Well then Tony Robbins should practice what he preaches and alter his own perception. Let see if he thinks someone like Roseanne Barr, Kathy Grifith, or Rosie O'Donnell is beautiful. Has anyone seen Tony's ex-wife? She is f***ing hot!!
I can always find the funny scenes for this movie but I cant ever find the clip when he talks to the burn victim when he can actually see her burns I dont think it nearly gets the credit its due for being a sad dramatic scene
Well, the way I see it in this movie portrays that 'hot' girls are in general "not so hot" or friendly inside and that "fat, unattractive" girls are beautiful inside. Thats not necessarily true. It is hard to find a woman who is both hot inside and out. So what Tony does here is gives Hal to get at least "something" HeHe. But it is true, to pick up a hot decent girl is not easy as there is competition. But again, it is also true that media does play a huge role on hotness
The media doesn't have to tell me Heidi Klum is hot. I can figure that out on my own. While I get the point of the movie and the message not to be shallow, Robbins is just a salesman. And he preys on self conscious people to make millions.
Yeah he is Right. Everything I know about Beauty is through the Media. So I react accordingly "That girl is hot" and "That girl is not hot at all". Our brains is like a Computer. It's programmed to act a certain way and behave a certain way according to our environment.
I grow tired of the Media and entertainment industries fabricated sense of the ideal beauty. As if everyone is to look like the typical Hollywood movie star or model. I can gaurantee that the vast majority of the people who are considered "beuatiful" in holly have had cosmetic surgery, breast inplants, face lifts etc, etc, to look the way they do.
i don't care what anybody says, that is not true beauty that is whats called being a poser.
wow..ever since i saw this moive, only up in till yesterday did i know that this guy is a real person that does motivation like stuff and helps ppl lol. i thought he was just a character they made for the movie.
I actually teared up in this movie, the scene where Hal re-visits the hospital and sees the little girl that is a burn-victim. He stared at her for a few seconds, like most people would, it was a very self-revealing scene about how people are so used to the 'norm' that they don't realize how hurtful it is to victims of such atrocities when they just stare at them.
It's sad how people just STARE at people, I've learned not to do that. It's what I hate about 99.9 % of humans on this planet.
Unfortunately, this movie is a contradiction in itself. Hal follows in love with women for their inner beauty but physically he still sees them as thin and conventionally pretty which is actually just conforming to the very narrow parameters of beauty that we are force fed today... so BAM, huge contradiction.
well, that's Hal's perception of beauty. If someone's idea of beauty was nonconventional beauty and went under the same hypnosis, he'd look at a thin girl but see something different. Perception is reality.
Granted, the movie doesn't make that clear 100%, but on par with watching the movie, that should also be kept in mind.
hmm not entirely true ... because at the end of the movie ... he sees that girl for what she is ... (a fat girl ) so not as thin and conventionally pretty. And he still decides to be with her... thats the concept of the movie.... love is all .... love has no rules ... love is timeless ... so BAM, no 'huge contradiction'
That's the way it is for most of the movie but then he realizes that he loves her for her inner beauty. That's why at the end he goes back to get her, and where he sees the overweight Rosemary, he calls her beautiful. That shows that he no longer conforms to the "very narrow parameters of beauty that we are force-fed today".
