I dont like Blackmores Night, but if his heart is not in it to play Purples music anymore I'd rather the man did his own thing that half ass it for a paycheck like so many classic artists do, and by the way, all due respect to the current line up and Mr Morse (and Tommy Bolin and Joe Satriani too) but for me no one will ever replace Blackmore in Deep Purple, and until they record something as timeless as 'In Rock' or 'Machine Head' thats not going to change.

When I was a teenager I remember finding Satanic lyrics in songs that were backwards! There was a special on a radio program about that. So I do believe Satan has power in music. From what I hear it is still being done today and sometimes the lyrics are not even backwards anymore!

I wouldn't call these folk tunes pathetic. One shouldn't be rigid about music in general. In fact folk music has inspired a lot of the prominent professional musicians in their simplicity and straightforwardness. And Blackmore really has a point. These songs were part of the culture of the people that made them long before the Christian religious invasion. And for the love of God, anyone that says that the pagan religions were satanic is nothing more than a fanatical cretin.

Actually he doesnt have bad information... i suggest you do some research not only on how the Bible was translated through-out history.. the songs have as well. the church has been trying to convert pagans for a long time. if you dont believe me......do your research on the churches method in historical conversion. There are even documents stating how to thin and overpower the pagan community by adopting their holidays and making them christian :)

Actually, the /puritans/ (Oliver Cromwell etc) banned the songs and outlawed Christmas. They were /opposed/ to the Catholic church, largely because it tended to absorb these things rather than wipe them out.
