Softmodding your xbox for noobs part 1

Hi! I have a problem with the softmod. I softmod my xbox using the tutorial of forum.afterdawn, the problem is that the xbox don't read the backup copies. I burn Fatal Frame for Xbox from the iso, i load the game in the tray, but than it says that the disc in the tray is unknow.

@027Erik I resolved this problem about 2 weeks ago, anyway thanks for the response. It was my fault, because my xbox doesn't read DVD RW, infact when i used a DVD +R it worked great! Can i ask you another thing? If i want to read also DVD-RW can i replace the original xbox dvd player with a dvd player that read also DVD RW and others? I need to use a specifical model or any model works?

@TheBlackDoggy I hear about that switching dvd players work especielly using a pc drive. But I don't know anything in that department. I'm just now going to mod my Xbox for the first time. I attempted it almost ten years ago with a mod chip but failed. Now Softmod is in the scene. So yea there are literally loads of tutorials out there. I hope you find one helpful and upload a tutorial yourself so I can learn from you.

@watchthelot Fat and most slim; any slim model before SCPH-90000 (the very last line of them). You can flip your PS2 over and look at the sticker. Now it would be great if you have AR MAX [MUST HAVE MAX MEDIA PLAYER], but if not you can make a slide tool and burn AR Max members.cox.net/awoolcott/Swip­e-Card.gif (here's how to use it youtube.com/watch?v=bt_9kkStaF­Y). @jbetenbender Note: if you have valuable saves then you can transfer them over with flash drive to ur pc. Only thing is (given that you had to use the slide tool) that you have to restart (an option brought up with start I believe) it might look for the boot code... so you might have to use the slide tool again. Not very coherent, but there you go.

hi,i have a hard modded xbox with EVOX and i was wondering if it was possible to softmod another xbox by transfering the mod files into the hard modded xbox and then use the memory card to copy it into the not modded xbox and then use splinter cell to execute the files in the non-mdded xbox...is this possible?

i did mine a little different.. i made a port for my controller... took out one of the memory card ports and replaces it with a USB female port

as well i used a flash drive with some files injected into it.. then all i had to do was run the save file.. then it did the softmod AND installed xbox media centre

Why do all the splicing? You could just as easily plug the AR adapter into your computer and load up the installer and the Linux saves, then transfer them over with the AR in the controller. I didn't have to splice one wire to mod my XBOX. Maybe I missed something? My whole mod process took 5 minutes, and that was installing a dual-boot. I can mod an XBOX and load it down with Emus, ROMs and XBMC in about an hour. And thats going through and calibrating controller settings for Emus. No splicing!

Make sure the path and file name are correct

Pifft My Segate 250GB drive went in there no problems. The xbox uses the older EIDE drive. You're more than likely thinking about the SATA drives which have a whole different data cable.
