  • I hope I'll be a rhinoceros in my next life...

Anyway, thank all of you 70:s rock musicians who made my life almost complete ;-)

  • Saw Adrian on Bowie's "Sound & Vision" tour when I was a teenager. I was fourth row center and almost 20 years later, still remember how utterly amazing it was.

  • Had the good fotune to meet Adrian and Robert Fripp after the show at the Majestic Theatre in Detroit, regular good people but Guitar Gods.

  • @TheBushman57

i envy you i do Fripp to me is more legendary to me than jimi hendrix

  • Hey, they're extinct now! Africa's Western Black Rhino declared extinct. Good job humans!

  • also mike oldfield

  • \\\|/// \m/\m/ \\\|///

  • Geniuses can be so silly...

  • Also, Laurie Anderson, Public Image Ltd, Tom Tom club... Adrian Belew is a guitar god.

  • @GrannyBX Gee, I wasn't aware of these other groups/musicians that he's played with...

Maybe we should start a musical version of '6 degrees of separation', with Adrian as the focal point!

  • Excellent album. Had it on tape way back when... brings back good memories.

Thanks for sharing an incredibly talented artist.

  • so sublimely sad.

  • Yes, Yes, and Yes again...Zoweeee is right on too! ;~)

  • One of my favorites by Adrian Belew - a vastly under appreciated guitar player and songwriter.

  • @TheUntamedOne Agreed...one of mine too!

  • Incredible album

  • at least 1000 views are from me

  • reminds me of I am a dinosaur

  • hey hes been to austin!! try the deep fried turnkey!

  • feel like one too, you don't leave me alone, i will fight back - kind of a big deal -

not even your uniform will help 'ya

  • Brilliant. You ought to see him in the Laurie Anderson concert film, "Home of the Brave".

  • Brilliant.

  • My dad, he rules. :)

  • What can you say about a guy who played with Zappa, Talking Heads, Eno, the Bears, and of course King Crimson? zoweeeeee!

  • @dranak606 You forgot Bowie in that list, too.

  • @dranak606 Yep, I gotta agree with you...the greatest guitarist (musician) that most people have never heard of! Oh, BTW, you forgot to mention David Bowie!

  • @Bongofury361

    far frum imo

sorry but i have to critisize.

Adrian belew is more of an experimental guitarist

    not a virtuoso

    Holdsworth

    Fripp

    Vai

are virtuosos and there for better guitarist...and WHYwuld u say david bowie hahahaha

  • @Lincoln424242 Well, that's your opinion, and I agree with you on Fripp--but you forgot Zappa! I mentioned Bowie as another big name that Belew has played with, not as a guitar player!

  • @Bongofury361

whats my opinion? and i conisder zappa a composer and very creative musician not just a guitarist, veer seen him play the bicycle?? All bowie means to me is BOWIE knife as in Jim Bowie a texan legend, read up the sand bar fight he was in amazing.

  • @Lincoln424242 Ok...I'm sensing that you are NOT a David Bowie fan...at least that is all I could deduce from your somewhat confusing response.

Yes, I have seen Zappa play the bicycle, and it was amazing!

  • Dolphins..seagulls & a rhinocerous ? This guys guitar is at one with nature. x

  • @johnmckinlay67

its the man not his gear, HE creates it and uses TOOLs to make it.

  • @Lincoln424242 I never said anything against Adrian Belew, and if you read my posts here, you will clearly see that I am a fan of his stuff. I actually met him once in 1978. He was touring with ( dare I say it David Bowie ? ) and Belew was very kind , getting me tickets for Bowies last show.I have all his stuff with King Crimson,Bowie Lodger/Stage,Talking Heads /Name of this Band,Paul Simon /Graceland/Rythym of the saints, Zappa/Sheik Yerbouti,Jerry Harrison/Red & the black,Byrne/Cath.Wheel etc

  • Toss me a Coke can..fuck it ! Great post d666..love this guy ! Thanks.

  • amazing guitar sounds pour from him!! brings back memories! thanks for posting :D

  • For some reason this always reminds me of a 70`s Eno tune.

  • I saw Adrian in a small music bar back in about 1990ish. was about 4 or 5 feet from him and other that joan Jett, was the best show of my life, before or after

  • Adrian Belew has some great songs, could someone post "Motor Bungalow" or "Hot Zoo"?

  • @Aiden057 Both are now posted for you.

  • @Aiden057

adrian stepped out of the courtesey van and it was an awkward moment. hunts was a cool club in burlington vermont in 1989. we fumbled our hellos and chatted there on the street. he excused himself, and, wardrobe over his shoulder, went in to the dressing room. he closed the show with 'purple haze' we were amazed.

  • @ankhatdubh Great story, thanks for telling me about it. He's a cool guy and a great musician.

  • When I start Univeristy, one of my friends used to play this song on his radio.. never heard it again... until today.... took me 18 years to find it back....

  • Great to hear this song again..I had a cassette tape ( what's that ?) of this album 28 years ago. Thanks for posting , disident.

  • wOW...MeMORIEs

  • Thanks for this post, and zoobly, thanks for your last post too.

  • stick to cleaning toilets, singing aint it

  • @BetterTasteThanU Better taste than me? AAhhh impossible. Unless of course your talking about the relative merits between eating the oily tidbits from the sides of your toilet versus eating toenail clippings; thankfully, I know nothing of these matters. However, I do know that if you had any discernment of artistic merit, you would know that Belew is an incredible singer, far better than you will be in this life or in any other.

  • ahhh when i was a young lad!

  • this has been in my life since I was 13. If only people would look? at me. Not only am i am thick skin. i'm an animal. big and ugly the plus a big horny horn... lol yes I am all this picture. without the dam bird!!!

  • I'm a lone rhinoceros

there ain't one hell of a lots of us

    left in this world

I know the zoos protect my species

they give me food, collect my feces

but I can't help it, I miss the past

I'll never again see my good old mudbath

  • I'm a lone rhinoceros; there ain't one hell of a lots of us; left in this world I stand alone in my concrete cell where people stare and toss me Coke cans I guess it's better than being poached but I'd give my horn just to see my homeland They say I am ugly, call me a beast I hear them snicker when I'm half asleep Is beauty such a big commodity I always heard it was only so deep
  • This song and the lyrics are so heartbreaking!

  • "The first time I heard this song, it Belew me away!"

  • OMG! IT has been soo long since I heard this song!

I love you for uploading it!

  • Thanks - I have the LP so this is wonderful. I never thought I would find it on YouTube!

  • I know. Great stuff. I think my favorite was "Stop It."

"Like a breakfast at the egghouse, a waffle on the griddle, I'm burnt around the edges but tender in the middle."

  • I first heard this complete album on an AM radio station. Just blew me away. Love this song.

  • My girlfriend loved this song a looong time ago. We were in Hachinohe Shi and we heard a Japanese cement mixer engine that sounded exactly like Adrian's guitar rhino sound. Another time, so very long ago.

  • "Thank you so very, very, much for this excellent post...cheers!"
