overshoot is actually much worse than this suggests. fossil fuels vastly increase our apparent carrying capacity, but it is only temporary, 'while stocks last'. solar carrying capacity peaked in 1800 at something like 1 billion, after which the false carrying capacity of ff pushed us into todays 'colossal overshoot'; we are actually 6 times over true capacity! but it could be even worse, if we take global warming, extinctions and ecological damage and general pollution into consideration.
