Is it just me, or in this song (CD version/mp3) when they do the "part 6" area of the song, you know around 1:40, doesn't it sound like they're hitting an F# on the HIgh E string, on the third/last chord of the progress?
example it does C5, E5, D5 with the left hand, right hand is 7 and 7, 12 and 12, but the third time it sounds like a 14th fret F# on the high E is added to the E......
Hey guys, our headlining tour started today in Houston! We're playing an 80 minute set each night! Check out the rest of the dates through our website linked in the "video" information up top. Hope to see a lot of you at the shows! -Chris
@alexismorche Chris is really nice to his fan.. He even take the time to properly reply a question from fans which surprise me, since not lot of band do that kind of thing. Go to his channel and add him on Facebook and you'll see what i mean.
Haha I don't blame you dude. The first time I saw it, I thought it was an 8 string custom Ibanez. Turned out it was a 7 string made by Sherman guitars, I'm pretty sure.
@Lawrbear No, just a passion for great music. I've seen completely idiotic people like great music and highly intelligent people enjoy awful radio hits. Of course it goes both ways, but intelligence and music taste really don't have that much to do with each other. Then again there are so many grey areas to everything.....
Damn did they go to college for this? If not that's immense talent. You don't hear people play with this kind of emotion anymore. It takes a lot of time and skill to write music like this..
@AgentSpiral I believe Tosin Abasi went to music school, however I'm not sure if these guys did. I wouldn't be surprised if they did, but y'know it's hard to teach how to put emotion into music, and in my experience, if you put too much music theory into it, then it loses emotion. There's a good saying: "Learn the theory, then throw it out the window". You learn the technical sutff so that you know what you're doing, and then you disregard it in favor of emotion and what sounds good to you.
@AgentSpiral yeah they did, Musician's Institute in LA (I talked to Chris after the show yesterday). Travis and Chris are from Houston, and they all went to MI.
Even if they did, it's STILL immense talent, and I'd say even more, since they have so much technical ability and skill, but they have such restraint and compositional ability.
@dragonreborn7 I know they're playing seven strings I should have said more strings than 6 I guess. Listen to Animals for Leaders. Arguably Tosin Abasi is the best guitar player of our time. He plays an 8 string and I've never seen a cooler slap technique than his.
@dragonreborn7 Other than AAL which has been said, there's After The Burial, and I think Born of Osiris said there were going to use 8 strings at some point if they didn't already
@dragonreborn7 i know this isnt djent prog or anything but whitechapel uses 8's and the acacia strain does now, all the other bands people have said except born of osiris only uses 7's molotov solution uses 8's too, and a lot more i cant remember
You guys think this is amazing to watch them play this on here? I've seen them play it live, with Jordan and Pat, dear god it was amazing, especially at like 2:25
@742617044427 Ibanez Universe 7 string. I don't think it's the guitar itself, it's a pretty nice guitar and has a good clean tone, but when i do this kind of hammer-on-tapping the strings just dont ring out crystal clear like they do in the video, though it's also probably my technique :/
@tiekoe jus cuz you said something about dislikes, im going to dislike it. i am tired of everyone writing some stupid shit about dislikes. its retarded
@artlovemusicpeace so reply on a reply about dislikes... so then i can reply about you replying about other ppl replying about dislikes... anyone want to kkeep it goin?!?

@shockandawe123 Yeah. I got one too. I had to adjust the neck and get it set up and whatnot. But it HAULS. Sounds fantastic, Plays Great. Easily as good as $1500 guitars.
@BeADjent AAL and scale the summit have totally different styles, so you can't really compare them in such manner. Your name suggests that you like Djent, therefore AAL would be more suitable for your tastes. The same can't be said for other people too.
@xtheangelx At this technical level in guitar playing they could probably play freebird with their eyes closed. If your a guitar player you should know that.
