Then they often have 2 doors, one for the control booth, and then the second that the musicians go through. So, through all of that, a lone, rhythmic janitor got through? Not to mention all the workers and entourages? I kind of doubt it, but you're welcome to believe it. It's a great solo though, isn't it?

They are just following his composition, and copying what he did. Only Eddie actually improvises. Yes Steve Luke is a great guitarist but all of Beat It was done by MJ, including the main riff. Everyone just copied it in the final version of the song.

Um, yes he did. he just preferred to beat box all instruments arrangements. But he did, in HIStory he get's credited with most of the songs in those 12 tracks for Guitar, Drums, Piano and other Synthesizers. His father said in the 70's that he thought all the boys to play instruments 3 at minimum. He just chose 2 dance and sing over playing instruments live. If i could move like him i would 2. He beat boxed all his musics arrangements.. thus he created ..composed. Simple.

Search for "jackson beat it van halen" in youtube. You will find a live performance of them in 1984. If this is the only concert they played together, I don't know.

The quality is bad, but at least the jewel exists.

There was an agreement that none of the Van Halen members should perform without the band, and this is probably the only exception Edward made.

But Hendrix in the mid 60's as you know was the first to "feature electric solo" pioneering the way for future heavy weights like Van Halen, Prince, Ernie Isley, Slash, Vai, 80's British Rockers etc. And one of my favorates from disco era rythm guitar player / producer Nile Roders who produced Madonna's mega album. Hendrix free rebel thinking showed what could be done and what was possible.

These are the guitarists that are generally called "best". Sure he is good at the style of music he plays and probably many other styles, but you can't sit there and say he is better than Buckethead or Dimebag or Kerry King. No one is better than another. People just relate differently to the music they each make. I hope this all makes sense.
