yeah...you need a controller to play..either a guitar,drum or microphone(Which you will need to plug a ps2 controller to navigate the menus)

you use the dualshock for the microphone to navigate through the menus. but you cant substitute it for a guitar. or drum controller for that matter.

The graphics are... okay, but the chracters are the only thing that's actually 3D, the background is actually prerendered full motion videos of those stages. That's the reason why [depending on certain PS2 models] the load times are SO SLOW!

My verdict: Graphics, load times, and video quality isn't all that good, but the overall gameplay is still enjoyable. I recommend getting the PS2 version if you don't plan on upgrading for a while (I'm stuck on PC gaming for now).

The graphics are way too good on the PS2, my friend always complains that the fretboard lags :/ I tried it once at his place, and it does lag... on the PS2 we can only play in The Forum, Practice Stage and the Metallica HQ, all other venues lag :/

oh and the lights effects...every song haves light effects...for example...when you play "No Excuses by Alice In Chains" the lights only changes colors,,,but when you play "For Whom The Bell Tolls"(which is the first song on Career mode)the lights look so cool...
