Thank u for uploading this. I'm on a Delayed Deployment Program, shipping to Boot in August. My Job is gonna be Hospital Coremen. I'm scared to death but the info like this is helping
What are the odds. I saw this video last year before I signed up for HM in DEP to get an idea of Corps School. I classed up last week and I get Ms.Carol, the woman you see instructing the class as my instructor!! She knows about this video lol. Shes awesome, the school is awesome and the job is awesome! Hooyah 10075A!!
just graduated on 20 november and its funny to see the class with the older working uniform...now its alll digi's. And no more needle demos in classes anymore as well........and zappers is still a rip off HAHAA!!!!!
HAHA! Great update! I was just graduating when the started showing up with the digis. Damn it! Missed it by that much! Zappers = major rip off! Congrats, corpsman!
thanks! also i will be active duty and im pretty hopeful i will do well in A school and I would really like to go to C school. Are some C schools more popular than others? are some known to be easier than others? sry for all the questions but my recruiter cant really tell me these things since he wasnt HM, and you have first hand experience.
Yes, absolutely. There are some C schools that I would NEVER want! Sometimes, though, it's good to go to school just to get free schooling (college credits, too!) and be paid for it. It is all up to you and what you would like to do. Corpsman have a WIDE range of C schools to choose from. I think XRT is hardest to get into (Xray Techs). That's what I hear, anyway. I know that my school, Surgical Tech, is also hard to get into. Another C school that interested me was Medical Photography.
hi! can anyone go to C school or do only certain people qualify? Also, do you have to be accepted to a C school based on a final at a school? how does that work?
C school is available directly after A-school if you have above an 85 grade in the class, and also as long as the C school has open slots. It's kind of hit or miss... You also have to be active duty, I believe, unless you get it in your contract before you ship out to RTC. I went straight out of A-school. We have several "fleet returnees" though, and they had to wait a year or two to attend...
Haha... Well, we use "Attention on Deck" for the CO or any O-6 or higher. "Stand by" is also often used directly prior to calling "Attention" in order to quiet people down and get them in formation, if need be. ;)
The first week of boot camp is just a "processing week". That doesn't mean it's fun... you get shots, learn what "IT" is, get all your uniforms issued to you, and learn the ropes. Week 2 you move to your "ship", where you'll spend the rest of your time at RTC.
Corps school.... the first week is processing. You'll take a personal finance management class for a couple days. Otherwise, you'll just be settling in. Once you "class up" you'll start studying every day. :)
Don't worry about that. :) They require that extra "year" because it's just part of the deal with being an HM. It's worth it, in my opinion. On a personal note, I'm at a C school right now, so technically I WILL be training for a year!
You'll have lots of options. DiveMo is pretty sweet. I'm doing Surg tech. You can go FMF. You can become an xray tech, lab tech, medical photographer, etc. There are sooo many options and opportunities within the HM rating. Just wait until you're almost through corps school before you worry about any of that stuff. I may go FMF after this. We'll just see what orders are available!
Sometimes. It has to be available. The Navy has to have space for you, and the need to fill that empty slot. Sometimes they need people, sometimes they're overflowing with students (like they are right now).
Was the woman a civilian? It didn't look like an uniform.
When I enlisted I was supposed to be a hospital corpsman. I was medically discharged the third week of bootcamp (ankle problems) so it never happened. In hindsight I'm glad it didn't because I am deathly afraid of needles and blood.
You don't have to go to college first to be a corpsman. However, you do have to score high enough on the ASVAB to qualify for it, AND the rating has to be open to you when you enlist.
As far as cameras in school/class, it's very VERY abnormal. I had special permission from my instructor.
man i'm glad yall train so well 4 this!!! i'm hopefully joining the navy school and i'm terrified of needles!!! i almost passed out, but the technique she used made it look like i doesn't even hurt!!! i hope its really that way when i get there and pass through the line!!!
Like in civilian world as an EMT do you guys go over the "patients six rights"?

I guess I'm old...

Interesting. I guess we were dumber back then, and they didn't want to confuse us by utilizing more than one all-inclusive command! Thanks.

Haha... Maybe it just means we're louder and more disorganized... ;)
