The song Ride On is an ancient Celtic poem/song that was originally performed by the band Celtic Thunder. It has incredible lyrics! It's one of my all time favorite songs. Does anyone know who this recording is by? i know james mccarthy composed it, there's a lyrical by christy moore, but who is THIS version recorded by, with the pipes? please, it's driving me CRAZY!
For example: The majority of our technological advancements have been that of machines of war. That is a pretty sad statistic... We take pride in creating things to destroy ourselves. Im beginning to think that the dinosaurs weren't so stupid..I mean look how long they survived on Earth, and humans a mere 200,000 years in comparison, and we are almost on the endangered species list.....
makes me cry also, and makes me think about the univers, and how and how long ago were we put here in Earth. And the fact that the universe is so old and huge just gets me nostalgic. : ( our planet was so beautiful just 100 years ago before we started to over populate and polute.: ( God come back please don't forget about us.
lol We are far from over populated ZR. Most of the planets population is packed into tight urban centers. If you gave each family an acre of land the entire human population would fit into an area the size of Texas. One acre of land can grow enough food to support that family.
You have to keep in mind that the majority of the population live in Cities, and there are large portions of the planet where you can walk for weeks, and never run into another human. Eventually yes we may over populate, but nature has not so nice means of keeping everything in check.
This is the conclusion from someone who actually did the math on this.
"The total world population could move to Texas and make Texas in to a functional MEGA city that acre by acre would look much like New York City does today. Leaving the Rest of the world with out a single person on it."
I concur with Dt0x75.. everything he said is proven fact. Don't fall for the global warming propaganda to make you believe humans must die to save the world. God created this earth in a way that we would be able to survive in it no matter what long enough for him to return again one day.

That's a drastic oversimplification. The world has relatively little arable land. In fact, there is about 1 arable acre per person currently. Factor in that using all of this land would involve cutting many forests, building enough infrastructure to accommodate that immense sprawl, and eventually it becomes clear that the human population, as well as its exponential growth rate, is a problem that warrants attention.

I stated a fact, and it is...Plop the population into Texas, and the rest of the planet is human free.
How many times a day do you waste food? How much water do you waste?... Another fact is that every person in the industrialized world wastes enough food, and water each day to feed one starving family. There is enough materials to house the worlds population...You fail to see we would reuse what we moved out of. ;)
Then good. Design a civilization where you can tell people to waste zero food and other materials. Try if you can to design a civilization that doesnt need to build infrastructure or the other things I mentioned. You were right. You can fit them into Texas. Your first statement that the world is not overpopulated may or may not be correct depending on what standard of living we as people wish to obtain.
You, however, provide only an anecdotal statement which takes into account NO larger systems, and one which as a result proves almost nothing. Instead, you rely on the assumption that trying to stop people from out breeding our natural environment is futile, which is a fatalistic statement.
You sir, are free to have fun in your dystopia if you ever succeed in creating such a monstrosity, while I and some of those who voiced similar concerns will continue trying to improve the real world.
It is true that the waste of modern society is grotesque, but even if we salvage all our wasted food to solve starvation problems in Africa, it won't fix the situation that many hundreds of millions live in non-arable land, that some parts of the globe are outbreeding their ability to feed themselves, or very much else. Now, plop the entire population onto Texas and they all starve. It's a reasonably dry state west of I-35 and the Ogallalla is drying up.

Nah I know this would never happen, and yes it would be a very miserable existence. I think Nature will thin the herd on her own. She hasn't in a long time, and we are overdue for a reality check from good ol' mother nature. I just stated a mathematical fact is all.
