  • I have a 2010 Chevy Aveo5 & cannot even budge the shift knob or the piece to pull up to put it in reverse. I took the boot off and everything but still nothing... Any suggestions?

  • do i have to by a special shifter with those long plastic parts on it?

  • trying to get off the one on my 2009 LT coupe but cant seem to get it. does anything different have to be done.

  • @CBocka45 put the car in first

  • Is it the same for the ss/sc

  • This video helped so much.

  • mine won't come off, and idk if they make one to fit my manual '06... its got to pull up feature to use reverse.. anyone have a suggestion?

  • if it was built, it can be removed. Im about to try and get myself a new shift knob. the stock one slips from my hand sometimes and it just feels weird to me. and ive cleaned it plenty of times... this video could prove useful :) thanks man

  • Would you happen to know how to remove the shift knob for automatics if it has a shift boot on it

  • I have a 06 LT and i got the knob off with no problem, but i cant find any after market knobs to fit it...do you know of any??

  • i have a 2010 cobalt, and im attempting to follow these instructions and nothing. i cannot even get the little rectangular piece to go down, ive turned it with a constant pushing down motion 360 degrees and it doesnt go down. ive bought a new knob with the assumption it wasnt impossible to take off but im starting to think it is :\ am i doing something wrong here?

  • hey hows it goin i have a question i have an automatic cobalt ls and i want to put an after market shift knob on it but i have a shift booit on the automatic shifter knob i was wonderin could you tell me how to take it off so that i could install the aftermarket one?

  • I hope it's done the same way on my Ford Escort XR3I

  • Does anyone know how to remove the knob on a 02 z24??? Thanks

  • am having problems removing mine on a 350z. does anyone know how to.

  • I have a 09 LT Coupe and still have found no way to get the knob off any ideas??

  • mine wont do that its an 09 ls coupe is the 09 shifter different?

  • try turning it to the right.. mines an 09 coupe and i turned it to the right and it came off

  • @nineforone941 Can't get the damn thing off. 09 Cobalt SS.

  • Just noticed my knob has leather stiching at the base, i see the LS's does not, that's prolly the difference

  • I have an LT coupe with sport package, (different chrome knob), w/ the same rectangular piece mechanism, mine rotates CCW but wont push down at all...tried a million times, sucks cuz I want to replace the hard/chrome knob with a softer leather one, 2 bad mine wont budge!!!!

  • You wouldnt have any idea on how to do this on a 2004 Chevy Silverado would ya?

  • @Dirky20100 No I don't, this is my car and I haven't tried doing things with other vehicles. Is your Silverado manual or automatic? Curious because it seems Chevy has been cutting back on manual vehicles lately.

  • @ryanbeha the new silverado only has the choice of a 4 or 6 speed automatic... the only full sized gas truck with a manual tranny is the ford f250

  • @ryanbeha if your in the states then most every company is cutting back on manuals. not many people know how to drive them anymore

  • @rtepic which is really sad btw. hahaha. but good for us manaual drivers, who would steal your car? lmao(im sure they will find a way tho) beware

  • aha thank you. i would have broken it trying to screw it off.

  • Sure thing doug, if you want a video of something else (that doesn't involve taking the entire car apart, I still need to drive it) just message me.

  • @ryanbeha

Okay, is it the same for an automatic shifter? Also, how do you take out the boot?

  • @jreily88 Sorry, I have no experience with the automatic shifter so I'm not sure.

  • Thank you so much Ive spent the last 20 min trying to twist it off, was about to get plyers too

  • I'm not sure if the Cobalt SS shifter is any different I'd imaging the parts keeping it together would be similar if not identical, if you want try a crescent wrench on the piece, but don't tighten it too much or you could damage the leather boot when twisting.

  • the little rectangle thing will not move for shit in mine, if its an ss cobalt will it make a difference?
