  • He's one of the worst students we got.

  • ahaha that's my school! good old sjs. I see the chapel and the quad...

  • modern classic

  • ah, fucked up aspect ratio. bummer.

  • this is said to be one of Frank Iero's (MCR's guitarist) favorite movies that's why I wanna watch it. hehe. i've seen his other two faves already :p

  • @AlexGirlYeah@mclobnob...i know rushmore isn't a "real" school, but based off of st. john's. i went to sjs for 13 years

  • @mclobnob went to rushmore. it is a school. you clearly don't know anything if you think it is based on another school.

  • went to rushmore

  • Latin isn't dead in botany is it? Or the foundation of other languages that help you learn others faster because it's all faciliar. But.. yes, it's rarely taught in high school. Not a language kids will put to use immediately... so you'd basically have mono-lingual graduates even if they took 4 years of latin.

  • Is latin dead?

  • @southerndandy89

Not unless you want to become a Priest.

  • went to Rushmore

  • @mavreb76 it's based on Lamar High School. I go to it.

  • @AlexGirlYeah Yes, all the Cleavland segments were based on and were filmed at Lamar HS, which is almost directly across the street from St. John's, where the Rushmore Academy segments were filmed.

Lamar is an awesome school. Don't let the poor HISD performance numbers get you down. You track into Bellaire or Lamar, or can get into Booker T or De Bakey, you'll get one of the best HS educations you can get in the US

  • Hahahaha, he's such a smart ass. I love it.

  • I'm really looking forward to his new movie coming out in 2012!

  • whats the guys name who is playing max? i cant remember.

  • @tomo12392 Jason Schwartzman.

  • hahahah its funny how i got to school everday never thought about a movie being made here #lamarhighschool :)

  • thanks

  • it SOOOOOOOOO reminds me of The Royal Tanenbaums,!!

  • @daisy3098 That's Wes Anderson for ya

  • lol i go to the school this movie was filmed at everday..

  • @natalyt94 Where is it?

  • @Nigelxman1 St. John's School, though some parts where filmed at Lamar High school (which is on the other side of our fence from our school)

  • @natalyt94 Cool. It must be surreal to see your school in a film. A great film no less. :-)

  • HOLY SHIT IT'S GIDEON!!!

  • i dont get this movie. i dont get the point.

  • @HotBroodish It's quite an esoteric movie. You're not alone.

  • @mtb416 i could be dumbing down the movie but i think there's multiple points strewn throughout rushmore.

  • @HotBroodish are you serious?

  • truly inspired me.

  • < 8:00 made me think of The Life Aquatic" (great wes andy film)

  • 4:30 til 5:42 = one of the best scenes in cinema history

  • l.o.v.e. this movie

  • Love love love this film -- thank you for posting.

    So many great lines. Ex:

Max: They want to kick me out.

    Dirk: Oh, no, not _again_.

    Brilliant.

  • Scary. This movie was shot at my school.

  • This is the reason why nobody should remake 'Catcher in the Rye'.

  • I never understood the part where he finds her through the library book. Did she check out the book after she donated it to them?

  • This movie really does have a good soundtrack

  • @toordal yes i agree. the same could be said for all of Anderson's works.

  • BAH!!!

  • couldn't we just let me float by for old time sake. best line ever.

  • They might as well call this Good Max Fisher

  • Just realized that the voice at the very beggining is Anderson's.

I've seen this movie at least 10 times and every single time i find some tiny little detail that i havent seen before.

    This dude is a genius.

  • Olivia Williams=hotter than hot.

  • @SvalbardJanMayen1976 I wouldn't call her hot, but she's sexy in a nerdy Brit chick kind of way.

  • who narrates The Royal Tennenbaums? Alec Baldwin?

  • @septip123 Yeeeesssir.

  • @septip123 Yes.

  • 8:08 -8:37 vampire weekend!!! ahah jk

  • @madbionicleboy How dare you even kid about that?

  • How did I never hear of this movie before today. Hilarious

  • "You guys have it real easy. I never had it this good where I grew up. But I send my kids here, because the fact is: you go to one of the best schools in the country, Rushmore. Now for some of you, it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you. Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember: they can buy anything, but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget that."

    Thank you.

  • "couldn't you just let me float by for old times sake?" i've been there brother

  • I think more credit should be given to Owen Wilson, he co-wrote the best Wes Anderson's movies.

  • @viniciusb A lot of people say Owen Wilso helped Wes Anderson write his films, what I'm presupposing is, maybe he didnt?

  • @EricKolvek lol

  • holy shit, this was filmed in houston!

  • Exactly how old was Jason Schwartzman when this was shot? I remember seeing hen I was like 9 and thinking that Max had that same super-aging disease that Robin Williams did in Jack.

Better movie once I developed some maturity, though.

  • @ladycontrary725 Hello. Rushmore shooting started in Nov 1997, so Jason Schwartzman was 17 at that time (he was born in Jun 1980). Cheers!

  • bombardment society, I must create one!!

  • the man with the pipe looks sort of like samuel beckett. then again...

  • I hope J.S. calls Anderson every day and thanks him for letting him debut in one of his best movies

  • THE best movie ever!!

  • yeah!

  • i watch this film every now and again

    just makes me feel good

  • Wes Anderson graduated from my school and this was actually SHOT at my school. I recognize every single place here. This is how my school actually is! Chapel scene = very real xD

  • @me8cookies bahahhaha no way! xD..epic xD

  • I agree it my favorite wes anderson film my top 3 are rushmore royal tennenbalms is number two and 3 is fantastic mr fox

  • Thanks for uploading

  • "Sharp little guy."

"He's one of the worst students we've got."

    4:18

  • I love this movie ((((:

  • "When a man has an opportunity to lead an extraordinary life he has no right to keep it to himself." Jacque Cousteau. I don't agree with that quote entirely, but this movie is my favorite movie of all time!!!

  • answer to "the hardest Geometry problem in the world" is

    42.

  • Comment removed

  • what is the very first song that plays at the start of this???

  • It's from the original score by Mark Mothersbaugh (of Devo), entitled "Hardest Geometry Problem in the World." It's on the soundtrack.

  • this movie is such a great movie. i really hope that more people get to see and appreciate this great film. Wes Anderson's finest work in my opinion. Damn fine film.

  • dude hes dreaming , its not copying good will hunting. this is way better then good well hunting..

rushmore is one the best movies ever

  • i agree, but good will hunting is still really good

  • @radic14 better "than"

  • "that's probably the hardest geometry equation in the world."

"well how much extra credit is it worth?"

    lol

  • THANK YOU!!! :)

  • i dont know what this film is and ive never heard of it so lets see what happens

  • its a really great movie, u must tell your firends and people about it. realy funny

  • love this film.

    so much.

  • Ahh I always love the beginning. ;D

  • this is crazy i went to highschool infront of this church/private school lol

  • KyOlar, I wasn't comparing the two movies. I was respoding to someone. Thanks for remaining clueless.

  • No. Good Will Hunting is SHITE. THIS is a really good movie. Am I alone here??

  • I agree. Good Will Hunting was an overrated piece of crap.

  • Good Will hunting is good, and so is Rushmore. I don't knoe why you're comparing these 2 different movies.

  • lol really did you see Good Will Hunting, this first scene as well as the plot for Good Will Hunting are both based on George Bernard Dantzig who actually proved an unsolved statistics problem in 1939. Thats why they are comparing them, both based on the same guy.

  • thanks for posting this mate .I wanted to see this real bad. this is your day in the sun big cat we're all rootin for ya !

  • What is the name of the song thats playing when he sees Ms. Cross for the first time?

  • 'the lad with the silver button' by mark mothersbaugh

u shuld totes 'go to borders and buy the soundtrack' (cause it's awesome)

  • Good will hunting - I found out because I remembered the actor. There is only a small part of the beginning on youtube (1 and 2). Does anybody know if I can find it with a shortened name? I would love to see it again.

  • Hallo fans, please help!

The math scene reminds me of another film, which I would like to see again, but I do not remember the title.

Its where a young man works as a cleaner in the university. When the teacher leaves a math problem on the board, which cannot normaly be solved, he does it while he is cleaning, so in the morning its done. I dont remember how it goes on. With a well known actor. ... ??

  • Good Will Hunting

    great movie =]

  • Nice cut at 4:24 when he grabs the pipe. Left hand goes up....cut....woops now it his right hand. :-)

  • Nice spot

  • One of the greatest movies, Wes Anderson IS a genius.

  • @ItsNicoleBitches No he just good at what he does.

  • @ItsNicoleBitches No, he's not a genius. He's a talented filmmaker but not all of his films have been of the same caliber as Rushmore. This one is one of his better ones.

  • @cutis1000

that's right. as far as i'm concerned, none of them have been up to par with Rushmore. Though Tennenbaums was a good film.

  • @greekvvedge wait...the steve zizzou one was dynamite...dont forget that one

  • "Making Time" By creation...

  • What's the name of the first song, right at the begining, can somebody, please tell me? and by the way this movie ROCKS!

  • It's a song that was written for this movie's score. It's "Hardest Geometry Problem in the World," by Mark Mothersbaugh, formerly of Devo, who scored Wes Anderson's first four films. You can find it only on the Rushmore soundtrack.

  • get the soundtrack, its awesome!

  • "Harold and Maude" for the 1990's: great films!

  • I never thought of that, but it's true!

  • i hope more people know about this movie, its so epic, plus wes anderson rules in flims, this genre flim rules ,, hope it lives on,, spread the word on this movie

  • Did somebody say my name?

  • Jason Schwarts got SOOO hot when he got older! <3

  • thank you for uploading. jasons character really is a terrible person and at no point i feel sympathy for him, but all the time almost. To me this is as brilliantly played as it is directed. The soundtrack is very nice and fitting, too. That other australian movie you uploaded is very nice, too. Thanks again!

  • err, he's not a terrible person at all.

  • he's a liar, he's a false friend, ashamed of his origins, is rude towards his guest, he wants to be loved/recognized by the teacher, but on the other hand completely ignores Margarets' attempts to catch his eye. He's a cocky, little prick. A whiny teenager to me. In all WA movies the main characters are real bastards, if you take a closer look. Royal Tennenbaum, Steve Zizzou and Francis from DL, I haven't yet seen Bottle Rocket. Of course, I think that's part of the greatness of these films.

  • You know Max Fischer is supposed to be like Wes Anderson when he was in school.

  • Great! Wes Anderson in high school!! Nice idea.

  • That's a good point, I never really noticed it - probably cos Royal and Steve were such likeable bastards. Yes, he's cocky, rude, and a prick, but he's 15! Show me a 15 year-old who isn't an arrogant prick. Plus his mum died when he was little, and he's searching for something to love as a replacement - first rushmore, then his teacher. But at the end he matures and realizes how his actions can hurt others. I can't hate him because he reminds me of me at 15! Btw, Dignan in BR is also a bastard!

  • I've seen Bottle Rocket. You can throw right into that mix.

  • Weird how it sort of reminds me of a certain time in my own life, even though I never fell in love with a teacher, sabotaged a Bentley, got expelled from school or produced elaborate stage plays. I guess it's just the universal experience of teen promise and arrogance, and then maturing and realizing that the world doesn't revolve around you or owe you anything.

God, I love this film. Sic transit gloria.

  • 1 of my favorite also from wes anderson

  • I love this movie. I still remember how great it felt when I first wached it.

  • It never gets old.

  • ive seen this movie a ricidulous amount of times. love it.

  • I love this movie so much. It's a classic and it really spoke to me at a certain stage in my life. I showed it to some students in China and they missed 99% of the humor. Guess it's a cultural thing. Oh well.........

  • Comment removed

  • I know what you mean. It's a movie one wants to live in, to watch over and over, pausing and scrutinizing minutia. Between this and Bottle Rocket, I can be cheered up out of just about anything.

  • I love max fischer, he's a perfect dandy

  • I've sung in that church!!!

  • Yes she is cute.

  • The teacher in this movie is so fucking hot ZOMG I want to fuck her. what is her name again? I don't have my medicine.

  • 4:27 gets me all the time....lol.....Wes anderson is Genius!

  • the school teacher is reading Kidnapped by robert louis stevenson at the end there

  • I think this is Wes Anderson's best film so far, i watch it over and over again and i never get tired of it....it's simply great.

  • i owe you one! x

  • Is the song that is played halfway throught this section by The Who or the Stones?

  • Neither.

It is a band called The Creation and the title of the song is 'Making Time'.

  • I know it sounds so like The Who (especially thier very first song "Can't Explain"!) but it's by a band called The Creation

  • filmed in HOUSTON!

  • yeah...filmed in my high school...Lamar High School.

  • Sweet! thanks for posting.
