Also, the guy with the drink at the beginning of the video is the same actor that portrayed the ATC in the video of the AeroMexico jet that had a mid-air out in California years ago. Guess he decided to retire to jolly ole UK.
why is nobody mentioning what class acts the two men in the village are? not many people would run toward a burning plane in a forest to try to save strangers - even though they couldn't save anyone, they are heroes!
@supersoldier7738 You mean the pilot? Once they were off the runway and far enough from the airport they were making a left turn probably to go to a nav point to start their flight to their destination. It was a planned turn that went wrong.
First Officer needed to grow a back bone if he was gonna be a first officer, If your Captain is being careless you set him straight, I've known captains and First Officers through working with aircraft. Also it seems the Captain, couldnt quite accept he was no longer in the airforce, he seemed to think, he was higher above his station.
@RedLauLau Did you actually watch and listen to the video? Vacuous statements like that show either you are profoundly deaf or culturally ignorant or both perhaps?
Its stupid to make the ADI into a complex gauge dependant on electric power. Instead an analog ADI will show the same thing, and wont shut down because of power failure etc.
@RealPlatoonGaming how hard would it be to do some filming in a simulator for the aircraft? 90% of the aircraft in the shows that show do have simulators with real cockpit mock-ups. not too hard to find
While I can see that the cause of the crash had some influence from the Korean hierarchy culture, the show has put it in such a way that the Korean culture is most to blame. Saying things like 'the cause of the crash can be dated back to hundreds of years ago' is basically putting the Korean culture as a culture that is backwards and wrong. You cannot just reject a culture because of an airplane crash. But it is important that Korean Air has given priority to safety and is now a leading airline.
There's a korean drama called Take care of us, Captain" It's all about the korean airline industry and pilots. You can clearly see how significance the hierarchy is in korean society! It's a very interesting drama!
Wow, this brings chills. I was sat in the jumpseat of an arriving aircraft on the taxiway that day listening to these guys eventually getting their pushback and takeoff clearance on the headset. By the time I had gone through Customs and got into the car Stansted was closed due to this crash.
@kuokstupid I think i saw that with another actor two. I think it was one about the wtc and one about another hijacking. Both times he played the terrorist.
I still thought of Korean Air as an unsafe airline. I wasn't aware that they are now, according to the show, considered one of the safer airlines in the world.
That´s why i don´t fly Korean Airlines, the service is great and Korean says the have changed but that´s just bullshit. The Captain is the Captain and the first officer still has no balls to tell him when he does something wrong. It´s the same on every workplace in Korea and has always been like that. I think alot of the Captains authority needs to be removed to avoid this rather glaring command risk. We need a new a command structure.

@lovejaeheecho does that mean i disregard the safety of others....and kill them along with me...whom i am responsible for.....those fuckin pilots deserved to die...but not those passengers.they are fuckin responsible...
After retirement from United Airlines I did a short extent at Korean Air as a training Captain.
Although this was post 99 crash, I found the class culture very much alive and well in their cockpits! Most former military pilots lacked the language skills and CRM discipline required in modern airline environment. It is no surprise to me that the JeJu F/O either did not say anything in fear of being ridiculed or was not forceful enough to override the overbearing and errant Captain.
So this guy has brought down 3 Boeing 747 aircraft, two of belong to Korean Airlines. He has been Korean, Japanese, and Korean again. This guy beats Chuck Norris hands down.
Not only was this captain also the captain of JAL123, I think he was also the captain of KAL007 that was mistakenly shot down in soviet airspace (Mayday episode 'target is destroyed')
