If you understand the story behind battletech/mechwarrior games and books, you will notice that the core storyline is mainly of a society that became great, fell, then became like modern day africa. all the games take place either after the three succession wars (that drained the coffers) or, in the case of the clans, after the pentagon civil war (which lead to a sparta-like society). Its just a future africa: picking the bones of the lost and fruitful past.

Jordon Weisman said in August that HG has a small issue, they had more problems from M$. HG was sorted within Weeks. Piranha Games have an NDA on the game from their publisher, to not spill any beans till the time is right. According to Russ the CEO of PG that's going to be this month sometime. Bryan Ekman's, lead dev, tweets show they're well in the development of the game.

@BanditDragoon if you read the books, pre clan invasion mostly, the ejection was like this videos shows, with just a parachute. But during and just before invasion, the had devoloped sort of pod like devices, as shown in the book where Phelan Kell encounters the first clan force in the inner sphere near the periphery, when he ejects he's in a pod like device. Sometimes, the whole head detatches from the body... I guess the differece is time frame, and type of mech involved which determines this.

I had MechWarrior 3 that came with my dad's old computer back in 1998 with windows, since i was 7 back then this is by far the first game that handed my ass on a silver platter but I ALWYAS wanted to get better at it. I never really did much besides the tutorial but it alwyas held my interest. My latest mech experiecnce is Chromehounds so I am glad that there is a new next generation mech game that will garner support.

Hey, a Mech game that doesn't require you to mentally fill in what it might look like in reality! I'm so glad to hear the president of FASA is taking this project, I always liked Mech Commander and the expansion to that. Mech Commander 2 just looked crappy to me. The original was a fun game and well done. I hope this one is even better and it's thus far is killing in the graphics department. I hope the story is done as well as it is! It would be awesome if a mech commander mode existed!

The game was in very very very and again, VERY early stages of development when the trailer was released, the voices, human and electronic aren't final, as with everything else here. Its just here as a place holder to attract a publisher to get on board with the project. That was back in July, so if they release a new trailer I'm sure it'll satisfy with graphics, and voicing.

i think this idea of robot warfare is ridiculously stupid. 2 metal cans just fighting it out with hardly any tactics at all. i mean all i see is 2 robot fighting head on with the occasional hiding behind buildings. so basically the one with the most firepower wins.

a group of commandos can easily take out such a machine. but it still looks good

Thee reason for making this trailer was to get publishers interested in wanting to be a part of the franchise and show them what they can expect from this game.

If this isn't in game footage, as the video claims, then it is to the detriment of Smith and Tinker, and how publishers will precieve them in other proj. This, I believe, is real in game footage of what they had so far in July, only because it is in their best interests to not lie so earlier into a project which is seeking a publisher.

The guys at mektek are gonna be meeting the developers of the Mechwarrior reboot on the 10th of November, and then later with Jordon wiesmen himself to discuss the legal issues faced with the new game in development and the free relasee. If all goes well, soon after MW4 will be downloaded for free, and we should/might have some updates on the reboot to boot.

Mechwarriors with their cER-PPCs could snap a "Gundam" in half without a second thought. Hell, they wouldn't even need to use the PPC. A single Streak SRM would do more damage than those shitty-ass "Beam swords" could ever do.

Popular Mechanics did an article (around the time Iron Man 2 came out) about how the US military is working in conjuction with private robotics labs to produce a practical powered armor suit for soldiers.

There's nothing wrong with mechassault, except its nothing more than a arcade game, and battletech is not acarde like, whatsoever.

Mechwarrior is a action simulator, meaning, no power ups, weapons u[pgrades no ammo lying in on the ground. It is a game that is meant to simulate the feel of riding a heavy battlemech packing heat!

MechAssault interesting concept but not battletech. it brought a ton of people into battletech, but its to upgrade to mechwarrior for some real 31st century combat!

I tell you why MechWarrior will never be on the PS3. Pay attention to the end of the trailer, which clearly states:

"MechWarrior is the registered and unregistered trademark(s) of Microsoft Corporate in the United States and other jurisdictions."

It's the same reason why God of War will never show up on an Xbox: Microsoft owns the MechWarrior franchise as much as Sony own the God of War franchise.

This game is Mechwarrior, and therefore will be a action simulator, its a PC game first before anything else, and all the boards on the net a cry for smith and tinker to make this game more like mechwarrior 3, then mechassault, and if you read the Q&A on ign smith and tinker and pirahna agree with the community to not go anywhere near what mechassault was.
