great tune,anyway!!!

  • FAR better than the "album" version!!!!

  • Oh...i am think this version is so much better then album version...

  • so fkin raw...love it..nick u inspire.as always.

  • Does anyone had a tab for the lead guitar ?? I know the chords but i want to play the lead that warren plays any ideas?

  • When i`m in heaven, god will let me tape cave!

  • Appeared more times than anyone else on later with jools holland.

We need Cave TV, i'd subscribe. That and chopin TV and maybe Beethoven TV, okay and maybe Bach TV.

  • G'wan, Marty P!

  • Bass. motionless and he drives the whole machine.

  • OK, maybe I'm being harsh. I didn't want to offend Cave fans as I am one too. You sometimes get a lyric which just "grinds" you & that is one for me that's all. Thanks for the replys to a bit of fun :-)

  • This is one briliant track, and with a Thin line Tele and a Strat together ,you cant go wrong! Excellent.

  • hey look! their mandolin player decided to come on again with a real guitar? lol

  • Nah, denny man i like the jfk /marilyn monroe line, contrived sure but everyything's contrived, no? The ali mcgraw/ steve mcqueen bit is good as well.

Come on denny it's a pop lyric about love. Get a girlfriend man.

  • patnja brate,on se patio pjevajuci ovo...nije ovo Nick

  • That line about JFK's spinal cord/Monroes negligee is so embarrasingly contrived it makes me shudder when I hear it. Just name a couple of cool people add some surreal random bullshit to each rhyming couplet - job done. "Sophia Loren's ankle sock, on Marlon Brando's severed cock - I give to you etc etc yawn

  • @dennyking @dennyking I see where you're coming from -- at first it seems contrived. But in my opinion, that's what makes this a brilliant tune. One can come up with a thousand other verses: "Esoteric infiltrations of Abu Dhabi on vacation, I give to you. Now let's get out of the cold." I mean, where was that line when I needed it?

Thanks, Mr. Cave, for all the great music throughout the decades. Truly one of the all-time inspiring talents.

  • @GarySinghSJ Thanks Gary, you have good taste

  • @dennyking I agree.

BTW can I use that ;)?

  • @dennyking since you are so smart, why are we watching Nick Cave videos and not yours? Its easy to pick holes in other peoples work, not so easy to better it,eh? Show me something you've produced, then i'll be impressed. All you've done is the primary 2 "poet and dont know it" routine.

  • come on baby let's get out of the cold

  • @mitchellanthonydillo ? A tenor guitar is a four string guitar. I only see a four string bass

  • fkin wow.......let me post this..the happy dead ..brill.i know where you commin from..

  • fkin wow.......let me post this

  • Some of Caves best lyrics, I mean 'the spinal chord of JFK, wrapped in Marilyn Monroes negligee ' is pretty fucking astounding. And what fabulous facial hair they have (caves case had), my Father always taught me you can always trust a man with a good beard and Warren Ellis' is Biblical

  • Could they please murder Jools Holland as a finalé?

  • I love Grinderman and Nick Cave...so amazing.

  • love love love

  • i like this so much more than the album version

  • was at the Tivoli aswell, geat venue, great night, epic show.i feel very privelidged to witness an artistic genius at his craft....cmon baby lets get out the cold...

  • @mitchellanthonydillo.that's a squier duo-sonic.a normal cheap chinese guitar

  • These guys did the Tivoli in Brisbane, Australia, just after the floods. It was the best live show I've seen aside from the Dead Kennedy's in 1983. True story.

  • Ireland in June Hell Yeah!!!

  • Saw them last Friday at The Enmore in Sydney. Excellent!

  • I just picked this album up a few days back. I liked this song right off, but on multiple listens, it really wraps up the album perfectly. For a testosterone-driven album, this is as delicate as they get...and it's kinda pretty in a weird Nick-and-Warren kinda way.

  • nick cave, you are all time and never ever fail to disappoint

  • Warren Ellis is Rasputin returned.

  • @aimlessalchemist Rasputin played the Mandocaster? Who knew?

  • @aimlessalchemist You say Rasputin, I say Charlie Manson ;)

  • First of all I came on YouTube praying for a live version of this song, especially one from Jools, and found it. And Nick's playing his Nocaster. This video couldn't be any better. I think it might actually be the best video of all time. Ever.

  • I play this on the piano in my local pub, it's a beautiful tune and the lyrics lilt over the edge of the verse so gorgeously. I'd love to tell you about another tune this reminds me of, but you need to ask your auntie maybe.

  • most masculine band on the planet

  • In this They look like GODS and in Heaten Child in this same show They look like DEMONS XD

  • I'd expect Nick Cave to have J.F.K's spinal cord and Marilyn Monroe's negligee. But I wouldn't expect him to give it away.

  • The chorus in this song is so incredibly genius. Nick keeps showing us that he knows exactly, EXACTLY what rock'n'roll is about.

  • Amazing performance, I like it a ton more than the studio version. And I like the studio version a lot, which goes to show just how awesome this is.

  • these lyrics make me smile so much. None better

  • Fucking brilliant.

Watching this has made me decide to get tickets to see these guys at the Enmore in Jan.

  • The spinal cord of JFK, Wrapped in Marilyn Monroe's negligee, I give to you...........YEAH YOU WILL!! :)

  • Whats the effect on the lead solo anyone? Sounds like hes using an octave with some distortion???

  • A scum rock "Isis"

  • @mitchellanthonydillo I'm not a guitarist or a technician, but the tenor guitar warren is using is a bit different, you can see that one in heathen child or worm tamer video, from jools holland too or in a video titled 'Warren Ellis Signature TENOR Guitar from EASTWOOD'.

So, that one should be a 'normal' guitar :)

  • @thesoulbreath it's a squier duo sonic - fantastic

  • @thesoulbreath that's a squier duo-sonic ,a normal cheap chinese guitar

  • @thesoulbreath Yeah the one Warren Ellis is using here is a Classic Vibe Squier Duo-Sonic not his Eastwood signature tenor guitar.

  • @thesoulbreath you're correct sir, it's a Squier Duo Sonic, not his tenor guitar.

  • @thesoulbreath it's i think a fender mustang or super sonic. not sure about the name but this guitar has a smaller scale, but yes a normal guitar.

  • @thesoulbreath i believe its a fender (squire) music master, but thats just an educated guess.

  • @thesoulbreath The guitar he's using in this particular video is a Squier Classic Vibe Duo Sonic. It's one of the best fucking guitars on the market right now (I'm a little biased since I own one...and it blows higher end guitars I've owned out of the water).

  • Nick Cave playing barre chords O_o

  • @Peskajumba it's a Fender Duo Sonic

  • what bass is he playing??

  • His moustache is out but his touch is still right there...

  • Nick Cave plays a Tele. The world is a nice place...

  • @veitchy88 and its a thinline!!

  • does anyone know what sort of guitar warren is playing?

  • got grinderman2 4 days ago must of played it 30 times so far :-)

  • Saw a great show yesterday in the Oosterpoort in Groningen (Holland)

  • Great show yesterday in the Oosterpoort in Groningen!!

  • The spinal cord of JFK wrapped in Marilyn Monroe's negligee. GENIUS!

  • Now this is a grown, talented man expressing his feelings; love and devotion in mindless extreme and abandonment... you truly have a way with words Mr. Cave.

  • Comment removed

  • I agree. This should be on a Bad Seeds album. Thats maybe why i like it, and damn i like it. Pure pop ;-)

Mr.cave you are a true rockstar, but with a guitar in your hands, you look like me with a guitar in my hands, and i´m NO rockstar...

  • One could argue that this song belongs one a Nick & Seeds album rather than on Grinderman 2 and it wouldn't be completely wrong. But after all, I'm just happy that this song is.

  • This song is so addictive...has been playing in my head all day and I only listened to it twice. Have been broke, but am buying the album this week. Food isnt a necessity, Grinderman is.

  • warren ellis looks a lot like richard manuel from the band... who knows, maybe cave is his dylan ))

  • Hmmm.... A similarity, yes, but this is magnificent genius while "Grey Man" is bland AOR dross.

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE everything you always upload, love the new album, can't wait for the show in November.

  • Filthy old perverts! It was funny watching Blandon Flowers having to follow this with his uninspired limp and boring nothingness.

  • Great stuff.

  • we all know Nick has a way with words, but the lyrics in this are a bit special. Got Grinderman 2 the day it came out and its just getting better every time i listen to it. Superb

  • @TheLexyboy lyrics :-) - spinal cord of jfk wrapped in marilyn monroe negligee .......genius

  • @nsmith4cg you could pick out any lines in this song at random and they would look good! "A custard coloured superdream of Ali McGraw and Steve McQueen" ! Perfection!!!

  • @TheLexyboy Really? I love this BECAUSE of the lyrics... Woke up today with this tune in mind, and it hasn't been a bad day at all....

  • @Duniel not sure if im reading your comment the way its intended, but i was complimenting the lyrics as well. I personally think the song is better suited to The Bad Seeds, but hey, wtf do i know ! Just glad its out there to enjoy.

  • @TheLexyboy This is a very good track! Very morerish....

  • Saw this last night, really enjoyed this. Really strange to hear the fag brandon flowers singing right after heathen child! I think they stumble a little bit at the start but they pull it off in the end

  • yeah was kinda weird having grinderman followed by brandon and letting thye scossors sisters finnish. the should have give mr cave and grinderman the rightfull place at the end with 2 songs back to back

  • @looperama It was kind of stupid having a genius like Nick Cave in the same room as Brandon, they should have had their own show.
