  • @Lennon4ever1 Did you become a Christian by conviction from hearing/reading the Bible? I confirm that we are in disagreement, since the Bible Does contain the truth. How do you determine that only the peaceful philosophies of Jesus, are the good bits / truth?

If you dismiss religion because of it being a man made construct, why do you regard a book of Campbell more reliable?

  • @Lennon4ever1 That would be foolish of Jefferson according to Revelation 22:19 etc... You claim to seek truth, yet you like the idea of excluding a supernatural explanation from the start. I don’t know how you draw your line of reasoning.

I am convinced by Jesus authority and how his words confirm/conform to the realities of the world as I experience it. Since this is the case, I also trust what Jesus teaches on matters that might seem harsh compared to our standards.

  • @Lennon4ever1 This book does not diminish the trustworthiness of the Bible. When Campbell on page 50- makes the impression that similarities between Genesis and creation stories of other religions, should make the Bible less trustworthy, it is obvious that he is not seeking truth.

Similarities between Genesis and other creation stories is just as strong an argument for the Truth of the Genesis account. But these other religions fail in so many other ways compared to the Bible.

  • @Lennon4ever1 I agree that honest reasoning without corrupt superstition and fear, will allow truth to be found. May I suggest reading the Bible.

  • if the bible god was true i would be angry at him for being such a dick shit he even sacrfises trees not really immoral but crazy

  • Hi KirneH004

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Do free thinkers hold fast to any set of absolute truths, or dose each free thinker choose what he/she thinks is right and wrong for him/her?

The title says "What made you so mad at God?".

Now correct me if I am wrong, but your main reason seemed to be that, people said that they were right and you were wrong. 0:34

  • In my experience, Freethinkers (with a capital F) seem to be heavily into science and dismiss unscientific proofs. For me there is a little wiggle room because I read a lot. :)

If I'm mad at anyone, it's the members of God's fan club who dismiss people for things they can't help (being disabled, gay, or any kind of "other" that doesn't fit their agenda).

I don't understand people like that. Aren't humans supposed to be free to be themselves?

  • Ok, so many evolutionists would call them selves Freethinkers, while they out rule the possibility of a divine being in their search for the truth hmm...

    - People who dismiss disabled people are not acting according to the Bible.

Aren't humans supposed to be free to be themselves?, To some degree yes. But if God made a law for people to live by for there own sake, there would be absolute rights and wrongs on what and what not to do.

But would that be a bad thing?

  • See-- I rule out very little. I wasn't there when it happened. So, I don't know.

You said, "People who dismiss disabled people are not acting according to the bible". I disagree. It was a Catholic priest who authorized my dismissal from the school.

Who am I to force myself back into a place where I'm not wanted *officially*?

  • @Obletix

From my experience, atheist can't be mad at something that doesn't exist, they generally are mad about those that claim to speak for that something that doesn't exist. (my wording was so that you understood better their point of view, mine is that it doesn't matter if god exist or not, all i need to know is that if she does, she gave me free will, so I return the favor and give free will right back to him/her/it)

  • @Obletix You are a troll so I'll try not to feed you much but, what makes you think we "rule out" your God? We are always presenting loads of evidence and making compelling arguments, we have though about this stuff thoroughly.

That's why Atheists are so good at arguments and debates, we know the questions because we once asked them ourselves.

  • @rgzdev Hey rgzdev, Could you by any chance give me just a couple of your best evidential arguments for believing atheism?

  • @Obletix there are too many and it is a too big question for a YT comment so I'll be brief:

    1. The existence of a disembodied mind existing a priori is infinitesimally unlikely.

    2. For an educated person the universes doesn't really seem designed.

    3. Despite an abundance of time and resources and an intense motivation to prove his existence all attempts to do so fail even for the most trivial cases.

    4. Specifically for the Christian god, his holy book is... deeply flawed, to say the least.

  • @rgzdev The topic at hand wont be settled in the YT commentary I agree. I was ofc. hoping for the evidences behind your claims, so if you get the opportunity please PM me with such, I would be interested.

    1. Why?

    2. Why? We have a universe, which natural laws are just right for the existence of complex life. Earth is just right for the task at hand described in the bible.

    3. Personal opinion, which I disagree with.

    4. Where?

  • Since Christians should believe in the word of God, they have such absolutes in the commandments on how to live their lives.

So is it rather because you disagree with Gods law?

Something must have been seriously wrong with the church that kicked you out at the age of 9 for being disabled! But to blame God for peoples miss doings would seem unreasonable in my opinion.

I guess we should all remain 'free thinkers' as long as it doesnt prevent us from finding the truth :)

  • And remember-- since we are individuals and not mindless robots, each person's truth is different.

  • What if a self professing Freethinker said: Since my boss is so rich and I hardly can pay my monthly bills, its ok for me to steal his new laptop or Look at that fat kid over there, its hes own fault so lets go tease him.

    - I mean, some people actually seem to have that mentality, right?

Do you think the World would be a better place if everyone was Freethinkers?

Do you think the World would be a better place if everyone lived according to the moral and physical laws of the Bible?

  • Then there is the self-promoting "Christian", Fred Phelps, who spends most of his time picketing funerals and spreading his opinion that "God hates Fags, Fag Enablers, Jews, Democrats, Liberals, and (this is a hot one) America". God hates America-- and Phelps still lives here.

You are a freethinker in your own way; you are free to think that God is the right way to go, for *you*.

Since everybody has free will, other ways would be hard to enforce.

  • @Obletix You can't blame something that doesn't exist.

  • 2:11

"you can feel good in church" ... he laughed, perfect response

  • Osho was a smart man. He claimed God is not a solution but a problem. Anyone who hands you a belief system is your adversary. We should educate people so they can use those tools so they can think for themselves. Keep up the Free Thinking!!1 1+1=2!!!!

  • How funny that the bookstore lady assumed the antithesis of KISS is church; to feel good about oneself! People baffle me. I know that lady has NEVER heard one KISS song! Way to go Xtians! People want to validate their silly beliefs by having others except their bullshit!

  • It's simply fear of the unknown. One will see a 7-foot humanoid demon in leather and spikes and thing "evil"; another will see the same image an d think "cool! I like horror movies/comics/art/books/music too!"

Interesting world we live on, eh? :)

  • I agree with you! Great words! I wish other people think the way you think

  • Simply put. Do the right thing because it feels good. Period.

  • Almost: Do the right thing because you want to, and it's its own reward. Humans have free will, after all.

  • Very nicely put.

My late father (an athiest too) use to say he lived by the golden rule "Do un to others as you would have them do un to you."

Always made good sence to me too.

    Peace

  • What kind of church would kick you out for being disabled?

  • It was a non-denominational Sunday school run by a Catholic church in the San Mateo County area.

  • That is harsh! But hell (pun intended) worked out for you anyway. There are so many better things to do on Sunday! Stay strong my friend!

  • It isn't Hell-- it's just my life :)

  • BTW- You do not appear disabled to me at all! I'm sure others see the same!

  • Everybody's disabled somehow, even if it's just by attitude and/or fear.

  • Well put guy!

  • nice thoughts, fella.

  • Well said.
