You could get Deadra hearts from those guys witch are really rare.

They are also the main ingrediant in Deadric armor, the best heavy armor in the game.

Personally to beat this I used the scroll that Jzarro gave of flames , stoneflesh alteration , and slow time shout was really easy :-) The third time around.

Holy balls, I just got to this part on my level 30 thief on Master difficulty and it was fucking stupid. They detect you from the start and so I tried for 10 minutes to hide behind crystals and lob arrows (for 5% of their HP each) but died at least 6 times to their fucking ridiculous Fireball spam. Finally I just said "fuck it" and chugged an invisibility potion, ran past 'em, and sneak-killed Malyn.

If u r in a good level of archer use a good bow and arrows to kill him.First use a shout of "call of valor".These valor dudes r cool cause they use shouts on the enemy and they will buy u some time,so this will give u time to nail em with arrows.Good luck.

I... CAN... NOT... KILL... THIS... FUCKER!!! Two fireballs and I'm dead. Level 23. I've tried Beast Form, Sanguine Rose (gets killed in two shots as well), tons of potions and scrolls, slow... everything... Two shots and I'm out. Even with constant regeneration... Sucks!

i just did it the only way and i mean ONLY WAY is to have a ton of health potions, my guy is kinda a battle mage but i used only magic so if ur going that route you need alot of majika potions as well. i didnt even worry about the daedric guys he conjured up

@auron44053 yep! i ended up beating these guys on master at level 24 with a staff of chain lightning, slow time, and way too many frost atronachs sent marching to their death

I got it on my second try, I was level 26. his minions are really powerful and its hard to take them out all together so what is really useful is to use the ice form shout, and take them out seperately. I was also using the mace of molag bal which causes like 31 points of magica damage and it prevents them from using their fireballs too much. Malyn is not very hard to kill, his 2 minions are much tougher

what mace are you using here? i am level 17 but it takes me like 10 hits to kill the first mage you encounter.. i obviously have a weak weapon

How to do it on first try:

(you will need to get ice form first)

Before entering, buy a scroll of firestorm from Nelacar. Go inside and Malyn will start talking to you. After you have said that you are going to kill him, wait 1 sec, then press the back button and he will continue talking. Go close to him, use ice form on him, then use scroll of fire, and he will die

I know I couldn't even fight every time I would move forward my health would go down by half so finally I just ran straight at him killed him and healed myself until time ran out

This worked for me: Kill the first guy wathever way you can. Once you kill him run back to your starting point and stay hidden for a while. IF you are lucky enough, the rest of them will not pursue you and you can stealth kill all of them with 3 or 4 arrows each.

i was having trouble to then remembered slow time as soon as he finished talking a shouted and slaughtered him and left easy

@xfoxgames actually for melee characters with heavy armor the fastest way to kill him and just him while ignoring the daedra is to equip fus ro dah and when hes standing there doing his very last line of dialogue before running off is to fus ro dah him into the pile of spikes behind him then when hes on the ground power attack him 2-3 times and quest is done ( took me two hits with a flawless mace of molag bal doing 43 dmg with tier 1 bone breaker perk) took me less then 20 secs

@xfoxgames also malyn usually has a depending on level a lootable mage staff iv noticed that after lv 25 if thats when u do this quest he drops a staff of thunderbolts

before 25 its usually a sparks or flames staff. curiously i got him to only cast sparks at me with his mana and then with his staff but when i killed him h edropped a flames staff. i find some of the high stamina mage staffs are great secondary ranged weapons for the followers . they seem to use it on elementals..

I beat this last night and here is how I did it. I would recommend being a pretty decent level before going on. Have armor that is resistant to fire or chug a potion giving you those characteristics. I used Staff of Ice Storms and fast healing. Use your surroundings to block their blasts and the staff basically killed all the dermora in two or three blasts. If they tend to try to rush you push them back with the unrelenting force shout!

if you have melee weapons, just rush him immediately after the dialogue. I did it and killed him before he got a hit on me.
