That must be risky buying used DSNY trucks for actual service. They run them pretty hard before they sell them. There's a yard around me that buys a 5000 from time to time from DSNY and uses it for parts.
@mikefunaro16 Not risky at all. Used to be with the DSNY in the early 80s and they did have a hard life. They would sit outside in the cold and the rain so rust was always a problem Then plow duty in the winter, driving through mud at the landfill and yanking out a stuck side loader stuck in the mud on occasion. But they did get good maintenance. My garage had a PM program where one truck a day was washed and lubricated.
I'd have to say yes. To me, this truck screams DSNY... the front bumper (the plow mount was removed), the missing riding steps (another DSNY trademark - they cut them all off), and of course those safety lights on the rear... I could be wrong, but I really think this is former DSNY.
