  • Tonebender MKIII clone?

  • Best. Gear. Ever.

  • @mrcali68 The byoc has voltage bias internal trim pot. I tried to tweak it and turn but it still did not bring the tone back at all.

  • @mrcali68 I have a byoc fuzz face and I had bad experience on my last tour. I left it in the van during the daytime and the heat made my germainum transistors not work and I cound not use the pedal until the last day of my gigs. I know it's a total different monster but I just ordered a merkin fuzz,(its got sillicon),for a real buzzy sound. Btw the scarab fuzz you played sounds real good! Might have get one.

  • @andrenighthound Yea, those germaniums are real sensitive. You could always get a Fulltone '69 or a Analogman Sunface with a bias control. The bias control will allow you to tweak it a bit for weather reasons.

  • is this pedal silicon or germanium?

  • @andrenighthound Germanium. Think of it as a Tone Bender with a tone control.

  • @andrenighthound @mrcali68 It's silicon, not germanium.

  • @dspilka No, it's germanium. It was sent to me directly by John Lyons with a full run down of the specs.

  • @mrcali68 Weird. Is yours a custom model then? The current production standard Scarab and Deluxe Scarab are both silicon per John. That's a big reason I like them...don't have to deal with germanium powering issues. I tried to link to one of John's pedal docs he used for a pedal tour where he mentions it being silicon, but I can't post links in these comments.

  • @mrcali68 IT IS SILICON! None of the Basic Audio pedals are germanium, John's pedals are a modern take on the legendary germanium fuzzboxes. that's why they are so great, cause you cannot tell the difference! No more inconsistency due the germanium trannies. John Lyons makes "germanium-sounding silicon-based fuzzboxes" and he makes them real good!

  • OK , help please .... what is the best fuzz pedal to buy , your favorite , thick , juicy and lots of sustain . Thank you .

  • Could you please do a demo with out any other effects on? I think it would be more helpful for those who want to hear what the pedal actually sounds like.

  • so this is more like a tonebender? which one?

  • hi..how does the klon stacked with a fuzz?thankz

  • great tones man. What model is your strat?

  • Thanks! It's a '57 Nash with Kinman AVN Blues Pickups

  • I have one of these on the way thanks to your demo : )

  • Just ordered one. Thanks for posting this great demo Chris.

  • Cool! You'll love it. GREAT pedal!

  • Sounds great but for a pedal demo turn off the delay and reverb,,,,,,,,I wanted to hear the pedal....Lyons is good.......

  • Thanks for doing all these cool demos. Great sound fuzz on this one!

  • I've been watching your clips, nice sounding guitar (and hands!!!)

is the Nash strat in alder or swamp ash?

and pickups Lollar or some other brands?

    thanks,

    marco

  • Hi! I'm glad you like the clips! The Nash is Ash :) and the pickups are actually Kinman AVN Blues. The guitar came loaded with blonde Lollars. The Lollars sounded great but with all my fuzz pedals I needed something noiseless but with ALL the tone. Kinmans are expensive but they are absolutely exceptional pickups! All things considered, they are the best I have ever used.

  • wow !!!! super clean.. i think its amazing talent. equipment may be the bomb but your talent has unsurpassed flavor

    kerry

  • Thanks Man! I really appreciate that!

  • Thanks Xan! Coming from you I consider it a great compliment! You're sound clips are amazing!

    Thanks!

    -Chris

  • sounds excellent, love that guitar too bro

    Xan :)
