  • chalk for when you train forearms works better imo. Gloves mess with your grip too much.

  • Fantastic attempt! I like your video so much.

  • Well done. This guy really knows his stuff. Love his vids.

  • @trinex7 check out my book on amazon.com just go to "books" and type in Rico Connor

    Thanks bro

  • a lot of ppl like this guy seem to be saying how important switching ur routine is, i dont feel i have the experience to say this is wrong but, dorian yates and branch warren dont agree with this, muscle adapts if u give it stress its not used to, yes changing exersises might achieve the this responce but doesn't simple progressive overload every week give the muscle stress it's not used to, if so why change the exersises unless youv'e plataued

  • I've learned a lot from these videos. You can tell this guy is in it to help people. Thanks, Rico. You're the man.

  • @TheShepherd1987 I appreciate it. This is what I was born to do

  • @totalhealth4life I have a quick question for you. I'm not very advanced in this sort of thing and just starting out. Whe you are taking your recovering days, are you still taking the supplements, (protien etc)? Thanks, Rico!

  • @TheShepherd1987 yes protein five times a day every day

  • @totalhealth4life when u say that muscles get used to a certain workout, therefore they dont grow, that doesnt make sense to me. if i work them to absolute failure, squeezing every last rep out that i possibly can, working the muscle with 100% intensity, the muscle in my opinion has no other option than to repair itself bigger and stronger, with of course, the right caloric intake. your thoughts?

  • @leftpuman its common knowledge that shocking your muscles makes them adapt and grow faster. Plus it helps from being very bored and in a rut. When your body gets used to the same routine it wont grow as fast as opposed to doing new variations, routines and exercise orders.

  • @totalhealth4life thx for your response. im not arguing with you, but i do not understand this "shocking the muscle" concept. i mean, if x=hypertophy, and incline barbell bench presses can cause x, and dumbbell flat bench can cause x, and cable crossovers can cause x, and pushups can cause x, how is one x better than another x? if broken down muscle tissue is what we are after, and flat barbell presses provide this, how is it wrong for me to only do flat barbell presses? thx for your time

  • @leftpuman I'm going by what I've read and learned from a lot of smart people......i could never do the same boring routine every year.........going to the gym is supposed to be fun............the same thing day after day, month after month isn't fun or I believe conducive for growth.........do whatever you feel comfortable with

  • @leftpuman By you're concept, any chest exercise can cause hypertrophy. This is false due to the fact that different exercises ( different angles and or positions ) for the same body part can result in an array of muscular growth. I'll give you an example, If I Bench for 3 sets with per say.. 10 reps with 75% of my max, could I get the same growth as if i were to do 10 pushups for 3 sets with my own bodyweight? No I would have to MODIFY the exercise with more reps or add weight to make it harder

  • @MrBlooCola im not saying all those exercises are equal, my point is that i dont need to switch up my workouts to get results. my comment was based on my disagreement with the whole "shocking your muscles" theory. obviously heavy bench presses are more taxing on your muscles than pushups or flyes, and therefore more effective, i was just saying that in my opinion you dont have to shock your muscles to make them grow, hypertrophy is the only absolute necessity

  • @leftpuman I get what you're saying and you're right. But to get the absolute most of your workout, why would you do pushups every workout? Eventually... your muscles will adapt to pushups and they will become easier every time you do them (with rest of course). Growth will simply turn into maintenance because of the principle of "Shocking the body" (or what ever you call it) was not applied. To Maximize growth, it is a necessity to switch up what kinds of exercises you perform.

  • @MrBlooCola are u using pushups just for an example? cuz i rarely do pushups. my point is why should i have to switch up my chest routine if my heavy flat bb presses worked with intensity until failure are adequately stressing my pecs? i dont think its the exercise that matters, its the stress you put on your muscles that matters. so the only changing up i need to do i.m.o. is more plates!!! and God bless u

  • @leftpuman yea I was just using pushups as an example. I find it amazing that you can do straight barbell presses, not varying your routine, and still not hit a plateau, let alone still see visible result and or weight being added to your workout. I applaud you man and hope for the best for you and your fitness goals.

  • I dont know much about training different muscles. I alternate training through upper body one day and lower body the next. is this ok to do? I also do a cardio session after each lesson ( i have utilised your training video and strive towards shorter intense sessions.

  • @ishoa1 I have posted all of my training routines to give you the correct info

  • Cool routine, my friend. I enjoy your tips & advice. I've been training for 20 years straight and it is always refreshing to learn some new tips and strategies to keep growing physically, but also to keep my training fun. Peace.

  • @OtorresFitness Thanks a lot . Coming from one "in the business" it means a lot

  • hey rico, so when you say muscle "confusion" is a good thing, would it be better to do 3 sets on a machine with breaks in between then move to another machine. or would it be better to go from one machine to another only doing one set on each, and do that 3 times?

  • @scooter7461 one exercise at a time and switch the order you do them in each time you do them

  • @totalhealth4life alright thanks for that

  • hey rico im gunna be a wrestler im 16 now and iv worked out for about 2yrs and im still not big and thick and im usingmuscle milk what am i doing wrong? i work out like 3 time a week 4hrs./

  • @drakespeed123 Bro!!!! How would I know??? I don't know anything about your lifestyle, eating, nutrition, workouts, cardio and on and on. For one you are only 16! Your body is still developing.....do you know that muscle doesn't mature until the age of 35 or so? Get my book and develop a good solid foundation to grow on.

  • @drakespeed123 Speak to a trainer at your gym and get some proper advice good luck bro

  • The exercises towards the end are forearm exercises, no?

  • @carlyle101 Yes U tell you in the video they are

  • Thanks Rico!!

  • OMG.. how can i do that work out. in our gym, there is no such machine like what you are using for.. i want to build up my body!

  • Do you do other sports next to working out?

  • Hi Rico.... I want to get bigger traps and have been doing dumbbell shrugs about three days a week. I start from 15kg dumbbell and move to a max of 25kg - 15 reps each set.

Is this good technique? What changes do your recommend to get bigger better traps sooner?

    thanks

  • Train hard eat much

    And sleep 10hr per day.

  • man u look like the cap from avatar the movie :) .. welldone trained ..respect

  • 53 years old?! Damn! Rico looks better than most guys half his age. Awesome!

  • rrrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiccccccccccccccccooooooooooooooooo suaveeee

  • @slap2tap2 hahaha filipino ka ano??hahahaha

  • u went through the different types of excercises in this video can u please tell me how many reps and sets to do for each exercise i wanna build mass cheers

  • Thx bro.

    I just started training.

You have got a lot a good info.

  • how do those of us who cant afford monavie, ionized water, and dont know what a good nutrition get your body?

    thanks

  • mona vie you MAKE money on and get the product for free if you turn on some friends on to the business. My nutrition is all in my book

  • thats why youre trying to get me into it right lol

im 15, and my friends are mostly dumb. i couldnt get them to do it.

i know GNC has some acai berry drinks for a dollar or two a bottle, what do you think about those?

  • worthless bro. you have to be 18 anyway for Mona vie....

  • ah damn thanks anyway i can still buy it off of the internet

  • @Spike00513z Your still growing so you don't any of that stuff. All you need are vitamins. Just do light weights.

  • @totalhealth4life

do you supplement or are you natural

  • at what time frame should I change into a different exercise for muslces?

  • Rico..you discovered the fountain of youth!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • green food , mona vie, ionized water combined with exercise and proper nutrition........any one can do this

  • @totalhealth4life what about masturbation

    any negative effects??

  • Rico looking great man keep it up.

  • shit man hope i look that good when im 53

  • thanks bro.............55 now!!!!!!

  • I wish i looked like that now when im 19 xD

    Maaaan ur amazing!

  • Ive been in doing weight training on/off for about 2 years I have recently joined our local gym..I do quite extensive research into different weight training techniques so as I am able to benefit and make the best opportunity of each session, From what I know and have researched I would say that this guys form is wrong! he is using his muscles at the bottom of each rep to "bounce" up the weight he isn't keeping a slow controlled rhythm...Or is this another way of doing weights please help.

  • you can use countless styles of forms and techniques with shoulder

  • every one is pretty much different... HIs form was deff wrong for the shoulder raises.. but he was alos going heavy i think its optimal for him just to get it up since he has big shoulders already... .i would work on development more than heavy weigh on raises

  • youre right. when doing the front raises he bounces the weight back up which is considered to be bad form. seems to work for this guy tho lol

  • I'd rather go with free weights when doin shoulder press, and sitting up completely straight so you dont use you chest at all. Gives a better pump .

  • is the masstech from muscletech good enough to get gains or which is the best for the muscle

  • what is better lifting fre weights or doing the p90x program

  • free weights....p90x is rapid weigth loss program...you may gain some muscle but mostly definition

  • all of those r useless if u dont eat rite.

all those programs dont work because the machine or the program actually works its the nutrition diet they come wit.

if u wanna look ripped then p90 x can be good

but if u want to get bigger free weights is better

u have to do cardio at the same time tho

  • it depends what your goals are. if you want to increase your athleticism as it concerns sports and other activities then p90x is a great program. lifting weights will get you strong and bulky, but it wont make you a better athlete.

  • one question how long does it take to gain an inch in your arm if your arm is 14 inches

  • 2yrs usually

  • depending on how you workout and the different exercises you use, how often you train, how long you train, maybe about anywhere from 2 months to a year

  • as soon as you stop asking retarded questions...

  • lol!

  • Nice demonstration. But muscles don't get "confused" into growing. They don't have little brains or anything.

  • Muscles get into a routine if you don't change up exercises man. Thats the confusing part, switching them up. Muscle confusion.

  • You're right. Switching up your exercises from time to time can optimize muscle growth. A lot of people don't really know what this means. The muscles aren't getting "confused" or "shocked" really. What happens is that your body adapts to the stress of a certain workout. So by applying a new stress you simply forcing the muscle to adapt to the new exercise. This usually results in more growth. No confusion here :)

  • I know, its another saying that isn't meant to be takin literally but whatever man. You wasted time explaining that, already knew it. its basically a longer version of what i said.

  • I assume it's the center of the brain that has to do with movement (muscles etc.) that gets confused and sends out a message to the muscles... do not think of the muscles as an independent part since the brain is controlling them.

  • is that 2 many workouts for one day?

  • is it good to alternate the military press with the dumbell press? also what should I train with shoulders? I generally do legs or triceps...

    thanks a lot.

  • forearms and abs go with shoulder day

    triceps go with chest

  • Doesnt matter really. Look at all the pros, they all have diffrent systems and is still huge.

  • its easier to overtrain your muscles if u dont workout the way i was talking about

chest tri, back bi, shoulders forearms abs, calfs legs, and core strengthening on days ur not working out

  • yeh look at the pros they recover quicker thank to juice.

  • rico's the man.

  • hey nice work! would you advise anything other than the ordinary protein shakes? thanks :)

  • ......

  • Rico, How do you feel about military press behind the neck?

  • theres a reason you dont see me doing it.......puts the neck in a bad position

  • im stumped..........unless its shitty product...couldn't be muscle

  • Thanks for posting these videos! Looking good mate!

  • I found that shoulders excercises are the most difficult ones, mabye cuz am weak in my shoulders, but definetley looks a killer workout for the shoulders i will try them, thanks

  • A great informative there man. I'm off to the gym right now to try some of this stuff! I like the forearm exercises too. Cheers

  • hey i do the shoulder press at he gym and the next day my shoulders are spore like shitttttttttttttt

  • sore means you had a good workout! now you need protein and rest

  • trust me i get plenty of protein more then i need lol today i coudlt go my shoulders were killin me

  • hi mate..are protein shakes necessary..when i took them last yeaR THEY MADE ME FAT ??? please helkp

  • its not the shakes that made you fat............you need 1.5 grams of protein per lb of body weight daily to be anabolic and grow muscle

  • hi rico...literally within 2 weeks of stopping protein shakes my body shrank to normal size..honestly

  • my body would shrink in a bad way without the shakes

  • I honestly highly down you shrank, Protein hels rebuild muscel. It layers with the muscel and makes it bigger, It cant just disapear wtf!

  • I agree. Maybe it was the type of shake that has creatine in it. When you stop creatine you shrink coz you stop water retension in muscle.

  • yea. Muscel mass does reduce over time, But you dont just lose it after not having protein

  • finally that i see a bodybuilder who is not retarded...!!!

  • ha! thanks

  • blliy bob thorton holy damn you got big

  • use free weights, too much machine

  • its for beginners bro.........i DO use free weights

  • beginners can use free weights

  • LOL... you're seriously going to tell a guy who looks like he does, how to work out? You're a scrawny little punk!

  • Ronnie Coleman is huge but it wouldn't be a gd idea to copy what he does. Just because it is working for him someone else doesn't mean it will work for u. Plus that video was taken when i was 18 before i started body building, i'm 24 now and been bb for years.

  • i do not see any relevance to this point. We are watching Rico Connor, Not Ronnie Coleman. That is a totally different type of training. Like he said, these are beginner workouts for people trying to get an idea on how to focus on a specific muscle group.

  • that's where i disagree, beginners should use free weights also. aslong as u start with light weights and perfect your form u will be fine if u are a beginner.

  • its your right to disagree....i put what i feel is best for people.......it has worked quite well for me and the ten pages of people who's lives I've changed by following my advice

  • 2 questions for you to answer rico

    1) in this vid would your shoulder press be helping your triceps get bigger & stronger too?

and 2) if i eat the same foods everyday is that ok? if the foods are healthy.

  • chest and tri's day are because they are both a "push" exercise yes to some extent

try to vary your foods meats, chicken etc and all the colors of the rainbow in fruits and veggies

  • Communist!

  • welldone!

  • Nice body!! You are a great inspiration Rico! Thank you!!

  • I saw your site......are you a female and are you a bodybuilder??? Thanks very much for your kind words.

  • GUIDS:

    if i don't lift, I dance...jkjkjk

  • hello. How do you recommend to work out. what I mean is : should Day 1 be shoulder and bicepes , Day 2: back and triceps , Day 3: chest.. and soo on. What do you recommend?

    thank you

  • its in the book........sorry very busy

  • no no no. thats the dumbest schedule ive ever seen. DO chest triceps, back and biceps, legs and shoulders and youll be good

  • ok. thanks budd. I wanna add a hard cardio day in my schedule, how would this be:

    Chest,triceps,legs

    Back,Shoulder, Biceps

Cardio day (where I run, pushups, absm etc)

  • push ups wouldn't be on cardio day. Pushups work your push muscles (chest, triceps, shoulders, mostly shoulders). And personally i do shoulders on chest and triceps day, and save legs for back day. Shoulders, as push muscles, are going to compliment your chest and triceps. But what do I know?

  • hazemalsaadi, this is what i have found works best for me and lots of other people. try doing all push muscles (chest, shoulders, and triceps) on one day then do pull muscles all at one time on another day. and then legs on another day. you can get away with doing shuolders on the same day as chest and triceps. you can do cardio whenever..u actually want to do cardio everyday. like 30 minutes about. o and do abs with cardio. dont do cardio and weights at the same time though. after or b4workout

  • Thank you so much. the hardest thing sometimes is to start. But now since I got your input, I could finally make a schedule. again, thank you so much. Much appreciated. Good luck!

  • no problem man! glad i helped you out. good luck and remember have fun working out. best wishes to your new program!

  • wow dont use smith machine, do your joints go in a straight upward motion? no they dont.

  • smith machines have an incline on the support. They dont go straight up.

  • I personally find forearms the most painful of all my body parts to work out

  • i love youtube vids for advice, and you just reminded me to confuse my muscles to make them adapt and grow -- thanks -- just subscribed

  • cool subscribe to my web site too

    totalhealth4life net

  • same i forgot about alternating different exercises

  • Hi Rico. I know you always say 7 hours per week for training, is this right? So roughly an hour or so for 4 workouts per week?

    Thanks

  • 4 x 1 and a quarter and cardio

  • Thanks dude. I do about that, but not much cardio. What do you advise to do for cardio?

    Thanks man

  • HIIT.....high intensity interval training

  • Thanks mate! I lived in London for 8 months when I was 21!

  • Can you tell me more about muscle confusion and how your muscles dont grow anymore.

  • great shoulder workout

    i gonna try this

    thanks man

  • all of you pussies who make fun of rico connor are fat slobs, who sit on the computer all day, eating chips of your damn chest. He's in better shape than all of you fag, pussy, lazy cunts! go the gym for once in your life and then you'll see whats up! Ronnie,Rico Connor, arnold, jay cutler, they all train harder than you'll ever train in your entire life. keep flipping burgers you punks!

  • My peeps! Thanks for standing by me. My purpose is to help people change their lives. It gives me greater satisfaction each month as I reach more and more people. Funny you metion it. I was hanging out with big Jay last night!!! I gave him the info on water ionizers that he isn't using yet.

  • i like the way he makes a big deal about bieng 54. ronnie coleman is like 45 and is in amazing shape and will look much better than this noodle in 10 years.

  • What a chump! I love you haters! Insecure with your own body no doubt. By the way moron, Ronnie is a friend of mine....go eat a hamburger.

  • if ronnie was a friend of urs you woulld not but doing this very bad routine. and you wouldent look like a bitch

  • haaaaaaaa You're killing me you wanker! Lets see YOUR pic fool! LMAO

  • get a life,you how old are you ?11?

  • because ronnie is on the juices

  • i love those forearm workouts. I get good "Pump" from them. Good vid

  • Hey Rico.. noticed you do a lot of machine excercises.. Do you do any calisthenics or fuctional excercises ??? Keep up the good work.. hope to look like that or better when I'm 54...

  • I play tennis, basketball and try to do different things. I use free weights also.

  • yeah this guy is in great shape for 54yo. Keep it up man good workout!

  • this guy is not in great shape for 54 at all! hes in amazing shape! hews the man :D

  • This guy is 53 ???

    NOT BAD !!!

  • 54 now! Thanks bro......

  • man...i can't do shoulder workouts cuz of bad joints. cool video though thanks

  • beastly muther fuker XD

  • whoooooooooooooaaaaaah!

  • the results kill nothing

  • hm... the front raises looked pretty weird, lifted with his traps too much. The rest had pretty good tips.

  • (sorry for the long messages! thanks for that response again really appreciated!, (just to clear a puzzled up sentence, i worked legs an hour and a quarter so no time for calves after that)

  • small! I wish i could do a four day workout!, this was my first week going to the gym (i am already conditioned a bit from doing push ups chins pullups running etc)but i found after doing my shoulders and bicep back day during the week somehow even 7 days later my arms were too sore to work my triceps, but hopefully that's only because its my first week (i try to use relatively light weight with slower controlled movements perhaps i went slightly too heavy on some of the machines who knows)

  • wow thanks for writing back so fast! My calves i assumed I would do on my Leg day, which I just did leg day and after about 4 different leg exercises it was already past an hour and didn't end yup doing calves and a Quater so your right I guess i should reserve another day for that huh? as for forearms I believed they got worked out when I did a lot of exercises using my arms I.e pull ups push ups and with weights because they are actually Big relative to my bi's and tri's which are relatively
