Yes, the federal reserve does give out 13% of its shares to the public, but NOBODY has any voting rights but the federal reserve itself. Its the same with military equipment companies like Lockheed Martin. They are *technically* considered a private company but they are almost entirely controlled by the government.

The housing market is what caused the economic slowdown. In fact, the federal reserve causes INFLATION which causes the dollar value to fall, and in 2009 and 2010 there has practically been NO inflation. So they're actually HELPING the us.
