  • couldn't you just use a zip lock

  • Get a gopro

  • one thing you forgot.

    HOW MUCH!!!!!!!!!

  • thankyou jubetool , I made your design here in Australia for $50, ive also made a video using your camera housing design, its called tweed river snorkeling at the river mouth, thanks mate, its funny how your design has helped me on the other side of the world .

  • I dunno if it has been said but it'd be an idea if you figured out the space between the back of the camera and the rear lid and attach something to the inside of the lid to fill the space and stop the camera from sliding as I'm sure it does if you have a small camera.

  • great video!

  • you should cut out the side and make an ext. cover for the screen

  • good video,but you could be a test :)

  • and a quick tip for using teflon tape: when applied, use a flat head screw driver or the blunt side of a knife, and slide it around the threads to push the tape deeper into the grooves. u know ur good to go when the top of the threads cut through the tape (: !!

  • it works great thanks man

  • to many niggers

  • How do you press play underwater? Do you start recording before diving?

  • i just used a ziplock bag

  • Can i use pvc pipe instead of the piping u used?

  • 1 how do you get the pipes ?

    2

  • great vid man, its very usefull, ill be attempting to make one as soon as possible.

  • xD look whats suggested when typing something like: How to make an underwater "house in minecraft" xD Minecraft ftw :P

  • Cool production.. thanks.

  • hey guys, this weekend i made this exact camera housing, and it works great. You need that teflon tape otherwise water will leak in. i had it submerged in water for 5 minutes, and it was perdectly dry. I would recommend using a couple of cabinet handles and using 2 hose clamps to make something to better grasp it with. I will be making a review video of it soon! Check it out!

  • " stick this inside there" lol

  • THanks brother!

  • where did you get the black pipes?

  • @meniged its called abs I make aquarium decor with it go to homedeopt or rona or wahtever

  • @meniged im asking the same question

  • That was a seriously slow and tedious video dude!! Most of the talking was super redundet. What cameras are you using and how did you actually fit the camera inside?

  • Great tutorial!

  • I think that this is a great guide. I just finished building mine and am going to test it tomorrow in the pool to see how it stands up at a depth of around 15'. If it works I am taking it to the springs around here and will put the camera in it. Ran into a few snags though:

The twist top that is used for access leaks significantly and I am having to put 5 or 6 layers of the threading tape one but this makes it difficult to screw and unscrew.

I also had a very difficult time cutting the plexi.

  • That is awsome man. pretty much flawless. Im not trying to ruin your thing at all man this is great but i just have a suggestion. you could attach one or two plastic handles on the top or sides for underwater handling :))

  • hey, awesome video. check out my test video

  • Hey man. Great video! Im gonna make one of these pretty soon here and I was just wondering how deep you have gone with yours. Im hoping it will go a couple feet at least. Thanks for the idea!

  • @MrSpicy714 You bet it will go a couple feet ;) Used mine at about 60 feet and got some amazing footage. Remember to always test the housing before you use it with your camera

  • @MrSpicy714 about 6-10 meters im guesing

  • take your camera and push record and put it in a waterproof bag that you can rack at dicks sport shop lol IT WORKS

  • amazing video

  • @sony561 Velcro

  • sooo can we see the footage?

  • How do you get the camera to sit still without rolling around?

  • how do you keep the camera next to the lens?

  • Awesome idea.... just built mine yesterday. Field tested it... no leaks! Gonna try the real thing in the pool next weekend. If all is good, then we go snorkeling! Thank you very much! Total cost with silicone and supplies was $27 and some change!

  • cool

  • sweet idea dude. how deep was your field test? and are you mounting the camera inside or just resting it in there?

  • thank you soooo much. perfect size and everthing for my sonyhandy cam.

when im fineshd with making this ill try to get some footy wiht it.

  • You sound like the old guy on Family Guy ha ha :) Nice vid

  • about how much did it cost overall?

  • @matheus11397 .... I built mine yesterday.... cost $27 and some change with silicone, glue and material.

  • about how much did it cost overall?

  • Anyone have any advice on how to edit this model to add a stop and record button on its outer shell?

  • @youlosez ..... No idea, but if I get a different camera in the near future, I will probably get one that has a wireless remote. Then seal the remote in a couple of plastic bags with glue, that way I can have full access to controls, including zoom. Just an idea.

  • Are you using silicone tape or teflon tape?

  • @alwaysopen

    I used Teflon Tape...

  • ...cool...nice and simple...lens is recessed into the pvc. Am curious if the edge of the pipe which extends over the clear lens shows up in your images?

  • @waveriderz

It won't if you make sure the camera doesn't slide back in the housing. As long as it stays right at the lens it won't show...

  • @waveriderz .... I thought of the same thing. I simply just cut back the front housing about an inch and a quarter, bringing the lens closer from the outer ring.

  • Hi great inventor!

Way to go buddy - efficient and cheap :-) We look forward to the next project ;-)

A great fan of you from Denmark

  • @SuperThegreatdane

I have a sneaky suspicion we might know each other! :)

  • I think your suspicion is correct. Say hello to the rest of the family. :-)

  • leif!!!

  • I like your design. How deep can you go?

After you apply the silicon tape, do you just hand tighten it or do you bring a wrench?

  • I have successfully tested it at 30 feet but it will probably go a lot deeper than that.

I only hand tightened the silicone tape but it would be a lot more effective if you use a wrench. Just make sure you can open it again.

Experiment with it and optimize the seal, and it will go at least 100 feet deep. Remember to do the testing without a camera in it.

  • 30 ft is plenty. I snorkel dive up to 20 ft. Any thing past 20 and I would need to change the lens to a red.

I may just get a few more end caps, and a bit more silicone tape. Thanks for posting this video. It is going to help out, and save money!

  • @icimblind

Sounds great. Feel free to modify the design any way you want! :)

  • Top!

  • Great Job! Thank you
