  • Thank you so much for this help. I am still using FCE and the rendering of imports for a new video I am editing was excruciating. impossible. You really saved the day! Thank you so much!

  • rendering is a pain in the ass. this program really helps!

  • yeah, i already knew about all of this...it doesnt work for shit...my final cut is retarded.

  • were i get program for no more rendering at

  • how do you do it without changing the clip from a 16:9 aspect ratio to 4:3?

  • @qroxfire nevermind, found it. ppl, if your footage comes out squished, click options next to the compression selection and choose 16:9.

  • That didnt work AT ALL! Waste of time...

  • Cool! Really helps, thanks!

  • but it converts a 75megabyte flv file, to an almost 3 gigabyte mov.. is that correct?

  • This is also true if your using Final Cut Pro using the same app or compressor convert or import using final cut into Prores 442 (hq) (depends on what your footage was shot with) this really helps when converting my dslr footage

  • i have this MPEG program but i edit music videos which usually have a shit load of different clips, anyone kno if theres a way you can put all of them thru this program in one go or do i have to sit and go through each and every clip??

  • @CharlieStumble I have the same problem!

  • WOW, you've saved me so much time. Before, I had to import a DV and an AIFF file and try and match them... a pain. THANKS SO MUCH !!!!!

  • THANK YOUUUUUUUUUU!!! :D

  • good to know about that program

  • thank you!!!!

  • awww you have a cockateil!!

  • Hey I've got that case!

  • Thanks-you so much!

  • You rock.... Thanks!!!

  • This does not work for me! It fixes the render issue, but it scrunches the widescreen 16:9 footage I have to 4:3. I've tried choosing "unscaled" and "854x480 16:9", but then the render issue appears again. I've also tried what someone suggested and changing the sequence settings to match the clip, but that doesn't appear possible. There are only default settings to choose from. Pretty much driving me crazy.

  • @SHack7498 It isnt working for you because she is using the wrong codec. Do not use DV/DVC as she suggests. Use "APPLE INTERMEDIATE CODEC" - that will keep the video widescreen in QT & QTPro.

  • what if i've filmed something in 720p using a 720p camcorder should i change the frame size to 720 in the settings? does it have any affect?

  • dude ur so smart thanks so much for that :-))))))

  • what are the 'easy setup' settings in fcp?

  • Thanks! Rendering blows

  • I love you.

  • great help! thank you so much!

  • Can you use this program for HD video? I want to edit in HD, but I always had to render, brining it down to standard. What's the point of having an HD camera if I can't edit HD? If I can, I'll download this right away. Thank you!

  • Thanks, I'll try it. I used to work with Adobe Premiere before I got a mac, there was never any of this rendering nonsense.

  • fuck it, ill render.

  • don't see the point in doing all of this for a few minutes of rendering time...

  • Thumbs up if your leaning on your left elbow?!?! :D

  • @SummitTraxxas how did you know ?!?!?!

  • @SummitTraxxas Damn! how did you know???

  • @SummitTraxxas Dude WHAT THE HELL? I leaned on my left elbow like the second I clicked this video.....

  • @414Media I Know right!!

  • Thanks It helped alot!!!!

  • its actually a cockatiel bird.

  • MPEG streamclips is NOT a free software. You have to pay to export video files, it does not allow you to do that function with a free trial. So don't waste your time downloading it if you dont feel like paying, you wont be able to export to quicktime anyways.I am currently rendering for an obnoxious 11 hours. Anybody have any better suggestions? I received a 2 hour live performance video that was originally a vob file format. It took all night to get it to mov. now i gotta wait half a day :(

  • thank you so much!!!!!!!

  • Better system to avoid renderings - just import in final cut - export a quicktime in stead of rendering the file (takes the same time as rendering the file) and reimport that exported file...simpel

  • @TijlUylenspiegel What a hassle either way. This is never a problem in vegas. Doesnt rendering the original take away from the original quality, only to render again? Or can we copy all of the edits onto the actual original?

  • @chaywoo : yes it is a hassle - of course rendering or not depends of the system you have. fe i will install hard disk at fibrechannel speed and i suppose i will not have to render anymore (but i'm not sure if fcpro works like that, my hard disk system washooked up at a premiere suite and there i didn't need to render anymore). Of course fibrechannel costs a lot of money and is therefore pro material).

  • Quality wise you don't loose quality if you export a quicktime in a higher resolution then your original file. So see that your timeline settings are better the original file and export this. I did it the test with ripped youtube material, and the rendered clips were of better quality because i blown them up. Even if your final clip is smaller again, it is good to work in a timeline that has better(bigger) setting and once your edit finished to export in a smaller format.

  • @TijlUylenspiegel Hey that actually sounds like it makes since.. Definitely something I will try out, save me a ridiculous amount of time.. Thanks I appreciate it.

  • It's gonna take as just as long as rendering in Final Cut Pro OR Express...

  • IT'S NOT WORKING!

I have used for a couple of months and it's now not working!

  • As long as your clips match your sequence settings, you wont have to render..... Just right click on your clips to get the settings, then make the sequence settings match. Adjust sequence settings by right clicking the session in the browser window.

Your adding another step and third party program to your workflow which is unnecessary.

  • @gunthervinson

Not correct. In FCE you can change the setup, within SD, HD and AVCHD. If you have a foreign codec video imported to any sequence it WILL ask for rendering. Than make sense to convert the material to FCE native editing codec.

  • Doe you know if this technique works for ACHDV, same a 60 fps film?

I don't mind rendering again when finished but the incremental rendering, as you say, just drives me crazy. Thanks

  • @jguzzino

No. This will work only for NTSC SD.

In your case you can use Mpeg Streamclip, but you need to choose APPLE INTERMEDIATE CODEC, set to 60 frames.. You may need to render, but will be shorter time

  • COCKATEILS I HAVE THEM too

  • i tried this and it still made me render!?!?

  • thanks a million. just started working with FCut and a great camera and they don't like each other. ridiculous really, but you saved me with streamclip.

  • YAY I LOVE YOU :D

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

  • You have saved me so much time and aggravation! Thanks so much for posting!

  • but wait will you still be able to watch your video in HD?

  • Thank you so much

Im sick of waiting 1 hour to render a clip that last's like 5 minutes

  • I LOVE YOU

  • Tweet Tweet !! ... Thankyou :-)

  • I did everything you did, step by step with you and it didn't work for me. I still get the red line and need to render. What's up?

  • I think this is going to save me hours!!!! thank you!!!

  • OMFG. Me love you!

  • It says there is a watermark over it!!!

  • I love how you take your time to explain everything.

  • i think that's a parrot

  • YOU ARE THE BEST!!!!!!

  • I have 1080p footage... how would I do this with that?

  • @dancinghorsez Nobody ever answers your questions regardless of where you go on a tutroial, they are all in a sacred club.

  • I used the emboss effect and it still says i have to RENDER :(

  • THANKS U SAVED MY LIFE!!!

  • Thanx a bunch!!

  • Thanks - I'll certainly try this.

  • Thanks so much! :D

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! I LOVE YOU!!! THIS HELPED SO MUCH!! UR AWESOME!!!

  • Thanks for making this tutorial! It helped alot!

  • LOFL I had mpeg-streamclip for some time because i needed to convert some files, and I never knew I could do this with it. Thank you so much! :D

  • for me it takes 15 minutes to render 40 seconds of video

  • I think this is a great workaround in some senses, but I can't believe it's the software makers intended one? surely? There must be a way of viewing what you've just done / edited before committing to the edit? yes, one can 'undo' of course. Doesn't this mean that iMovie is more sophisticated in this sense?

  • Thanks for this, but if I edit the clip at all do I still have to render?

  • thanks, you've saved me lots of time, and you've just earned yourself a new subscriber :D

  • When i had an effect to the a certain part of the clip it goes say unrendered how do i fix this?

  • Thank you so much for this tutorial!!! I have needed something like this for a long time.

  • by far the best thing ive seen all night..thanks a bunch

  • Massive THANK YOU. You've given me time back in my life. So good of you to publish this top tip. Its easy and worked for me. :D

  • I have done exactly this for final cut express and it's still not working!!! I still have to render the video!!! (audio is rendered) Any IDEAS!?!?!?

  • You are AAAAAWWWEEESSSOOOMMMEE!!! This has been bugging me for months!

    Thanks so much!!

  • I HATE RENDERING!!?RF>EGMLSNV:FD<AEFWGRXBCGdfx

  • Great video! I put my clips into iMovie then shared them via xml for Final Cut Express. All is good with my clips, but I have to render every single transition and filter. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

  • thanks alot!!!!!!!

  • awesome thanks!!

  • Great vid thanks for the help on it :D

  • thats what ive been doing all a long how can i not have to render!?!?!

  • nice! works like a charm! thanks IMacArly

  • For the Most Part, iMacArLy is a life saver!

  • THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH. What do you need for christmas. lol

  • Thaaaaaaaaanks :) Love you

  • You lady are a life saver!!! Thanks so much!!!!

  • thank u that helps a lot to me

  • thaanks u completly helped me out:D

  • Im completely new to final cut and this got me started. I spent hours last night trying to figure out why my videos and audio wouldn't play together! Ha. Very helpful, THANKS!

  • you frickn rock

  • Thank you!

  • wth is the squeaking in the background?

  • Cockatoo ?

  • @cshih1calvin That is a bird.

  • @cshih1calvin parrot

  • @cshih1calvin It's a bird I think.

  • @cshih1calvin Sounds like a cockatiel

  • @cshih1calvin i bet it's a guinea pig.

  • what do you prefer to have the "Easy Setup" setting if you wanted to make a video widescreen? and what format do you have to have it at? im exporting them with ".mov" format.

  • Great video girl, you saved me a lot of time! I am a aspiring movie director who is getting use to Final Cut and this works great! Thanks a lot for making this video.

  • damn your smart yo! hahaaah serio!!!!!

  • i Love you so much for this. You saved me so much time! <3

  • On a Canon Rebel T2i do you recommend using the program you had in this video as a converter for Final Cut Express? I know canon shoots in a .mov file format so to convert it into a more friendly format could you use this?

  • I love you! i was skeptical at first, but because i already had the converter program, i tried it, and it was very helpful. I just started working with hd footage and my computer could barely play it, nevermind edit and apply effects in fcp. but after converting it to the apple native codec, it plays smoothly and makes it much easier to edit. thanks!

  • bless your soul!!!!!!!

  • Thank you. So much. You're a grand woman.

  • It seems to have worked for everyone else but I did it and it still says unrendered :-( any idea what I might be doing wrong? HELP! xx

  • To someone like who's sole purpose of their video is to edit something else to make something new, this was a huge help!

  • I can't add any effects to my video after I did this... how do you add effects?

  • I just want to tell you how much this video has SAVED MY LIFE! LOL! I was a rendering fool before this. I shoot with a Canon 7D, and I use mpegstream to compress it to the largest HD rate and it maintains the widescreen aspect and I still don't have to render. I still do if I'm going to do motion blur, but other than that, it's terrific. Thanks so much!

  • fucking bird

  • Hi Why I was wondering if you can help me why do I get a General error on final cut express thanks thanks for this tutorial you make my life easier keep it up what do you do for special effects on video editing like transitions and effects

  • I´m not trolling on you… Literally you saved a newbie two hours of dumb rendering =) … Thanks =D

  • I fucking love you!!! =3

  • u just saved me about a 2-3 hour round trip to portland. pretty sweet.

  • OK, I have this, it's free, but after I use it three times, it adds a watermark and says I should buy. I thought it was free. Do you know what i should do? I mean, it's free, so why should I buy it?

  • this doesnt work for HD videos

  • in your wallpaper, the iphone on the lft should be in the middle

  • thank you SOOO much for this video!! veeery helpful for me, when I was trying to figure out this for ages!! :) thank you!! :D

  • thank you so much!!!

  • This Didnt Work For ME

    HELP????!!!!!

  • Do You Need To Render It In FCE First?

  • @MisterCozMiiC I suggest you render it in Mpeg first.

  • Comment removed

  • I am runing sno lepard 2 my camera records on 720p can I do this do i need to change the settings on the Mpeg program thanks for your video is really cool

  • This is the most helpful Final Cut tip I have ever seen. Thank you so much

  • THANK YOU VERY VERY VERY MUCH

  • i have final cut pro and i was wondering if you have to render you clip if you are going to export it to quicktime

  • doesn't work if you're going to use masking...

  • I THINK I LOVE YOU!!!!!! THIS IS AWESOME! Thank you

  • thank you :D:D

  • Do you know if this works with SnowLeopard?

  • @queenofnorway And yes, it does. :) Thanks for this very helpful post - it will prevent me from going crazy for the wrong reasons. :D

    Love and Peace,

    Always and All Ways

  • Afterwards, i had to change it to unlimited rt

    but yea

    Thanks

  • but doesn't it chew up hd space? If you want to do it easier you should go to FCE then click the button in the top right of the time like and set it to Unlimited render, and you will be able to see it, but its not rendered (its choppy but it will get the job done until you have to render.)

  • I have a project due for some VIPs in 1hr and I was having rendering issues... you saved my presentation.... Thanks!

  • YES! Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes!!! Thank You!!

  • how do you do this for widescreen footage? im new to mac and FCE and having to render a clip everytime i change the clip is not cool.... anyways please respond

  • @shredfest14 import your footage into imovie, imovie will make a folder on your hd with the footage in it, you can just import that footage right into final cut and you will not have to render and it will be in wide screen

  • @iMacArLy I had the same problem. I tried other output formats, but it didn't work. After you drag the clip onto the timeline, drag it into the viewer as well. Click on the 'motion' tab and select the 'distort' drop down menu. Then change the aspect ratio until the clip fits the window! It will be right, because streamclip just seemed to squash the video, not crop it.

  • @iMacArLy what about the easy set up?

  • @iMacArLy i have the exact same problem and tried that but got an error. it says "file error. 1 file(s) recognized, 0 access denied, 1 unknown". Do you know what the situtation is? thank you so much in advance

  • @shredfest14 : before you actually import your footage or clips into final cut, when you create a new project and sequence, go to sequence>settings, and set up your sequence settings to the appropriate settings based on the footage you shot. for example, if you shot widescreen, change it to 16x9 in the settings. . . if your putting widescreen footage into a sequence thats set to 4x3 standard, its going to want to render all the time, and going to want to change your settings to match your clip.

  • You can do the exact same thing exporting from QuickTime 7.

  • YOU'RE MY HERO!! Thank you so much!

It always took me long time to edit my videos and release them on youtube, but now thanks to you, I can now say: NO MORE RENDERING FOR LIFE!!

Now my videos will be rapid than ever before... Thanx!

  • u said not to touch anything else.... wat if ur camera records an aspect ratio of 1280 by 720 (HD) can i put it on that setting HD and i still wont hav to render? or does it hav to be 720 by 480 :( caz that would suck

  • *Sigh* still nobody has an HD version of this.
