Arterial bloc isnt really an organisation or a long lasting group, it is just really an affinity group brought together for the summit.

There are no leaders, no heirachy and no generally no plans beyond that of the summit. So its not really a conventional group, just a few radicals who share similar views.

And i have doubts about the flown in from Europe claim.

I think that's an urban myth. I never heard any foreign accents at the protest, but lots of Australian ones. If there were any foreigners present, they kept their mouths firmly shit.

I wasn't there, I am at a disadvantage, please excuse my ignorant comments. Why block a raod with a truck, and then have no one to protect it? Was this a provocative action, or a mistake?

A mistake. The truck was left unprotected because you have to move away from the Hyatt in order to get to it.

At the time, most of the action was at a police barracade about 2 blocks away. What I know is there was a quick movement of the anarchists away from the barricades and that they clearly knew the truck was there. Someone probably spotted it and notified them that it was a soft target.

What bravery shown by the cops. 1 bloke thows a bin and they hide under a truck. From reading reports in the mainstream press about this incident I was expecting a recreation of the sacking of Rome.

Any footage of the batton charge, that reportedly followed this incident?

There were not enough police there at the time to mount an effective defence so they had to abandon that position until reinforcements arrived.

People forget that cops are not soldiers, they are required to put safety first, including the safety of criminals.

I imagine that if the police were allowed to use force against protesters with impugnity then they would have responded quite differently.
