Although there is some personal opinion, I think it reflects some commons of Chinese ------ Delicious food, collectivism, huge population, english level..... Actually, the group of Chinese people in UK have their own commons: they are students or businessman. For students, they may have rich or good family income and for businessman , they are mainly from South part of China. So the overseas Chinese people cannot represent all.

That eventually play into people's impression. I heard they used to stamp people on the hand for reentry which can be exploited by taking a single ticket in and out for everyone in the group to get stamped. First of all, I am a Chinese having living in US for a very long time. Recently, I went to Disneyland in Florida for the first time. There were fingerprint/ticket identification machine at the gate. Being the first timer, I hesitated for a movement and the white lady at the gate thought my wife and I haven't bought the tickets. so she scold, "Where is your ticket?" I promptly took out the tickets out of my wallet and misunderstanding cleared out. She smiled and showed me how to use the machine.

jacky, good work, i can understand these perception carries some weight in your mind, but little weight in China. Chinese traditionally, culturally place great importance on education, which has shaped, and will continue to shape Chinese mindset. check out BBC documentary on Chinese School, which will give you some idea what im talking about here. It is important you do not lose yourself among people from various cultural background with little understanding of your ethnic people.

I'm sure if they actually thought about the race and the reasons for differences, they would realize that their racism is unfounded. so i think what you say on camera does correlate quite closely to the truth, because you are forced to think on the spot.

@SuperXWreal I think this is an interesting self-reflective project that attempts to see self from the perspective of the other, but i agree w/ SuperXWreal that the extent to which this project enrich our understanding of how Chinese people are viewed is actually very limited. Although your question is what people think of Chinese people, most likely you'll get answers of what people think of the Chinese people THEY KNOW IN THE UK or in their own country.
