I played the game on Pro and beat it. But not with the shava AI, Oh God no. I got my Cousin, who is a fucking noob at video games, to help me play it, and he was better then the AI. The only thing i told him to do was stay back, and let me do all the fighting. Also i gave him the machine gun and all the ammo for that, because i never use that gun anyway. Gave him the armor, and the healing items. He was kind of like my white mage.
The old RE games had the "safe" rooms with a typewriter and a box to manage your items. Finding one of these rooms after killing a bunch of zombies and limping around was so awesome. Also the serene music that played added to the safe atmosphere. RE4 did away with that but was no big deal. Adding in the merchant and being able to upgrade your cache case made up for it. RE5 has no merchant to buy from, no safe rooms to manage your items and save your game. Let you buy and sell after every level.

Atleast the merchant made sense.The only thing RE5 has is its graphics, the two player mode (which me and my kids love), and the boss battles. I liked it because I cared about the characters. The cutscenes were beautiful and the fight sequences were well-choreographed and entertaining. Voice acting was also very solid. It was a bit predictable during the second part of the game, and there are one or two corny moments, but it kept me thoroughly engaged in what was going on. I think it's better than most other stories in video games.
The sad thing is theres a perfectly logical money making reason Sheva's AI is so terrible. Capcom wants you to play it with a friend, thereby selling 2 copies of the game, thus making more money, same reason alternate outfits and vs mode are dlc instead of unlockable features. Did you ever think "Why don't they fix Sheva's AI via a patch or software update?" because they'd rather have the profit from 2 people instead of 1. Modern gaming, its all about upping the price.
For me, I find Chris' A.I just slays me...I mean he heals me too often.
Also, I found if I equip him with a machine gun, or pistol...he uses the pistol when it's not appropriate. I just equip him with a rifle to cover me, and give him extra ammo for me

the gameplay isn't broken in any way, try playing on harder modes without infinite ammo for a challenge, and the series has evolved over the past decade, you should know this if you played RE4.

Exploiting every cheap tactic in the game doesn't make the gameplay broken. You can do those kinds of things in other shooters as well (Call of Duty, Halo, Gears of War) by simply running up to every enemy and knifing/melee/chainsawing them for an insta-kill. Does that mean that all those games are broken? No, you should just play the game the way it was meant to be played. Professional is only really easy if you're using infinite ammo, and it's harder than many other games.

RE5 has the exact same gameplay as RE4 except improved due to the ability to walk sideways and execute enemies. Broken means unplayable, with tons of glitches that prevent you from completing the game, something you managed to do with RE5. If the game's so easy how is it cheap? If Sonic 2 (a game that came out in 1992) can allow you to turn off the A.I. then RE5 ( a game that came out this console generation) should do the same thing.
a thing that they should do for the next console RE game (either operation racoon city or RE6) is that they should combine the inventory of RE 4 and 5 by having all your items in your case but you can assign 4 items (any items you want) like a quick select in the D-pad so you can change weapons and items on the fly and being able to upgrade your case like in RE 4 and maybe upgrade you quick select menu. well i think that would be pretty cool to have

Wow. I've beaten it like 30000000 times and never played alone. Online is fun as well. Great review though. I didn't like the inventory either. But I still live this game. Buy it. You'll have a good time with friends.
Man, I tell ya. I got this game for 17$. I got home and played the first ten minutes by myself. Shiva got trapped by about 30 zombies. I had to go help her. She ran away. The zombies killed me. I never played it by myself again.

@gilgamesh310 Yes. Although the point is muddled since almost all wii games have bad default bounding boxes making control a mess. People sadly don't put the 5 mins it takes to calibrate the controls properly and as a result dismiss the wiimote for shooters out of laziness.

heres how RE5 should have been done, you could still play 2 player, but you also had the option to turn off sheva in single player and get 18 slots for chris!
how many games do you know had a helper AI that actually helped the player rather than hinder them. shiva is a pain in the ass to play around and worst yet you have to hear her voice repeating the same commands as she fumbles around the screen. to me the game had a terrible story and rehashed mechanics and an unnecessary AI burden. it's not as well paced as re4 and the puzzles aren't as challenging or intuitively designed. if this game wasn't called re5 people wouldn't have had such high hopes.
the resident evil series was meant to be a single player horror shooter experience. they had a perfect formula for that starting with re1-3 and then deviated from that in re4 but they managed to make that enjoyable with a good story line and innovative mechanics, though it was less about horror and more about skills/gameplay. re5 in my opinion was terrible. it had nothing positive to build on from the previous games. i don't know what joker thought it was a good idea to add in a helper AI.

Funny review, but you're analysis is inaccurate at points. Sheva will help you if trapped by an enemy (press circle button). She also often combines herbs, although you do not have direct control over that. Also, you can decide whether you want her to hide behind you or deliberately go forward and attack the enemies--circle forward and circle back for attack and support respectively. I agree with you that the A.I. could've been better, but the online multiplayer kicks ass anyway. I love the game
LoL. Yeah its impossible to beat the game with A.I. on professional mode because your partner can die very quickly with one hit and the A. I. is retarded. Therefore, you must play online co-op which is actually very fun. Lol Acorn is hella funny.

Have you played the game with the ps3-move controls yet? It's pretty much the same as the wiimote. The only down side I found was that it only worked with the gold edition :/ Awesome reviews btw

a thing that they should do for the next console RE game (either operation racoon city or RE6) is that they should combine the inventory of RE 4 and 5 by having all your items in your case but you can assign 4 items (any items you want) like a quick select in the D-pad so you can change weapons and items on the fly and being able to upgrade your case like in RE 4 and maybe upgrade you quick select menu. well i think that would be pretty cool to have

the PS3 now have the move version it said the controls are much better than the one for the wii of RE4 wii edition but i never got to try it though i do have RE5 move version but i don't have a PS move.

Wow. I've beaten it like 30000000 times and never played alone. Online is fun as well. Great review though. I didn't like the inventory either. But I still live this game. Buy it. You'll have a good time with friends.

Man, I tell ya. I got this game for 17$. I got home and played the first ten minutes by myself. Shiva got trapped by about 30 zombies. I had to go help her. She ran away. The zombies killed me. I never played it by myself again.

i agree that sheva is horrible! and i mean horrible!!! but yes she can combine herbs, if you would at least wait 15 goddamn seconds, give her a green herb then a red herb, go to your inventory once there not combined take TWO steps and go back to it and take a look! the magical herb combining fairy combined the two! its takes 15 seconds

@gilgamesh310 Yes. Although the point is muddled since almost all wii games have bad default bounding boxes making control a mess. People sadly don't put the 5 mins it takes to calibrate the controls properly and as a result dismiss the wiimote for shooters out of laziness.

how many games do you know had a helper AI that actually helped the player rather than hinder them. shiva is a pain in the ass to play around and worst yet you have to hear her voice repeating the same commands as she fumbles around the screen. to me the game had a terrible story and rehashed mechanics and an unnecessary AI burden. it's not as well paced as re4 and the puzzles aren't as challenging or intuitively designed. if this game wasn't called re5 people wouldn't have had such high hopes.

the resident evil series was meant to be a single player horror shooter experience. they had a perfect formula for that starting with re1-3 and then deviated from that in re4 but they managed to make that enjoyable with a good story line and innovative mechanics, though it was less about horror and more about skills/gameplay. re5 in my opinion was terrible. it had nothing positive to build on from the previous games. i don't know what joker thought it was a good idea to add in a helper AI.

Funny review, but you're analysis is inaccurate at points. Sheva will help you if trapped by an enemy (press circle button). She also often combines herbs, although you do not have direct control over that. Also, you can decide whether you want her to hide behind you or deliberately go forward and attack the enemies--circle forward and circle back for attack and support respectively. I agree with you that the A.I. could've been better, but the online multiplayer kicks ass anyway. I love the game
